Having a "P" written on a game box was a thing stores like EB Games/GameStop (and GAME in the UK) used to do, it's there so they don't confuse new and used stock, P meaning Pre-Owned. So, you know that game has gone through one of it's stores at least once during it's lifetime :D As for your copies of Tech Deck, definetely not a fake, it's a second printing of the game, The cart on the right was printed October 2001, and the one on the left (the second printing) was made April 2002. Activision might have used a different company to print the labels, or something simple as different levels of ink.
That makes sense about the P. I kind of assumed, but didn't know for sure haha. That's fascinating. I didn't realize it was just a 2nd printing. I had thoughts of one of them being fake, both being real with one having a replacement label, and a couple of other ideas, but it's good to know it's a 2nd printing for the game. A lot of older games can be difficult to find proper information about. Thanks!
@@JaysConsoleCorner No worries, yeah if you ever see a P on a cart/disc, or the barcode crossed out with a sharpie pen, it's gone through GameStop or EB Games. :) It must have done quite well for Activision to get a second printing, it does seem like a "christmas present game" parents would buy! Second printings are cool as sometimes they're also occasionally have patches to fix glitches in the first release!
There's no harm in double checking, especially if you have the means(tools) to do it, and you know what you're looking for. They do seem to be pretty good about it, and they seem to have noticed their own mistake, as I never informed them after the first box. So it makes me think it's something they actively keep an eye on when packing the boxes. Hopefully the box you get today is a good one!
I couldn't even imagine trying to collect fake games, I have a severe lack of space for real ones, let alone fake ones hahaha But honestly, that would be an interesting exhibit to see in a video game museum or something, a full section of fake games. Being able to compare just how good or bad they were done could be super interesting.
Yea there's no reason to right now, those values just keep going up. Def makes it hard for people looking for them though. Pokemon games are faked all the time.
cool vid. the tech deck chip differences are probably due to one being from a later print run. Randy Montoya's comment abt the low value games not necessarily being bootlegged at the same rate as more collectible games is also correct. i looked the game up on ebay so i could see a bunch of examples of that seal and it looks like a bunch of them have that same offset error, to varying degrees.
Thanks. Yea the more I looked into it, I still don't have a 100% answer, but I'm thinking it's a replacement label by a third party or something. Legit game, fake label type of scenario. I just have a difficult time believing Nintendo would release a product/label with an improper seal on it. A seal of quality that isn't up to quality is kinda ridiculous haha Again, I don't guarantee that's the case, but it's the way I'm leaning theses days.
I can try, but no promises. I'm really not a fan of how I capture handheld footage, so until I can capture handheld footage in better quality, I'll probably wait. I don't want to put out poor quality for you. I can capture some retro handhelds using the Retron 5, but nothing more recent than the Gameboy Advance. If I can find a good way to do it, without sacrificing quality, then I'll definitely give it a shot. I appreciate the comment about this video though!
i know for sure when it comes to game boy games (any gen) , look for a number indention on the sticker. as long as you see that, it is one of your best indicators of the cart being real. all nintendo carts have it when it comes to console generations in my exp. the 64 and snes games i believe are on the back sticker.
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it. Is that not something that bootleggers typically do? I know over the years they're getting more and more accurate with their fakes, but if that's something they're overlooking, then that's great information!
@@JaysConsoleCorner ik for sure that the indention stamp is not easy to replicate. i have never seen it done so it is a little more rare. 99% of the time if it does have the indention, you can tell that it wasnt by nintendo, and also the rest of the cart will have more than obvious tells on the cart being fake.
It would be an odd choice of game to fake, but you never know what people are thinking at any given time haha. It's possible that it's just a poor replacement label. My issue is that the game isn't very popular, so it can difficult to find any true information about it.
I don't have an exact number, but it's not cheap...it's roughly 10-11$ per month. I'm doing the year subscription, so it might vary depending on the length of subscription you try. Assuming you do try it.
So I thought I saw this video that keeps showing up on my feed before. Turns out I never caught it til now. Oh well better late than never .I have been burned buying a new fake super princess peach for ds before. I didn't even know it until someone Saw my ebay listing when I tried to sell it Years later. I always contact RGT whenever they make a goof. They usually replace games with no problem. Peace😎🎮
Haha, glad you finally decided to check it out, hope you enjoyed it! That sucks about the fake game, but that is also really good that Retro Game Treasure support never gave you any issues.
Good video dude. Did you contact them about the fake DS game? Or the duplicate game? I know in June they had a major snafu with duplicate games. They made it right on my July box. I have been with them for 9 months now. I have only had the one issue with duplicates last month in June. All in all they have been a pretty good service for me. I only get cartridge based games. I am sure they would have made it right if you contact them. Good stuff man. Subbed.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! I did not contact them, and I don't really plan on it. The fake DS game was in May, and got a real copy in June without informing them, so they seem to already know there was an issue. While maybe they would send me an extra item one month, or a slight refund, the service has been pretty good for me over the course of 13 months. Because they were able to figure out the issue themselves, I look at it as...mistakes happen...so I'm able to look past it. If it was a repeat issue then I would have a different outlook about it. Did you contact them about your duplicates?
@@JaysConsoleCorner Yeah. I contacted them. They told me they had issues with some of the June boxes due to a glitch with their system, and would add an extra game for July. Another Tuber that I am friends with had the same duplicate problem from June as well. They did make up for it in my July box. Good customer service. They probably deal in such a volume of games that they don’t always catch a fake. That one was pretty obvious though. Really enjoyed the video dude. 🤙🏻
That's good of them, it doesn't surprise me that they have good customer service. I feel like a lot of their customer base found them through word of mouth, so poor service would travel the same way. There's no way they could afford to have poor service. Glad they made it up to you, hopefully it was a good item, especially off your wishlist or something.
You say game boy advance games have nice labels, but pokemon games almost always have beat up labels. I rarely ever see nice or even real pokemon carts anymore.
That is true. Pokemon games seem to be the outlier when it comes to nice labels, but fake and beat up Pokemon games are common across all cartridge platforms, not just GBA. Although this just happened to be when they sent me Pokemon Pinball R/S, and the label was actually in decent condition. Some scratches but no rips. However, when I look at retro games on craigslist/kijiji/thrift stores/flea markets and from Retro Game Treasure, GBA games are more likely to have nice labels compared to any other system that I've noticed so far. Keep in mind, I don't search for everything. Maybe the GameGear typically always has clean labels and I just don't know it. While I do know that obviously, there are GBA games with scratched, ripped or fake labels, the vast majority of GBA games in the wild seem to have nice labels. In my experience, I can find a nice copy of Golden Sun or Metroid Fusion, much easier then a nice copy of Turtles in Time or Link to the Past for SNES.

Makes me want to check the games I've gotten from RGT to make sure they are legit. I should be getting my second box from them today.

At this point I would say that fake games are now just as a collectible as authentic games and deserve their own little shelf.
I couldn't even imagine trying to collect fake games, I have a severe lack of space for real ones, let alone fake ones hahaha
But honestly, that would be an interesting exhibit to see in a video game museum or something, a full section of fake games. Being able to compare just how good or bad they were done could be super interesting.

Can you review the 3ds line of systems?

I still don't see why that tech deck would be fake. It's not worth their time to fake since it's such a cheap game.

It's possible that it's just a poor replacement label. My issue is that the game isn't very popular, so it can difficult to find any true information about it.
the ds game could be a re-label
Well I know for sure the Mario Kart is fake, I opened it up and checked the board. A re-label is possible for the Tech Deck though.
Do you mind my asking how much you pay for shipping to Canada? I'm intrigued by the service, but not sure I can afford it.

Bro u never heard of teck deck!
Toy skateboards, sure. Definitely had some as a kid. As a video game, definitely never knew it existed before this haha
why pay a lot of money for a random shit games when you can just use that money to buy the games your looking for?
