On the top of my head I would probably use something like Kaiju Steam Punks to try and counter this combo. Steam Queen would protect your actions and there is a lot of actions with Kaiju. Zip Line is also very useful against Will Weaton and Control Minion disruptions.
This is really interesting. Every time I think about what faction I'd take against Geeks, my mind keeps coming back to Steampunks. I don't know why I think that, since they do have some singularly powerful actions, but the steampunk recursion can mitigate that. I'm still concerned about them with this combo because of Mechanic and They're Coming to Get You
@@CrankItUp yeah getting Mechanic mind controlled or one of your powerful actions used by the Min Maxing really sucks. But luckily with Kaiju you have options even if your opponent take away one of your actions. I would also play minions on another base that's not scoring while doing my combo so if they take control of my minion they wouldn't contribute to them scoring. If they decide not to control minion I would simply zip line that minion back to the scoring base to finish up my turn. Captain Ahab can also be used to score base in this way by building up power at a non scoring base.
@@CrankItUp with all that said I have not used this combo together before and it could result in unforseen weaknesses. For now it's just a theory of mine that may work to at least frustrate zombie geeks.
Thinking of another possible counter for this combo is Elder Things Vikings. Viking ability to take other people's cards will really miss up the geeks game. Madness cards will slow down the other player by forcing them to lose a action per turn or build up madness. Then the power of madness can take away the zombies power draw. Elder Thing can't be controlled so that's also a plus.
Ironically, I managed to surprise a few of my friends by managing to steal two bases from them with Mythic Horses and Ghosts. (The other two were playing Killer Plants + Luchadores, and -I forgot what the other person was playing-)
i just did the math in order to play every combo it would take 20 days straight if you manage to play a game every 20 minutes and that's being VERY generous. EDIT 1: spelling errors EDIT 2: now 68 days straight
Geeks are such a disgusting faction I'm honestly not sure why I still keep them in my box. They're not even good for newcomers because Banned List becomes dead weight to them.
I would argue that they are bad for newcomers in general because they misrepresent the game in terms of take that. For me, I haven't removed them from the box because i don't know where to put them. maybe I will make a sealed box that should not be opened and preserve them there
For my mother's very first game I allowed her to choose any two factions. She chose Time Travelers and Geeks. She had no idea what she was doing, did not have a good time, found a lot of cards illogical, and I felt bad for her. After that I gave her Zombies and another simple faction and she had a much better time. In my box I've separated out several factions I don't allow in games with first-timers, including Geeks, All-Stars, the Madness factions, and titans.
first mention the combo then start talking about it.... the way its now is kinda nnoying to watch/listen to since ur tlaking about it without us knowing what ur tlaking about... ie you dont start teaching random formulas before telling what they are used for.
The geeks are too OP, imo. Felicia day is too broken. On top of her you’ve got force of will and will himself. Too many strong cards and one is too broken. Plus the fan card means the deck is smaller by four cards. It’s like cheating. Geeks make every faction stronger. What makes a geek combo broken is when the other faction also makes the geeks stronger when the geeks themselves are already making them stronger. I.e. zombie geeks... 😱
It does feel like cheating. Geeks are beatable, but they require everything to go right and force the player to suffer through a lot of pain. This combo in particular just lets the Geeks run wild and I keep thinking, there's no way this was playtested

@SteelsCrow titans can be fine in my book if they're straight forward, also I add Kitties ghosts and Disco into "never give to new players" category.
