So enjoyable! Also, been meaning to mention that the music is perfect!
Question…I remember when, way in the beginning, you had friends holding the camera. Are you using a GoPro strapped to your chest? Cause the photography and sound is great…clean, understandable and everything is always in focus.
Thank you, Alec. Would have LOVED having your type of educational seminars available when I started carving! Then, had to travel to Iowa for the International Carving Congress, where you have taught these last few years. Back then, the only carving education available, for me, was the Congress. Had to drive a long way. Pay for classes. Pay for meals. Pay for hotel for five days. Try to take notes while carving. Forget everything (90%) when I got home. Do it all over again the next year.
Your online classes (I’ve purchased a few) can fill in the “educational” blank between the yearly Congress (which is phenomenal)! Your website classes are well photographed, well explained, REASONABLY priced and can be viewed repeatedly, and best of all “paused” while actually carving.
Dang! Kids got it easy now-a-days!!

Mnogo sam naučio iz tvojih snimaka i vratio veru u svoj rad. Motivisao si me da krenem ponovo, posle duze pauze.
Imam nekoliko radova koje sam započeo pre vise godina, sada razumem da sam se plašio grešaka.
    Hvala puno!

That was unbelievably helpful. Thank you so much I am new to carving so watching a lot of videos so I have a good idea before I do my first carve. I am making puppet heads so would love to see how to do the whole head including the face. But that was really clear.

Hi alec, I love your "easy" videos and watch them many times, and also take notes 😊. I attempted to make this sculpture, with basswood. My problem is with the eyelids, they either chipped or collapse. So, I carved it down and tried your "Santa" and/or "wood spirit" eyes instead, that worked out better. I made the mouth a little too low so I attempted to turn it into a smile, looked more like a smirk, looked a bit like my father so I tweeked it into a caricature of him😂
Thanks again for sharing your art!

    Love getting this lesson.
I'm completing a 4 piece knife set that I built myself and a tiny gouge all less than 2 inches as I plan small structures as I am learning how.
Hopefully I'll love this hobby and I'm 71 and not showing up at flea market for making big $$$$%%
I'm thankful for this learning experience Sir 🙏

Interesting seeing you do most of this face with a skew chisel. And it is so much easier when one can use them - as on that set-up- Compared to a knife and hand -held wood. And the trouble in using gouges to start is of course they gouge out maybe more wood than what you want.
