Ngā Taikura o Ngāti Awa - Taikura Kapa Haka 2022

In the Whakatāne region we present a combination of beautiful waiata (songs) and kōrero (talks, discussion) from Ngā Taikura o Ngāti Awa!
Historically, Te Papa has hosted the annual Taikura Kapa Haka event as part of our Matariki celebrations, welcoming kaumātua (elders) groups from throughout Aotearoa.
For 2022, we’ve used the same approach as 2021 and captured each group as they perform kapa haka (Māori performing arts) within their own rohe (region), as well as interviews with members of that group about their experiences within Taikura Kapa Haka and what this means to them in 2022.
