The USS Yorktown- two carriers, two heroic stories, ONE historic name

This is the story of now two WWII aircraft carriers got the same name! CV-5 and CV-10, both named the USS Yorktown! Also, the heroic story of how the first carrier helped win the battle of Midway and how her namesake went on to heroic service in three wars and even picked up the Apollo 8 astronauts!

Such a remarkable story of perseverance and resilience! That’s truly what this country was built on! Mary also when my girls visited that area they saw this beautiful ship! My second daughter loves WW1and WW2 history

Thanks Mary! Yes, it's amazing the first Yorktown carrier got patched up in only three days! It's hard to believe! I'm not sure it could be done today!
