This episode the jungle armed freak gifted me his fire stricken olds 98 diesel. Will it make it home 70 miles?
6.5L SWAP WOULD BE PRETTY FUKIN SWEET
its a possibility!
oh hellllll no! at least turdbo the 350 first!
7.3! or just honda or something. Murica!
I'd like to put a turbo on a 5.7 without destroying it, the early ones had too few heads bolts. I had a 6,2 diesel (1982 K10) , I always wanted to put the Banks turbo on it, and put it in a '80s Oldsmobuick or somethin' else
Good Lord it would need a whole new front end every 5,000 miles. 6.5 is a heavy turd of an engine, it's reliable but it's not winning any races.
That great GM feeling just like cramps before diarrhea
Love the loud exhaust
And she’s rollin a little coal
This reminds me of my 1976 Buick Skylark that had an Olds 260 V8...105 HP. It'd do 80...eventually.
2.78 rear gears on top of it... I think at the GM board meeting they are like "who needs any kind of acceleration, when you got all the velour!" hahaha
@@CompleteToiletGarage Good point! Lmao
It will drive 80 all day out west. On NY highways it lieks 65-70
This thing needs an external turbo like the minivan got!
hahahaa fck... that'd be a sight to see!
Hell yeah!
IDI would be cool but I think you rebuild one of those 350s and keep one more of them alive and on the road.
atleast one of em is getting rebuilt for sure
Hell yes! I'd be daily driving that beauty 🤘🏻
oh she is! Love this boat!
finally another video from pegs brother from another mother
My younger brother wants one of those olds 5.7s for his 79 scottsdale C10, if I was you id just rebuild it and run it till it wears out again they are gettin rare. Even down here in Louisiana
yeah, they are definatly rare birds for sure! Not tossing it in the garbage by anymeans
i been looking the last 3 yrs with no luck. all the runners up north here in MI or around are going for 4k+
Juggle Arm Freak has himself a nice Korean Rickshaw there.
Thanks bud! Its a good lil runabout.
I’d like to see you rebuild one of the olds for a video or two!
Either way, an olds diesel is gettin rebuilt!
Seeing bikes in the middle of march in the New England area isn't out of the normal, even if it's 40 out.
Us New Englanders can take a bit of cold
Can be in the 20's and I know a fella out in the Boston area that will ride unless it gets below 10 degrees outside. 😊
G'day Wes. Damn great to see the old bird moving again 👌 I hope thing's have been well for y'all over there.
🍺🍻👊
@@elroyelblander6277 G'day mate 👌 🍻🍻🍻
Howdy Rick! Still above ground here... somehow... hope all is well with you buddy!
I did drive the car for a month or two before water pump broke. I have video clips but I don't have time to edit and post crap
I'd be careful with ether that Olds might be addicted to the special sauce one day 😂
You must know of slave lake
hahaha she's only addicted, because the underlying problem of the glow plug harness being melted.
The only problems I ever ran into with addiction is running out 😮
ahhh hes finally back!!
still breathin, still above ground, not taking a dirt nap yet... good days still to be had!
This being a diesel, it don't have to pass emissions. You can have any engine and exhaust
being as old as it it in NY, its just a safety only inspection regardless. I can have a god damn steam engine in it if I wanted hahaha
I think she needs a complete toilet garage restoration! No fancy parts, just clean her up and make her the gem she originally was! Could even get a an air ride setup going to make it a certified land yacht.
At 2:06 that little Mouse was looking right at You! I think he was saying OH SHIT!! 🤣
He has returned
hahaha still here... somehow
I just watched the first 26 seconds of this video as my first ever exposure to your channel and immediately subscribed.
I'd run the donor motor and drive it, meanwhile rebuild the existing motor and swap it back in when its ready along with a turbo. Should be interesting to follow along no matter the direction you go with it.
atleast one of em is gonna get a rebuild, might just be doing this for now... but who knows with my caveman brain lmfao
@@CompleteToiletGarage So gasket slap it is. =-)
I got my grandma's 80 Pontiac Bonneville . I got a tank like that in the trunk to expect mines a propane tank its been running on propane most of it's life.
awesome sht! propane and propane accessories! haha
I love the Nissan Hardbody for several reasons but yall are repping my school EAST CAROLINA ! GO PIRATES ! Signed a derelict north carolina native.
I believe the jungle armed freak got it from NC
I bought the truck 50 miles east of RDU airport. I don't have NY inspection yet so I left the novelty plate up front to avoid the cops lol. Thanks. Its a heck of a lil truck
@@workingcountry1776 Well if Upstate ever gets worse you can come join us down here in the land of pollen mosquitos and pork based foods hah.
@@spartan92296 I really enjoyed my time in NC and VA, especially rural area around Spring Hope where i bought it.
those diesel engines were lucky to run drive at all, let alone long enough to go anywhere. 🤯 not sure what GM was thinking.
Holy crap it's been awhile since I've seen those roads. haven't been north of Binghamton in about 3yrs
I'd say do the ole international but that's just me
If I could find one for cheap, with a 5 speed, its an option.
Think you'll ever take one of those v8 Oldsmobile diesel engines and convert it to gas, make a race engine out of it?😎👍
I wrote the above before the end, yes do the above to one of those 350 Olds diesels. The interior is very plush indeed, the outside should match, patina is way over rated.
Would make a great sleeper with a converted to gas, bored and stroked 350 Olds diesel. Bolt a th400 to it or a built 200R4 and do some drag racing videos? To bolt gas heads to one of those blocks you just need to drill the head bolt holes for the larger diesel block tapped holes. You should be able to get over 400 cubes out of it. Racing in luxury, keep the AC working too.😎👍
I'd like to do it with one of the engines as much as I like the diesels better, can't destroy a built olds gasser with this block!
@@CompleteToiletGarage
Fair enough, you do have 2 of them though so maybe for a different vehicle? Whatever you decide, I'm ready to watch.😎👍
Very similar to my Land Rover, very good at transforming diesel into noise and driveline vibration and eventually some movement. Not much but some.
love turning diesel into noise hahaha
Man I need weekly content
Id drive that as a daily driver! maby rebuild or up date the engine.
There's gonna be atleast one of em getting rebuilt... gotta save up for the machine shop work. Sht aint cheap to do it right hahah
built 1.9 TDI just for the freakness of it, I already hate the idea after typing that sentence but hey, can't be assed hitting that backspace
haha some things cant be unsaid!
First waterblock filter rebuild one of the 350 diesels and squeeze the 6.5 into the Corvette
gotta finish off part 3 of the vette with the 4.3 v6 diesel then who knows hahah
I heard some rumors that you can make insane gassers out of these engines, maybe need to swap the head from a diesel to gas and couple of other things and it’s a gasser
yes these diesel blocks=strongest gasser olds engines ever
Well look at you sporting that sassy luxury carriage, you must have some of the Prince Charles loot!
You should really call up Pisser down at the HackNPackShop to have him fix the body on it.
That would be one hell of a collaboration.
You know he's making videos again? Really awesome videos at that!
my personal rule is of a motor still runs in the car, it dont come out till its dead dead. so i vote external turbo rolling coal viking send off, then evaluate suitable replacements
Hey it might not be fast but it might as well sound fast!
Sounding fast is going fast... but not really hahaha
Damnit you went by my store and you didn't even stop in to say hi :)
hahaha shit what store was that fella?
@@CompleteToiletGarage sorry I missed it. You went the other day. Greene's Ace in WP
That thing is a piece of s$$t! Love it!! Just do the custom spray from cabin Cosby sauce pipe until you figure out how much money you want to pour in to that beauty. At least you can move it around that way without freezing your a$$ off.
2:06 Are we just gonna skip over that mouse and Stuck. In between the
Breather and filter ?Poor little feller has had a hell of a ride.
Honestly, I didn't see a mouse, I'm gonna have to go look for the little guy hahaha
@@CompleteToiletGarage Update, I think it was really windy that day.Maybe it was a brown leaf.I went back and looked three times just to make sure. Lmfao.
yeah, that was a leaf, blowing in the wind.
someone needs glasses or a bigger screen. 🤣
@@throttlebottle5906 Well I am old as fuck so. probably a little bit of both 🤣 😂

Need to name it "Uncle buck"
It may smoke more than John Candy's car LOL
Put a turbocharger on it send it to the moon
hahhaa yes!
Id say make it functionally nice, aesthetically nice not necessary.
function over form!
Fix the burnt part and keep it as is that car makes sweet music❤❤
I’m thinking head studs, turbo, & send it. If it blows 6.5 swap. Thing sounds like an IDI -2cylinders.
I vote 7.3 swap, that would be absolutely fucking gnarly
just gotta find one for cheap!
@@CompleteToiletGarage find a wrecked one in a yard. pullin from a wrecked car is the way to go, you know it was running at the time
All that blue smoke it must like burning its oil changes
IT LOVES IT! hahah
You should keep it a Diesel but stuff as much HP's in there as you can.., and "fix up" the outside 😉
all the hps! hahah
Turbo 6.5
A friend of mine has a 6.5 turbo in an olds wagon, the factory turbo manifolds puts the downpipe inside the ac box.
That is valuable information I was hoping someone would point out. There have been GM b body 6.2/6.5 swaps, but I dont think i've seen a turbo one. atleast using stock manifolds.
23:10 SLO MO burnout!
the sadest slowest burnout I ever did see haha
@@CompleteToiletGarage its gotta be some kind of record! Lol mite wanna check into that! Haha
As the word of peg leg AMERICA 7.3 IDI that be so controversial and it make a lot of people mad about what you did. That would be a great thumbnail 7.3 idi in a Oldsmobile. Be a eye catcher and peg could clab with you on it
6.5 swap and get the body looking presentable, and drop it a couple inches on steelies. Thing would be badass!
7.3 👌🏻
#1- get a case of diarrhea. #2 open hood. #3 shit all over it. #4 -drive to scrapyard and sell it. # 5 take money and get wasted.
Hell yeah!
I just plopped a BBC out of a rv in mine. I’m thinking a good ole 12 valve would’ve been a better implant. I know you know a guy that can get you hooked up!
Or I just talked my wife through reviving an olds 260 you can have… hahahahahahaaa
the 260 I would be interested in, cause you know me... I love the rare JUNK olds engines hahaha
Those belt systems..
Hello, get a 2004 2008 ford f150 to do burnouts, beatdowns and high revs.
He's back w the majestic jew
still here, still breathing... kinda haha
I didn't know u guys r from NY. Iam from NY as well bulfflo not far me 20 minutes
Finally a car that looks like me
Spray some febreez in that palooka, swap a decent engine in it, replace the crunchy nose, and run it! LOL
hahah
Are there any mods to boost power out of these motors? if so id go through the motor do some upgrades and get a header panel hub caps and a cheapy paint job on it. keep it diesel olds powered
Gapless rings and turbo. Mild boost should deliver 90s minivan performance.
@@workingcountry1776 probably double its power now lol
Raw Garlic , havent had a cold or COVID for 10+ years
If i didn't know better id wonder if your computer pooped itself
turbo and a propane fogger?
Just madmax it😂
Smoke cigrits!
I’ve been waiting for you to get your hands on this ole Gem sweet car man. does this car have a th200-th400 non over drive? I know the first gear is a little better on the OD transmission
Do the 6.5 non ds4 injection pumps work on these engines? Might be some horsepower to be had
the ds4 is the electronic pump... the full mechanical db2 is what they used before the ds4... same pump internally to the db2 on the olds... different mounting pattern and different pump drive shaft otherwise
The car has the 200-4R overdrive trans in it. The 5.7L DX motor i delivered to his shop couple weeks ago has 3 speed th200
5.9 Cummins in it
If you can find me a cummins for 800 to 1000 I totally would... but between the cummins, adapter plate for a turbo 400 and the other fuckery, i'd have way more in the motor than any of it would be worth hahah
I am just guessing this dude stroked out? It's only been 3 months 💀
I don't think the engine you got in the car is bad. Really wasn't sure at first, but look how much the idle smoothed out by your first stop. And that's running waste oil and ATF in the tank? It barely smokes even toward the beginning of the video. The reason is doesn't have much power up the hills is probably the transmission isn't downshifting. You might want to check the governor and the detent cable. But these engines were underpowered anyway and it's still a big car - the gas 307 was barely able to keep up on steepish hills with the kickdown working and the secondaries on the quad wide open (remember the speed limit was 55 everywhere in the 1980s). Like, it did it, but not impressively. Even in a lighter car like a Cutlass it felt doggy. And the diesel was slower. Back to the point: I don't see that much actual blowby. You're saying the engine is worn out, but I don't agree. It could run this way for 10 more years if you can live with the performance. It wasn't much better from new. (Your comment about idiot lights and Part 2 spoilers is intriguing - please tell me you didn't overheat it and cook it? They will blow head gaskets if you don't treat them right.) The ATF in the tank might have actually helped it clear out some scud. But it's really possible this car's engine was good when you bought it.
The car looks to be about an 83 or so. These would have had some of the updates to the block and, of course, the 200-4R transmission. I didn't take a close look at your donor. If it has a 3-speed transmission it may be from an older car. Look at the casting #s on the block before you decide what to do. It could be an early block. Or it could be a later one that was swapped in under warranty. If you intend to build it as a diesel - and maybe modify it - the later engines were more reliable. (I think the cutoff was 1981 but I don't remember anymore). Just something to be aware of before you put money into a core.
In general, I don't know about using these blocks and converting them back to gas, but these cars have room under the hood for a tall-deck Olds like a 455, which seems easier. Easier, yet, a shortie like a 350. Or even a 403. Whatever you can find. Once you are switching the car to gasoline, honestly, almost any gas V8 will move that car through the hills with more confidence and less investment. I wouldn't hate you if you LS-swapped it. The finished product would run and drive a lot more like the car this was meant to be than a lot of the alternatives. Drive an early 70s 98 with the 455. They weren't drag racers but they weren't struggling to move.
For diesel, though, I'd choose another diesel, if i were building this car today, with this chassis, if I wanted gas-like performance or better. But it depends on your vision and your budget. A Cummins R2.8? Not much lighter but they will run circles around an Olds diesel. But I think a new R2.8 runs about $12K. There are other modern diesel engines but most of them are around that displacement before they start getting too heavy or large. Here we see the deal with these Olds diesels; the engineers weren't stupid. They knew the design had limitations. They could have pushed a lot more power out of them even naturally aspirated, but they'd have had to add more weight to the engine and/or more machining cost. Compared to a Mercedes naturally-aspirated diesel, they weren't much slower (just less volumetrically efficient). But the Mercedes diesel with a turbo was a lot less frustrating to drive. Even with an automatic (which most Mercs had and nearly all GMs with the 5.7). It wasn't fast but it felt like it was doing its job. So, if you're crazy about diesel and crazy in general, get a bunch of money, find a bunch of alternatives and see what fits under the hood and makes you feel like you've got a proper Oldsmobile.
She's an 83 with factory 350dx 200-4R. I was in the motor. Its shot trust me. I bandaid fixed it but it uses tremendous amount of oil regardless of viscosity or fancy additives. I even tried using a GALLON of Lucas once....
This could be a great teardown video, then. Another good video could be seeing if you can get that 200-4R to kick down; I don't recall but there were a couple of things in the hydraulics that could stick and cause the issue.
Dura max it
you alive there bud?
Go big or go home, 6.5…
going from 50 hp to 65 hahaha
derby it
Throw a turbo on it and see what happens lmao
6.5 swap the car and then shove the olds 350 into something random.
7.3 idi swap NOW
Those engines were garbage when new . Good luck .
👌
In the spirit of bad decisions and why the hell not, ls swap that with a manual. Thats the only option that doesn't make sense, so that has to be the answer.
hahaha I mean it makes so much sense that I'm not doing that. Who needs reliability anyways? lmfao
@CompleteToiletGarage That engine is just losing compression. The folks at Mercedes made a fix for that. They call it a kompressor, you should try one. In America, it's called forced induction. Tell you what, you put you a kompressor on that machine, and you'll have one of the finest automobiles around 😉 👌 😆 🤣 😂
6.5 diesel swap.
🦄
Turbo this engine until it blows up, then 6.5 diesel swap it. It’s the only logical choice.
