    I know I sound like a broken record but you picked the right bus. not to knock anyone, but when I watch the ongoing issues with both of the busses that Sage has and all of the issues I watch on BGM, Gus is a gem. I know you did a lot of prep work to get to where you are but even still you are light years ahead. You and Scott should start a bus driving school, the the two of you make driving one of those look easy,

    I notice the tight steering and sure footing on Gus as you travel on the straights. I get the fever every time I see one of these drivers perspective videos, a very fine cruiser Gus is!

      Gus is quite well mannored on the highway and a pleasure to drive. However he can be a bit of a bear with the manual steering in town.

      @@BusWithUs. It's almost funny when passengers are eyeballing the attractions or the the restroom entrance as you pull in somewhere and you the driver are searching for the perfect spot to park with the least amount of bicep workout when you eventually pull out and on the road again. It's a true art!

    Your camera picks up the engine sound nicely. Back when I was driving busses, I enjoyed driving at night when my passengers were quiet, and I could hear that Detroit singing! I’m driving a truck with a Cummins now, and it just isn’t the same.

    Hello Jason. Nice video, familiar countryside. Guess that was the day I met you and Gus at your local airport? Sounds good on a southern Ontario bus rally, hopefully will have the Canuck safetied and plated by then. 👍🏻

    Gus is a Rock Star... You been watching Tyler aka Indiana Diesel's progress on the interior of his 3751? He's already got himself a little slice of heaven in terms of a Bedroom and Bathroom... Love that you've been going after the windows and mechanicals first [solid choice and I get it being from Ontario myself]. You going to white cap it and paint it Burgundy or Maroon? Like the polish you've been getting up on it. There's this polishing kiit out there for doing aluminum wheels and fuel tanks on Semi's... very impressive. Two thumbs up on the work you've been doing. Congrats! Gus as I say is a winner for sure :-)

    • @BusWithUs.
      @BusWithUs.  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we follow both Indiana Diesel and Bus Grease Monkey! Our focus is getting Gus sealed up and the mechanicals solid, then start on the interior. No point spending money on the inside till its water tight! We're going with the original Greyhound livery and white roof.

    • @BusWithUs.
      @BusWithUs.  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We hope to relaunch the channel in spring. Gus was put on hold last year. You will also notice our channel is demonetized. No more ads! We are doing this for the bus community and to document Gus as we go for ourselves.

    • @BusWithUs.

      I believe on the 4104/6 it is purely for looks. It seems to have been a popular thing years ago to modernize the look.

    Fun trip to take us on. So what was the fuel mileage? One thing i noticed: feels like you shift up too early into 3rd and fourth. You seem to drop just below the powerband. Gus is falling on his face a little? Newer tachs mark the powerband in green and the top in orange. You want to take it up high enough where you don't drop below the powerband.

    • @BusWithUs.
      @BusWithUs.  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I take it all the way up to the governor in 2nd and 3rd everytime. There is a big gap between the gears as it only has 4. The governor is also low, as it needs a new spring (it's turned all the way in).

    When you go to neutral instead of using the motor to help hold you back puts a lot more where on break shoes

      Clutch plates and installation are a hellova lot more expensive and trouble than brake blocks. Below 15 KPH engine braking is useless and down shifting in that speed range just causes excessive clutch wear. Jason is exercising good bus handling. He just needs to slow down shifting. He gets ahead of the engine RPM.
