We had this happen with our first dog, a chocolate lab. He was barely 1 year old and we had just moved across the country. My husband was playing frisbee with him in our backyard when 2 full grown Rottweillers ( a male and female), came out of nowhere and attacked my dog. Thankfully our dog was a very fast runner so the most damage was claw scratches along his back and a lot of psychological damage. I was in the kitchen and heard my husband yelling loudly, "get off of him!!" I dropped what I was doing and ran outside to see my poor Hershey running for his life. He saw me and ran and hid behind my legs. The female Rotty came running right towards me to get at Hershey. I bent over with my arms out like a bear and growled loudly at her. She immediately stopped and growled back at me. I kept growling louder, even kicking towards her to make her back off. These 2 dogs, an unaltered, mated pair were visiting a neighbor a few houses down the street and saw our dog through the window. They were inside that house and broke through the window to get at my dog. I remember it so clearly how unafraid I was to protect my dog. The owners of the dogs came running after all the trauma was already done. They got an earful from both of us. Our Hershey was never the same after that incident. He was fearful of every other dog he encountered, even very small breeds. He'd shiver and shake at the sight of another dog. I found a doggy daycare nearby where the owner was a certified dog trainer and she helped us get him through the PTSD.
Glad to see Tula is going to be okay. :)

Wow. I just posted my dog was attacked I did not say that the attacker was also a Rottweiler. Was in his fenced yard and somehow got out and ran straight to us and attacked my poor babe and yes traumatized him in many ways.

Good for you that you were able to protect your young lab. I hope that time and effort allow it to be more relaxed and to live out its brief enough life with you all.

Doc this is great time. I was at park with my best friend and he is onleash, ( I have an norwegian elkhound/Akita mix name Hanz . He adopted me and is a treasure! He is very friendly and non agressive dog (good trainers)). Two dogs come up to us and no leash on or collar. They had hair raised and coming towards us. Owners were nevermind there dogs, which is bad. My dog remained calm and little whinning grumbbling, but he and I was not trusting as they approached us. I just learned from cycling and being chased by dogs, to stand with legs wide and look big i just shouted No! To them and they stopped and still approach us, then i yelled loud at them, they came closer and i yelled again and they turned and left. Then owmer walks slow to their dogs ans does not even grabb them just turns an walk away not get their dogs. I dislike owners who do not control their dogs and can appreciate your story. Thank you and my Hanz and I are safe. I am so glad you and Tula are safe. 👍Guðmundur🇮🇸

Never walk without a weapon. Be situationally aware. Prevention is key. Make sure your dog trusts you and obeys off leash no matter the distraction. Screaming, yelling commands, loud noises, stomping as you run towards, work for distraction. Do not pull your dog, grab the attacker from behind, grabbing skin of neck close to head so it can't turn to bite you. Or beat the dog into pulp with your weapon.

I had my husbands service dog chained in our garage Birdie was asleep. . out of no where a pitbull burst into our garage like a rocket knocking me down. I had my arm still in a sling from complete rotator cuff repair...I was screaming at the attacking dog and from pain.. Birdie the service dog was being shook by the neck 14 pounds of dog being hammered on the concrete. Birdie rolled belly up squealing and peeing ..I hit the dog with a wooden bamboo stick it tried to bite me ..then saw a fire extinguisher I grabbed it and sprayed it on the face..that dog let go fast as its owner heard me squealing in pain and fear...the owner said sorry she doesnt like small dogs....I cant believe this girl said that...I said then why do you let her out your house unleashed when 75 %of our retirement community have small dogs ? not are you ok is your dog okay...thank goodness Birdie had a heavy choke chain on and a heavy leather training collar and another cloth collar...I had forgotten to remove two after a training session because it saved her from being punctured she was a bit bruised but no broken skin. she hopped for a few days.. I called the animal control officer who gave the owner a stern warning and told them the dog had to be muzzled in the future...but despite the warnings they continued to let the dog out to roam the neighborhood ...they have moved away but there are a few new aggressive dogs in our neighborhood now...I dont care how crazy I look I carry a kitchen fire extinguisher and or wasp spray...I have a primal right to protect my husbands service dog and myself...I cant understand irresponsible owners...one of my neighbors Karen has a 125 pound pit and she is a huge sweet love bug who wouldnt harm a fly...and thinks she is a dainty 10 pound lap dog....its not the breed it's the irresponsible owners. Dissertation over ...

I agree.Owning a dog is a responsibility. When a dog has bad behavior it becomes habitual so it should be corrected as soon as possible.I have 3 and they only stay in our yard and at this time I am always with them. They are not allowed to roam in other people's yard as one must have respect for other people. Two of our dogs are large so they are always leashed. Our poodle is 15 years old so inour yard she is not leashed but I am always walking behind her.If the occasion occurs we are out of the yard then she is leashed.I pray mine are never attacked as I would not handle that too well.

This was rather timely but couldn't have helped this situation.
My girlfriend 's friend bought a German Shepard puppy 2yrs ago from a breeder. Neither my friend nor I thought this was a good idea
because, she is 75yo and her husband is a healthy (right now)
85 yo......neither of them ever owned a dog before. But her friend was stubborn and I think did not make a good decision for obvious reasons as well, as there are dogs in shelters and rescue groups who need homes. Now we flash forward to last Sat. 8/11/19.
Her friend was insistent on getting another dog....a puppy, from the same breeder. Despite some people trying to convince her not to do this!!!!. Anyway, last Saturday, the puppy arrived very skinny and bones showing, from the breeder who said the puppy's mother was I'll and could not nurse this puppy....but she sent it from Georgia to New York City anyway.
    The owner introduced the 100lb
2 yo to the puppy in the back yard.
Then she took them in the house to eat, and after the puppy ate, the 100lb 2 yo swatted the puppy, fatally causing internal bleeding despite the owner standing between them. I think the puppy was bleeding out and despite being rushed to a vet, it died very guickly.....there was nothing the vet could do. This is a horrible event and I blame the owner. And the breeder, for sending out a emaciated puppy. Despite the 2yo having had training.....the owner was stupid for #1, getting another dog, and for not using any brains or common sense when allowing the dog and the not even 8lb puppy to be so close together around the 2yo's food. Because of her stupidity this little 8wk old puppy is dead. I feel the breeder was negligent for sending out a puppy that was grossly underweight and had not been nursed. The breeder also didn't give this woman any information about bringing a puppy into the house with what 100lb dominate 2yo Male. The most blame I do put on is that the women who insisted getting another puppy without being prepared and knowledgeable about how to approach this deadly and dangerous situation. Animals suffer for people's stupidity!!!!

I actually disagree I think having an even number of dogs is much better whenever I get a second dog to make a pair the older of the two loves the play buddy 4. I have a sweet Pit Bull who was attacked by a large dog not on leash - he was with his owner, and made a bee-line for my boy. What’s crazy scary was it took me a moment to react because I was so shocked. I finally pried the other dog’s jaws apart to get him off my dog, and then kicked him hard, which made him turn and run back to his owner. Who began screaming at me.
I wish people would keep their dog on leash, unless in a designated off-leash area - it is safer for everyone. I find most people who don’t leash their dogs are aggressive and arrogant themselves, a trait they may have passed on to their own dog. Trying to reason with them after the fact is a waste of breath.

This has me thinking, since my neighborhood is full of negligent off leash dog walkers. A good stern WHOA with a stop sign hand signal worked for my neighbor recently when he encountered a pair of aggressive shepherds. Pepper spay can backfire, sickening and blinding all including you. I'll avoid that. Stick is tried and true, especially since you can use it to poke the aggressive dog in the eyes. That may be the only option for something like a bully breed that refuses to release its bite. Plus, there are collapsible batons made for self defense that are easy to carry. Stun gun is an option, but you may have to get too close to the brawl, but I like the idea of something that makes a loud pop. 🤔

Thanks! This is an important topic to cover because how we react when animals fight could stand between life and death in certain situations. I just wanted to add a tip that helped me in a bad situation I found myself in. With this tip however it requires two people. I'm a rescuer and several of the dogs I've rescued over the years, I've rescued from extremely abusive situations. At one point I had two large male dogs who initially got along great. Then one night something triggered one of the dogs and it became a death-defying fight between the two of them. They each had their teeth locked into each other and there was no separating them. Someone had told me the best way to break up two dogs fighting like this was to have two people and each grabs and raises the hind legs of the dogs fighting. Once you do this, you pull them apart and of course quickly get them in separate areas. Fortunately I was not alone and we did this and it worked. Had I not known to do this, I don't want to think about how injured the dogs could have been. Since this helped me, I thought I would share.

At the dog camp I previously worked at, if there were any altercations, I found taking hold of their (the aggressive one) back legs raised very helpful. Often times, as you experienced, it happens so fast that the response is unconscious. The suggestion of calm and assertive is much more powerful than given credit as well. Fear can have us react in ways that aren't helpful.

My Bernese was once held in a grab by a Pitbull, you know when they hold your dog down, not really wanting to hurt it. The owner made it worse by screaming and kicking the dog. I basically told the owner to shut up and sit down, then held his snout shut till he had trouble breathing. Not the smartest maybe but I showed him I was calm and not gonna back up. Finally he snapped out of his jawlock and hid behind his owner. My Bernese had a minute of confusion and not trusting anyone but eventually came to me and showed no sign of any harm. I told the Pitbull owner to get professional help and not show up at the dog park anymore with a dog this confused.

When this happened to my dog both my dog and the attacking dog were leashed, the golden broke from its owner and knocked me over which sent my dog scampering to avoid danger. He was nipped on the side but thankfully with no long term damage and more scared than anything else. He has no residual fear of dogs. Everyone always says what they would do when this happens. Trust me, it happens so quickly you have no time to react. So thankful Tula is ok.

I am so glad you made this video. I live in an apt. building, it's a walk up with a spiral staircase. I was walking down from the 4th floor to give my Millie a walk, and these people (I am guessing recently moved in the building), had their dog off leash coming in from the entrance (spanning a pretty long hallway/corridor). Anyway, as I we are rounding the lobby/first floor, where they live, their dog comes and attacks Millie out of nowhere. I am telling you it was so surreal, a millisecond. As far as I could tell, their dog was a rescue pit-mix, probably 20lbs or so heavier than Millie (who is also a "pitt" mix). The owners were a couple, and the girl was hyperventilating (OMG OMG OMG, I'm so sorry, OMG OMG OMG, I'm so sorry). S/he had its teeth sunk into Millie's neck for a good minute or two. I was panicking too. This happened about a week ago. I don't know what unhinged their dog's grip. A neighbor came down to see what was going on and I think that second of distraction is what did it. I rubbed coconut oil on the area (and give it to her in general from time to time), and the scar is still there, but she is acting normally (with her breathing, temperament). I didn't think to shave the area, I was just combing through it with my fingers. I should have put on antiseptic or something else , like you were saying... would Iodine or Hydrogen Peroxide work?
Anyway, just wanted to share my story and thank you for this video. The neighbors did offer to pay for a vet bill if needed, which I thanked them for... I don't want to give them a speech about how they need to keep their dog on a leash, and maybe get it some training. I didn't want to escalate the issue. We do have a very full no-kill rescue dog shelter not from from this area, he may have come from there, Who knows. Millie is sleeping comfortably now.

IMO you should have taken your dog to the vet and have let them pay for it. They need to learn a lesson ....your dog or another dog might not be so lucky the next time!!!!!

@@susanmurrell635 I know I have so thought about that. Now I think it's too late, even though she is still healing. They do need to learn a lesson. I am actually still upset about it, and I can't even afford a vet visit right now, so I should've taken them up on it. It would've been perfectly reasonable to do so. Damn... I love my baby girl so much, yet I was in "people pleasing" mode or something

Being calm is extremely hard at this second. My first and ONLY time taking my girls to the dog park was so horrible. At first my girls was having such a great time being able to just run and be off leash. Thankfully one of my son's that's grown was meeting me there. I look up saw a guy who already had his Pit off leash when they got out. I started getting my girls hooked back as quickly as I could, you know that gut feeling you get I had. I was able to get my girls on leash BUT you have 3 gates you have to go through to get out. All a sudden I hear the man give command to the pit, it is now full on attacking my girls through the first fence. My bigger girl dragged me she's defending me , herself and her little sister and by now that little girl sounds like she's some Doberman. My son comes in and you know he had to go through the area where the pit is in order to get to us. Now my son's already trying to barley walk with a torn ligament around his knee area just few days before this. The pit turned jumped and scratching both his arms and legs and I'm in shock the man never called his Pit off my son. He finally gets into where we are. I hand him the little dog said don't let her down. I'm fighting to get my bigger girl back close to me, to get the leash as short as possible. I know shorter it is the less pull she has. Dear Lord, just let me get out. I can't put them over the fence to keep from going through because they are 8 foot high. Don't think I didn't try to figure that one out. Finally I get my girl away from the fence and the pit. Check my son making sure he's not bit. I should have called the police but at the time I just wanted to get my girls out. Neither of my girls had ever been around this type of animal before not even stray, dropped off dogs. They didn't even chase a old cat that decided to take up living outside at our house. As soon as I think ok I got this, son and little dog safely out and now for me and this girl. I hadn't cleared the gate but had gotten my big girl out it I hear the guys girlfriend calling this pits name saying go get now attack. Here it came full run, I barely got the fence shut when it hit it. WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THAT TO ANOTHER ANIMAL? I'm not mad at the pit I'm furious at the humans. Now I am dealing with the aftermath. Where neither of my girls had Ever offered to show aggressive behavior now the bigger one has issues when she sees another dog other than her little sister..i don't know how to get this to go back away, to stop. I know I'll never go back to any dog park.

Carry bear spray you won't have any problems! Keep your dog on a leash and under control . Don't spray the aggressor dog! Use the spray to lay down a vapor barrier on the ground. Never seen a dog cross the barrier. Use your Command Voice. Trying to tone the situation may not work. My terriers are not large or aggressive but have been targeted by red zone dogs. I rely on bear spray if that does not work , I can always go to my gun. Thank God it has never come to that. I have Bear Sprayed a angry owner and I can say it put him down quickly without injuring the dog. Works on bears to!!

I always carry a canister of pepper spray. I would have no issue with giving the dog a shot of the pepper spray if it were attacking my dog. As an added benefit, it is one of those sprays that has a florescent dye in it, so it would be easy to identify the attacking dog later. There are so many dogs in this area. Most are walked on leash but some are just allowed to run in their yards and occasionally escape.

Thank you for this video. This happened to me 3 years ago. My dog is a big 70 lb dog that I was in the middle of training to walk without reacting to other dogs. And wouldn’t you know he reacts great and this dog in my neighborhood comes out of nowhere, like it broke out of a fence, and attacks. Even with 2 people we couldn’t get it to stop quickly and we had bad reactions. Finally managed to scare the dog off and luckily my dog was not hurt. I actually got hurt. I’d love to see an updated video in case you have any new suggestions. Since then my dog hates other dogs and will react by barking like crazy no matter what I do. It’s been so difficult to try and get over my own anxiety when seeing other dogs, and it doesn’t help that in this neighborhood so many people let their dogs off leash (HOA rules are they need to be leashed). I myself have never been scared of dogs, but my dog senses my anxiety FOR him and he reacts. So glad Tula was okay! It would be awesome to see some of how you train your dogs. They trust you so much!

Thank you for the great tip. I will keep reminding myself of this every time I take my doggie out, specially to a dog park. This is my worst fear since I have a 15lb gentle doggie and there was once this 120-150 lb dog who came out of my field of vision and dragged his handler like a rag doll and shoved his face on my doggie. This happened in less than 2-3 seconds. I was terrified and instinctually grabbed his leash too to try to stop him as my bf tried to pull my doggie away. He dragged both of us (his handler and I) without a problem. Fortunately, he didn’t bite but it would have been fatal if he did. It made me realize I needed to be more aware of my surroundings and this tip will help me get some peace of mind. Thank you!!

One of mine, has been attacked 3 times, the last one from a large dog, mine an acd. I made him run in circles around me so the other dog didn't bite him, I yelled at the other dog and didn't work, I didn't kicked because even though he was attacking my dog I still was concerned for him and i didn't want to hurt him or break a rib. I pushed him with the bottom of my shoe to make him lose balance and fall while he was running after my dog(on leash) in circles around me, it worked little bit but he only stop until he got tired and i thought he was about to bite my dog so I stopped walking in circles and let my dog to turn back and defend himself, between my dog defending himself and me unbalancing the attacker, it finally stopped. Since then i carry a flashlight-taser, the noise of the taser has been enough dissuasive and has save my dog from getting attack in multiple times, there are a lot of stray and dogs off leash, the weird thing is that the stray dogs are the most docile and balanced dogs, they ignore my dogs when we walk by. My dogs only have been attacked or charged by off leash dogs(that have owners), but i know that there is a dog out there that is not noise sensitive and the flashlight-taser may not work any more. I have other small schnauzers and an Akita was coming to attack at full speed, mine run behind me and between some bushes, that time I actually had to use the taser, I used the taser on the akita's chest and he sat and did not attack anymore then the owner showed up and took him away, if i didn't have it he probably would have teared my dog apart. The one bad side to a handheld taser is that you have to wait until it is in range, risking to be bitten as well.

NeptuneReturnz - a different channel talks about this and why it happens. When dogs meet other dogs the owners tend to tighten the leash instead of having them greet each other with a proper walking loose leash. The signal to other dog is aggression, if I understood the video correctly, and they in turn get ready for aggression.
      Interesting huh.

Casual, assertively friendly conversation with the other owner about the anything can make dog greetings go better. Feels overly familiar and impolite with a stranger, but if it keeps the dogs calm, great. If owner seems to be a dog newbie, I take over and verbally direct the dogs to sniff each other's butts "like good dogs." If a dog looks to be the boss of the owner from a distance I go the other way or get us both off the trail until they pass.

You will protect your poor defenceless dog without hesitation. Defenceless particularly when they are non-aggressive, loving and gentle. I used to walk my Lab and Daxie.x.Yorkie on the commonage until they were both attacked by aggressors. As you say, 'where were the owners? Why were the aggressors not on leads?' My 2 1/2 yr old golden has been attacked three times in our yard . Our neighbor dogs would come into our yard and he would want to protect his property and they came at him . Three separate occasions . The owners dealt with it pretty good. One of the neighbors actually put up a fence now. I still carry an air horn and alert spray in my own yard just in case. We live on a two acre plot. No leash laws in the country . You are right ... it happens so fast . The dogs are focused on each other and they don’t even hear me when I would try to stop the fight . I can’t run fast enough before one of them would get hurt . Too much property for them to run after each other . The air horn works pretty good . It does distract my golden and he comes running back to me . The test worked :). It’s hard not to panic .. no one wants to see their fur baby get hurt .

My dog was attacked by an off leash pit bull about three years ago. My little sister was walking my chihuahua mix around the neighborhood when a pit bull got loose from its yard. My little sister reacted instantly grabbing my dog, reaching her to the sky. However the pit bull jumped and grabbed ahold of my dogs hind leg, near her thigh. The owners came rushing out trying to get their dog to let go. Amongst all the chaos they were finally able to get the dog to let go. It ran off afterwards. Thankfully the owners were very cooperative and agreed to pay for her surgery etc. my dog made a full recovery but I can’t imagine what my little sister experienced that day.

I was walking my Big aggressive dog I took in from the streets one day and mine was on a leash. Another aggressive dog ran out barking at us, more towards my dog instead of me, his hackles were up, he was showing his teeth, being in total aggressive attack mode. I sternly, without yelling , said, stop! And I myself stopped with my dog. The other dog come walking slowly behind me, me making no eye contact and realizing he we trying to sneak up from behind... I turned half way toward the aggressive dog and spoke again, sternly, you get back in your yard, Now! You don't want to try to attack him, he will oblige you! Go! My dog does not show signs of aggression at all, he just suddenly with no warning , no signs, just attracts if attcked so he was acting like nothing at all was wrong but trust me, he was aware. When I spoke to the dog without eye contact but met him by a half turn and a stern voice, he seemed confused and backed away, I took the opportunity to say again, go, get in your yard! He did! So I stopped a fight right there. Later the dog we encountered attacked another dog and hurt it badly, the owner knew how this dog was but still allowed him to run free. I no longer see the dog around because of the irresponsible owner letting him run free.

We spent hours in the ER and $1200 dollars later we are so thankful that the injury was to the back of neck . Our Shih Tzu versus Pit Bull not a good combination. We have a Pit Bull as well but the only danger from Daliah is being licked to death. It’s not the breed it’s the off leash dogs that are the problem. Ok, point ONE is to kick the aggressive dog off your dog. That’s the only thing that worked, everything else your just assuming. Aggressive dogs are different, some go for the kill - while others just show dominance. But the truth is in to get the dog off your dog, then do what’s necessary to keep the dog off your dog, and to get your dog to medical care. To protect your dog many use pepper spray or shock rods. Lime cattle prods, both work great.

So glad Tula is ok. Pippi is adorably hopeless as a fierce aggressor!
I know it isnt preferable to get bitten while protecting one's dog, but I would choose that over letting my dog die. My 7 lb morkie was attacked by an offleash pitbull a year ago. The only way to save her was to give the dog a new target, me. I didnt even think, just attacked it, shoved my right forearm into its jaws all the way back, hard, and with left arm put it in headlock, which both immobilized it and really startled it. Owner removed his dog quickly. An excellent vet and a painful amount of money saved my little girl, who had a broken rib and punctured thoracic cavity. I have a few scars on my arm just from the pressure-- was lucky to have been wearing a sturdy jacket that day. Not sure this is the preferred procedure, but it was effective and prevented the dog from biting me anywhere else or getting another shot at my dog ( who has serious ptsd now and wont go near any other dogs ever).

I'm not sure if this would help anyone or not, but this is a story:
So today, (21st Nov 2021) I was walking my dog and there was this male pittie, which had a collar, was clearly owned by someone. And was inside this vertical metal bar fence. On the bottom, which was about a 1 ft tall, I thought the dog would not be able to slide under. All of a sudden this black pittie just slid under the fence like it was nothing and started dashing to my dog, who was with me. My dog, being the naive puppy she is, was just staring a whining to play with him. However this dog just wanted dominance and started attacking my dog... Although she was taller than him, she was much much afraid of him right after a couple bites.. My legs shaking, I try to scoop my dog up (She's a plott houbd) But this dog just keeps rushing her. I then suceed in picking her up. Abd that dog then stood down, after having a glance at -Nala, my dog- Because i was hilding her in the air and she was about 4 ft into the air. The dog retreated bacn to his home. And the owner was actually so sweet. She apologised to me, and my dog. But if my dog had been a small breed, who knows what would happen? ----
My whole point: I made my dog look intimidating by adding a couple feet to her height by picking her up. My doggie doesn't tilt her head and wag her tail whenever I say the word 'Walk' now.. It's still a small price to pay though. I'd prefer that then look at her with scars.. 🚩No injuries were made between these dogs🚩

Poor Tula! I'm glad that she's ok. How awful. That happened to me once ; a husky tried to attack my Barkley ( a mellow older JRT) I scooped him up and felt like I had the power of a mama bear, trying to make growling sounds & screaming quite loudly at the husky - he seemed to feel my extreme anger and trotted off to his owner looking back a few times as if to say"whaaaa???! 😂seriously!! I guess acting like a crazy person can be effective at times , but yeah ... not good advice! I was so mad at the thought of that husky harming my little Barkley, that I would have actually fought him & felt like I could over power him( not... 🙄 I'm an old lady) Not advisable but that time it worked (oh..the owner of the Husky moved away that week out of fear of losing her huskey , as she'd been reported previously for allowing it to go after neighbor's small dogs & I had my phone handy to call 911 ...she also claimed that her intact aggressive husky was a service dog.. yeah right)

We have a German Shepherd, and believe it or not, she was attacked by a Retriever and another time by an Airedale Terrier. No real damage done. The owners of the first attack didn't even stop, and our girl ended up with an injury to her back paw, limping for ten days and an expensive vet visit. The second was a bite that just barely broke the skin, but the owner was mortified and gave us her address and phone number if our girl needed to go to the vets, which she didn't. We are very aware that our girl is a capable breed, and when she is with her sister the play can get a bit out of hand, scary at times. So all big capable dogs do have the potential to harm, and I'm very aware of that. It's about being responsible and a good loving owner and respectful of smaller fur babies. I'd die a thousand deaths if our girl harmed a smaller dog. So much more is expected of big dogs for obvious reasons.

    • @sixpackbinky
      @sixpackbinky 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Because they are aggressive, why, I don't k.ow. I raised a pup I found on the street, Never found his owner and was raised with my other little dogs, without warning he suddenly turned on them and almost killed my senior dog before my son could get him off from him. He was treated as well as the other dogs. I still think it has something to do with not being wired right in the brain in rare cases. My Chi lived years more he recently passed from chf but I had to separate my Big dog from him and the other ones because after that fight, he wanted to kill all of them. I still have my Big dog and he is still separated . It makes their lives harder and mine , very stressful, no room for any mistakes.

Is grabing them firmly by the collar and scruff if you're strong enough, asserting dominance a good strategy?

  • @sammysworld5485
    @sammysworld5485 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Oh how frightening! Glad Tula’s ok. I learned the choke off technique. This is mostly performed on vicious dogs that’s latched unto another dog & won’t release. Mainly pits... it’s basically grabbing the aggressors collar & choke him off. The act of blocking air & not being able to breathe will automatically release. If no collar can always use a leash or belt whichever is more accessible. Most aggressive dogs goes into high frenzy gear which is why they advised never hit a dog while in mid bite because it will just tighten the grip. The choke off is the most sensible. Fortunately I hadn’t experienced any dog attacks. I choose to avoid large parks where most dogs are off leash. Luckily my Dachshund usually senses aggressive dogs & barks excessively if they approach. I don’t know how he knows.

Not exactly a related question, but I desperately need your expert advice.
My Cockapoo went blind. They call it SARDS. I’m uncertain of the diagnosis. She’s had cloudy eyes for a while now. She ignored her doggie friend, a couple of times, like she did not see her, in December. Today I noticed that her eyes protrude a bit.
She’s ravenously hungry all the time. (It’s not Cushings)
Please advice us as to what should be done. She went from a happy, frolicky dog to a sad, depressed, frightened dog.
No vets (I’ve been to 3 vets and 2 Opthamologists) seem to know anything.
    Please respond.
    Thank you.

I've been able to avoid them till now by changing the side of the road or sticking with a group of people. Hopefully my pup will stay safe as these strays are known for biting alot of people, including my younger brother.
