In this stellar episode of AJIO Presents The Ranveer Show, we host Dr. Vikram Sampath. He is a popular Indian historian, noted for authoring biographies of Gauhar Jaan and V. D. Savarkar.
Bangalore-based historian Dr. Vikram Sampath is the author of 8 acclaimed books of history including biographies of Gauhar Jaan & Veer Savarkar & Bravehearts of Bharat on unsung heroes of India. He was elected as a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Historical Society of the UK, a winner of the Sahitya Akademi's first Yuva Puraskar in English literature & the ARSC Award for Excellence in Historical Research in New York. He has a Ph.D. in history & music from the University of Queensland, is a trained Carnatic vocalist & has established India's 1st digital sound archive for vintage gramophone recordings called the Archive of Indian Music.
This video is a breakdown of the Indian Freedom Struggle. The Indian independence movement was a series of historic events with the ultimate aim of ending British rule in India. It lasted from 1857 to 1947. Few leaders followed a more violent approach, than the others. This became especially popular after the Rowlatt Act, which permitted indefinite detention. The Act sparked protests across India, especially in the Punjab province, where they were violently suppressed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The Indian independence movement was in constant ideological evolution.
He is one of the most knowledgeable guests on the show. Hope you enjoy this episode.

The grandfather of my mother used to be DSP of Dinajpur, now that part belongs to Bangladesh. ((Edit: there's a part of Dinajpur in West Bengal too, actually two districts are there, but where he used to stay, now falls within the borders of our neighbour country.))
He served as a police officer, but instead of arresting freedom fighters, he used to help them, like providing refuge to fighters in his own police quarter, none will search there.
This was an example of peak patriotism.

Sure I can write. About his life, the majestic horse had, but his life story will include the freedom fight in Bengal. How Bengalis provided an enormous amount (maybe the most in numbers) of fighters during the period, how and why England felt the urge to divide Bengal into two parts because Bengalis were extremely progressive, literate and a big headache for them.
So, it'll be long if I start describing.

Dr.Vikram Sampath is truly an intellectual historian that India needed for long to relate her real history in modern times..There have been renowned historians like R C Majumdar, Jadunath Sarkar, V K Rajwade, Riyasatkar Sardesai and numerous others, but there work largely remains obscure to the young generation, so historians like Dr. Vikram (and also TRS) has a great role to play to mainstream the little known history outside the confines of the academic discourse.

A few days ago, I listened to Sampath Sir's latest podcast for the second time. It deeply affected me as I reimagined the grief, pain, and loud cries of the revolutionaries who suffered during the oppressive period of the Kalapani Cellular Jail. The cries still resonating inside my ear somehow. Typically, I listen to podcasts while having dinner, but this time I was unable to eat due to the emotional impact of the podcast. We owe it to those who lost their lives in places like Kalapani to honor and acknowledge their unheard voices.

Brother Raveer, You are doing a phenomenal job. One of the unbiased shows I watch regularly during my one hour drive to and from my job. You channel is like a delicious restaurant menu. Very difficult to choose one. Keep up the good work. I am an eighty born kid. I wish we had such platforms then.
As a South INDIAN ❤ I totally agree with Dr. Sampath. Our brothers and sisters from North think that we are all Madrasis. I still come across such comments even in US. I would really appreciate if you can please mention somewhere about “Kerala Story” which is not our story. They are trying divide us make us fight with each other. Once Britishers did it now our own people are doing it. I feel really disappointed and saddened with these things.
Once again Keep going brother. Best wishes and Prayers to you for current and future endeavors.

As per Dr.Vikram's words I come to know that basically Congress people was ruling our Country like Dictators under Democratic Umbrella.
And making Lal Bahadur Shastri Prime Minister was also a trick i feel because at that time INDIA's situation was not so good. There was Drought Situation all around the Country and we just lost 1962 war against Chinese too. It was a pathetic situation in the country. If the Country Collapses then the whole Blame will be on LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI's Shoulder. Very Criminal Idea.

I've been listening to Vikram Sampath Ji and Sai Deepak Ji over the last month or so. Their indic perspective about Indian history be it Ancient, Medieval and Modern is absolutely scintillating and provides a whole new dimension.
I myself being a history student and having come across authors life Romila Thapar, RS Sharma, DD Kosambi, their marxist approach discredits important aspects of Indian history which both Sai Deepak and Vimram Sampath Ji beautifully comprehend whenever they speak.
And kudos to Ranveer for inviting such bright minds who actually care about facts and figures rather than blatant lies and misinformation about our history and geo political scenario in general.

I also remember reading about veer savarkar in class 6 in our Odia books. And now that I think about it, its impressive learning about how stories of Veer Savarkar were banned or removed from public discourse all across India, but somehow it found space in our Odia books. I wonder when the story must have been inserted in our books that too in CBSE.
I always remembered that story and the incidents it narrated but forgot the person it was about as it was just a story for me at that time as a kid. Later found that it was the story of Veer Savarkar. Also maybe a biased take, even though by looks our Odia books may not seem impressive, but they teach so much more than just literature than what English or Hindi literature books did though that doesn't mean the English and Hindi literature books were bad, just a subjective take.
