It's interesting to me that this is where you can see the complete change in Scotty's character. He went from this sweet guy to a very jaded, angry man. He still is that man.
Scotty was every bit as human and flawed as Luke and Laura were. His main character flaw was a need to control everything in his life, to make it perfect. He was a grown man who married a 17 year old girl, knowing, in his own words, that he would have to be parent to her as much as spouse. He relished that role, and described it as taking care of her. But there was always a strong theme of control in their relationship. And when that control he thought he had was torn away from him, his desperate need for it was exposed.

He also had poor judgement early on-couldn’t see through Bobbi and was willing to marry her when she falsely claimed she was carrying his child. To what end? To be a martyr? Scotty was as angry with himself as he was with Luke and Laura-for his lack of insight. He ran away rather than deal with his feelings-flight trauma response. If trauma is not processed, it will just show up in different ways. Most of his post-Laura relationships seemed to be more mutual-use societies-no more knight in shining armor for him. Kids softened him a bit, but the original wound never healed completely. Frankly, he’s more interesting as a flawed character. My only complaint: when he came back in 1981 his line delivery was often a combination of Popeye and Daffy Duck. But that’s how his anger came out, I guess.
I agree that it is disconcerting that no one wonders if Scotty murdered Laura. But the character flaw in the character of Laura was that she was known to run when the going got tough. How Scotty and Bobbie could both sit there and say it wasn't rape after Scotty saw her in the hospital traumatized, and how Luke confessed to Bobbie he took her brutally is still hard to accept, but I believe that this is part of that amended storyline in trying to make it look like a seduction.

Oh yes I think thr reason why Laura’s parents let Laura marry at 17. When things went bad for whatever trouble Laura got herself into. Scotty was the only one who could sooth Laura’s feathers So when they did get married her parents knew who and where she was. Plus they liked him because Laura did listen to him. 'Cause I Saw the Whole thing when it aired. He was taunting Laura, and laughing in her face, tore up her love letters, while laughing at her with tears Streaming down her face, So She picked up a heavy Stature like trophy thing and Clocked him in the head with it. She ran out. And He Stumbled around a bit, then Collapsed.
In about 9 months, watch when Laura tells Luke at dinner that they made love on that night at the disco. He denied it was lovemaking there but Laura was chasing him for marriage at the time during ice princess hunt.
I'm surprised that Ruby and Bobbi believed Luke was dead so easily, especially when they know that they are being watched by Smith's men in case Luke comes back. Besides Luke is like a cat with 13 lives.

Anthony Rivera Me too, I had the biggest crush on Roy, Asher Braun, I cried when he was killed off. I still think he was the best match for Bobbie. Now that I know Luke was supposed to be killed off I understand his death but back then I didn't. I was also very sad when the original Rick was replaced, Michael Gregory was handsome and had chemistry with Denise. Chris Robinson not so much, 🤷♀️.

I felt the same way about my big brother Michael ..oh how I still love and miss him each day of me life. ... I feel so dab for Bobbie & her Aunt Ruby .. it must feel like somebody came.along and just ripped out that part of you. ..When all bets are off your best friend,buddy and your brother are gone e from your presence ..Know more for you to ever hold close again in your heart and your arms... Well, the Luke and Laura (especially) Luke propping has begun. Scotty is now officially the bad guy. Why can't writers just stick to grey areas in relationships.
Scotty was let off the hook pretty quickly. He became a bad guy when he came back in the early 80s, in cahoots with Bobbie all the time. Never quite bought that one!
Is Scotty the bad guy here? Even the characters seem shocked that he would be up on a murder charge. I think some of the complication is that KS was looking at joining the Texas cast and wouldn't be around much longer.
Last one for the not-so-wedding in inside the cabin on the yacht, as Jennifer's in shock after Luke goes overboard. When Jeff walks in, she briefly mistakes him for Luke.
I think they were... everything is not here... the scenes without LnL, that were not an integral part of the plot, really didn't make it to the channel.
I will always love the storyline of L&L . Greatest story of love ever. I wish it ended better later on.
