IMPORTANT: There is a small mistake in this video. At the beginning, I show the Formula Fe3O2 and call it "Iron (II) Oxide." The correct formula for Iron (II) Oxide would be FeO. Sorry about that!
+Tyler DeWitt DUDE I Laughed out loud when you said "I forgot to the name in the last one, and this is just *so* satisfying. So i did it slowly to make up"
+Andrea Terblanche I think it applies in OXIACIDS. In aqueous phase, if it ends with -ATE then you'll have to replace it with -IC Acid. Example: Sulfate then it'll become Sulfuric Acid. And anions ending with -ITE will be replace with -OUS Acid. Example: Sulfite then it'll become Sulfurous Acid.
+Tyler DeWitt Lol i tried to solve it and it didn't come out right and got a little confused so thx for commenting this. I wish you were my teacher you are really good
your passion for teaching and excitement for chemistry is infectious. Hopefully my exam in a couple days goes well. With these videos you've made, I truly have no excuses.
I am currently coaching my granddaughter during the lockdown. Because I live in Spain, and she lives in the UK, we communicate via iphones. I have to say (as a chemistry graduate myself) that this has been one of the best introductory lessons I have seen. Beautifully prepared and perfectly delivered. Well done that man ! Regards from sunny Spain.
i really wan to say thankyou for these videos. everytime i watch school related videos i get bored and tend to tune out the information. your passion for the subject is infectious and i find myself really engaged with you hand gestures and good projection.
This might be your best tut yet that I've watched (and I've watched 'em all up to this point as I go through my CHM 101 class). STEPS!! Who doesn't love steps! Steps make everything clear and digestible--and DOABLE! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I never take chemistry ever and I'm 50yrs old trying to help my son with his chemistry. I'm glad I found you. Not only I'm getting better at this but my son is improving his chemistry. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for these videos. I have been borderline freaking out in my chemistry class because I wasn't grasping the full load of information given. Your videos have helped me tremendously! While I am watching I am also taking notes and those notes have helped me more than once in class. Keep doing what you are doing, my grade depends on it! :)
Thank you SO MUCH! Your videos have been immensely helpful in my understanding of Chemistry. I sit in class completely lost and confused all day and then come home and watch these videos and get it on the first try. You are an excellent instructor!
UR THE BEST TEACHERR EVERRR OMGGG THIS SHII MAKE SO MUCH MORE SENSE I HAVE A SCIENCE QUIZ TMR AND DID NOT GET ANYTHING, NOW I GET EVERYTHINGG DAMNNNN THANKYOU TYLER!!! lmaoo ion know why all caps tho also 9 years ago almost 10 goes crazyyy
I just want to tell you that you're an amazing person(teacher), Tyler! I've been telling some of my classmates about your videos. I got a 96 on my first Intro to Chemistry test, and I don't doubt that you had a huge impact in that! =)
You are literally the best teacher in the world, your videos are so simple and sprinkled with a little bit of humor along the way. You make all the confusing topics into basic stuff!!
OMG thank you so much. you really explain it so much easier than my instructor. You Don't rush and I Appreciate the notes I take away from these videos. Like a light bulb went off!
I mean no disrespect to my current instructor, but I just discovered this channel and these videos have taught me more in a couple hours than I've learned in 3 weeks. To be fair, my class is online and I'm confident my instructor teaches more thoroughly in a seated classroom setting but I appreciate these videos.
OMG. My Prof made this SO DAMN COMPLICATED. I was feeling so bummed until I watched your video. You just restored my faith!! Thank you for such a clear explanation.
these videos really save me hours upon hours of reading from my confusing and expensive text book. Tyler, your work is much appreciated even 3 years later!
Love how you learn and get a bit of personality so it makes things more laid-back. College chem can get very stressful due to deadlines and I appreciate the laugh I got from forgetting to circle one and making sure to do it on the next.
Hi Tyler thank you for all your amazingly understandable videos. I wish my professor taught like this =) ...my favorite video this far is " let's party all night long with mole ratios!"
Laura Sandor Well looking at it, Oxygen has a charge of -2 and Iron 2 (or ferrous as I prefer to call it) has a a charge of +2 so while you could technically have a compound like that it would be unstable and would end up reacting with the oxygen in the air to produce Ferrous Oxide.(ferrous oxide is FeO you would just have 3 molecules of it)
just really wanted to say that this helped SO MUCH for me. The way you put the information together was smooth and easy going. My teacher speeds through lessons so I often have a hard time keeping up.
Why can't teachers at school go over it like that? Not only is it easier, it's also quicker. You're the best, I've learned more in 2 hours on this channel than I did for 2 weeks in my chemistry class, my teacher is terrible. Big thanks!
Hello! This channel is amazing, my uni lecturer is so vague with all of his lectures. I see what he is teaching and then I jump straight onto this page, so well explained!! Thank you so much. All the way from Brisbane, Australia.
Thank you for your content. Tutoring my daughter today in freshman chemistry. She has dyslexia and your instruction is simple to follow. Thank you for the lesson.
The way that oxide kept moving lol... I cant thank you enough tho you teched me more in ten minutes than a whole hour when it comes to my actual science teacher... Love you my guy
you are amazing thank u so much for this. so straightforward and easy to understand. i learned more in a 10 min vid than an hour of my teacher talking.
sir i know this is 9 yrs ago but dam this video helps me a lot (1st year college student) thank you for not deleting it cuz I find it very helpful on my studies
Dude, you showed me more in 10 minutes than what my teacher showed me in a whole month. Thanks again, you are the main reason why I always get 100% on my tests. Much love and kisses, your friend, Polariz09.
man, you're great. the format of these videos are so efficient, easy to understand. I just hopes you'd have specialized on Quantum Physics too and explained it in the same format :) Good job, thanks a lot !
look at all of the views on covalent bonds. love your work and great just to come back to this type of easy to understand teaching. keep doing what you're doing.
Thanks for the videos. It helped me with my chemistry midterm. You sure have a talant to patiently explain chemistry to our understanding . Thank you !!!! May God keep you safe and secure so you can be a great help for many people around you!!!

This here is the definition of what a great teacher truly looks like.
You legit cut my studying time in half!!!
you could say that in a negative way or a positive way
your passion for teaching and excitement for chemistry is infectious. Hopefully my exam in a couple days goes well. With these videos you've made, I truly have no excuses.

+Jacqueline Garcia I know right?!
Lucas Cousin you 'too' need a new English teacher
Lucas Cousin rip
@Lucas Cousin You messed up too..

Drinking some dihydrogen monoxide when watching this video
lai yong hui some how it took me some time to figure out
lol
i thought that meant bleach before realizing its H2O
I prefer hydrogen oxide or hydrohydroxic acid myself.
With hydrogen prefix should not be used...so it is hydrogen monoxide
WOW! You cleared up the million questions I had in 10 mins. All million of my questions came from a 4hr lecture I had in Chem today
.. Thank you
I never take chemistry ever and I'm 50yrs old trying to help my son with his chemistry. I'm glad I found you. Not only I'm getting better at this but my son is improving his chemistry. Thank you so much
You are so great. Very organized and thorough! Absolutely emaculant! Keep it up the exceptional work!

Anyone else here because their chemistry teacher sucks at teaching?
Yes

Hell yes, my teacher is horrible
ArashiyamaBaby does your teacher own a moonshine plant
My teacher copy and pastes sentences from the book to the board for the whole period without explaining a thing.

Hani Xax ik its a bit late but how did you do?
did you?
im 2 years late, did you pass?
She’s out
Can you come slay me next babygirl?
These videos are teaching me more than my professor/book/homework etc has been able to. Thank you Tyler!
I could cry happy tears from watching your perfectly explained videos. Thank you!! Thank you!!
Why is it I can watch 20 minutes worth of TH-cam videos and pass a test? But when I listen to the teacher for the entire year I fail???
UR THE BEST TEACHERR EVERRR OMGGG THIS SHII MAKE SO MUCH MORE SENSE I HAVE A SCIENCE QUIZ TMR AND DID NOT GET ANYTHING, NOW I GET EVERYTHINGG DAMNNNN THANKYOU TYLER!!! lmaoo ion know why all caps tho also 9 years ago almost 10 goes crazyyy

This was so helpful. I understand the concepts better than sitting in class. Thanks Tyler!

Love how you learn and get a bit of personality so it makes things more laid-back. College chem can get very stressful due to deadlines and I appreciate the laugh I got from forgetting to circle one and making sure to do it on the next.
These videos are the only reason I am not drowning in chemistry.
Why can't teachers teach like you? I like my teachers, but you explain it so simply and I immediately understand. Thank you!!!!!

im only here because my teacher doesn't teach us anything, she just sends us to tyler lol
i have seen most tutorial videos but Tyler is the best online tutor.
Is that correct in 1:09? Has iron(II) oxide Fe3O2 formula?
Laura Sandor I was wondering the same thing.
Laura Sandor Well looking at it, Oxygen has a charge of -2 and Iron 2 (or ferrous as I prefer to call it) has a a charge of +2 so while you could technically have a compound like that it would be unstable and would end up reacting with the oxygen in the air to produce Ferrous Oxide.(ferrous oxide is FeO you would just have 3 molecules of it)
No
I completely love the way you teach but above all when you smile. Thanks for teaching :)
you are my hero bro, great lecture!
just really wanted to say that this helped SO MUCH for me. The way you put the information together was smooth and easy going. My teacher speeds through lessons so I often have a hard time keeping up.
