  • In this long awaited episode, we struggle with internal battles about whether we can claim success as we tackle the 266 miles trip to this years (2015) Buses by Bridge event in Lake Havasu, Arizona earlier in the year. We also take a closer look at some of the activities of this yearly tradition, which include a chili cook-off contest, as well as a corn hole tournament which competition is stiff for every year, and of course the hot air balloons that fill the skies during the weekend.
Hope you guys enjoy this episode as much as we enjoyed making it.

I love this video, and not just because of the rags to riches story, the strength of character, the split widow VWs galore, the road trip, the EV conversion, the repurposed technology, the dogs, the tequila, the music, the mountains. Well, yeah, because of all those things. Just a terrific slice of life revealed in these 20 minutes. Thank you so much for sharing.

Terrific wisdom offered there: Ignore those who mock you (make fun of you) and you can achieve the goals you set for yourself. Its a cruel world, innit? Wonderful video and excellent project. I look forward to catching up with where you are now, four years later.

PaulBodyBuilder He said 6 years. That would be 6th grade if he didn't go to Kindergarten. When I was in school, 6th grade was still Elementary School. Jr High was 7th through 9th and High School 10th through 12th until they started doing the Middle School route then High School was 9th through 12th.

    • @jehugarcia
      @jehugarcia  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

TekReview's yeah, I was placed in 3rd grade at 11 years old, then skipped to 5th then skipped to 6th mid year, then 7,8th I became self aware and all went downhill from there, 9 and 10th were miserable and I finally dropped out mid year 10th grade. Not a lot of education there, I enjoyed school for maybe 3-4 years then adolescence kicked in and I was not equipped with the social skills I should have learned in the early years of school.

Jehu, The reason why you can think of stuff like this is 'cause you DIDN'T spend that much time in school! In school you only get told by stupid people who can't do anything (so they teach) that everything that they can think of (not much) has already been thought of ...... I know this 'cause I'm a farm boy that went and got a EE degree 30 years ago and I still KNOW the teachers, like my sister, don't know much of anything.
Keep learning, thinking, and doing stuff that few have the guts to try. - Very Cool.

I believe in you. Lots of millionaires did not have a high school education. We have two things in common, a love of VWs and electric vehicles. Because of this I loved the whole video. Looking forward to hearing more from you. All the best from Maleny Queensland Australia.

I watch a lot of your videos, this is the one that made me want to subscribe. I originally wanted to comment on the haters because of the viscerally sick reaction they evoked, however they are quite simply worth far less than the time it took to write this sentence. I like that you are genuine, and give practical evidence based information. By the way, my dream project is to convert an old Honda del Sol. Your videos help keep that dream alive for me. You are what I consider, Real People.

this is awesome ... I have both a Roadster and an S and have long thought that a "body swap" with a Tesla drivetrain and a VW camper shell would be the perfect road trip vehicle ... travel the country using not only the Supercharger network, but many campgrounds have 240 lines for RVs ... pull up, plug in, recharge, AND run the heater all night without getting carbon monoxide poisoning ... win/win

When I build my one it will be based on your work but much more advanced and can go six hundred miles on a single charge. 90% is it is your work ten per cent is mine but that ten per cent is all that matter for long distances on a single charge. Great achievement. Love to see your success. I'm building 14.8 volt packs. 80 cells per module at 4.1 volts x 4 cells so 320 cells per pack for solar purposes.. Was difficult to achieve because of the 16.4 volt max of cells and all inverter's support up to 15v peak input. boost and buck converts helped to stabilize and give me longer drain periods because of the voltage difference from 16.4 volts to 10.5 volts.. Longer drain period for cells on inverter's. .but with that said thanks for your vids on helping me to build packs..Peace and love..

I'm thinking of using spare cells to build my own PowerWall, Would love to find out what inverters you used and how you wired them

This is the type of project that I'd need a shed out in the woods..
No one to distract me and just do it.

Wow, this is such a cool and interesting video. Very nice project Jehu. Respect for building something like that without being a millionair. Love the editing and all these beautiful pictures. And the music is very well chosen.

I think this is my favorite video of yours. Always loved road trips, and the music you added very enjoyable. The extra information always good.

Nice I saw a lot of people saying to install solar but that's added weight. If you can afford thin stick on solar panels that stick to the roof and will form to the vehicles curves and flat surfaces it could be done just the cost would be high. Air dynamics will give you more range. Less drag more miles.

Amazing that with the exception of Tesla all EV on the market can barely get 90 miles and your garage built EV nearly doubles that! Great work!

I remember when Jack showed your videos years ago and I looked forward to them. I wondered why you no longer were on his VLOG. I consider you remarkable and average you are not. Now that I know your story I am even more impressed.
I got into an arguement with Jack years ago about graphene that it was stronger than steel and harder than a diamond etc and he called me an idiot, although all the claims I made about graphene included the hyperlinks to the research siting the claims.
I think about a year later he admitted he was wrong about graphene.
So don’t let him get you down and I really enjoy watching your VLOG.

Great video! Good to hear from you again. I have been s busy with personal stuff and work I have had little time to work on EV projects. It looks like the Samba is coming along slowly but surely. I still think it is one of the more interesting and fun EBV conversion I have even seen. Thanks for another cool video!!!!!

Nice job man keep up the good work and there will always be someone to try and steal your thunder (its how they feel better inside!) My battery is now 3 years old (with used laptop cells) and I discovered a new issue and need to dig into it where my battery has suddenly become very weak. I just finish balancing and rewiring a new ground wire and noticed at full speed the battery sags in V so low after 4 miles the controller shuts down. I used to be able to go almost 25 miles at full speed, so will run a test on each bank and see where the loss is coming from.
