You did all the careful opening and cleaning, Put a nice sealant on it to close it, which is good work, but you did nothing for the most important part. You did not add new thermal grease/thermal adhesive for where the pcb connects to the case for its heatsinking.

heatsink is on the alluminium case

@@fabioballesteros9841 Yes that is true, but my point was the repairer did not use any thermal grease/adhesive to fill in the imperfections from where the old thermal adhesive was broken loose (the light gray stuff). That spot will not be able to transfer heat well anymore to that side of the case. You don't need to scrape it away but you really should consider apply some new grease/adhesive there to fill in the airgaps.

@@ecurepair there is not a heat point

@@fabioballesteros9841 Yes there is. Look at 7:50. You see the grayish color stuff on right side of pcb? That is old thermal adhesive. Then at 7:56, you see where the cover is flat in that same spot when placed back on? that is because of components on the other side of the pcb that gets hot. They need to release heat on this side of the case.

@@ecurepairi have been workibg with two of those ecus, and nothing is there to deserve the heatsink, try yourself

I’ve seen another video arguing against the use of heat to remove the cover. They suggested the use of brake and clutch cleaning spray to weaken the sealant.

Hi thanks for sharing such a informative video
What about removing the circuit board from the back cover can you make a video on it please
Some ecu's require to remove the circuit board for eeprom etc

Can I clone a lap3 or lozic ecu like this? I have the ability to get the necessary tools as a gift so I'd like to invest the time necessary to learn how to use the tools since it's not costing me anything but time and effort.

Also, there are various people reselling their ecu's that are vin locked. how can I reprogram the vin to work with my car if I buy an ecu that is vin locked?

Kia/Hyundia does not allow reprogram when VIN not matching. We are able to modify VIN for most ECUs. Email info@vepro.ca for further details on specific cases
