I’d suggest a lighting focused dex/faith build. Probs would focus on ancient lightning strike and that type of stuff and using nagakiba, utchigata and bolt of gransax. I’ve seen this build a bunch but I’d love to see your take on it. Also a wing of Astel duel curved sword build (Ng+). I use a cold bandit curved sword and use a play style similar to the dragon warrior build where you build up attack power then release high damage nebula. Love the builds, instead of beating the game on my main builds I keep making new ones. Only just started beating the game.

This is probably my favourite weapon in the game. I really wish sleep was a bigger part of the game. Here's hoping that they add more in the DLC like they did with frost in Dark Souls 3
I'm hoping they left themselves room to grow on purpose! We have so little madness/rot/sleep compared to other status effects, hopefully the DLC will bring us more!
This is such a great and interesting build! I feel like NG+ builds by far allow for much more freedom and creativity when creating new builds and setups. A couple of humble suggestions for future builds: - A "duelant/noble" build featuring a heavy thrusting sword and a shield, ideally medium shield allowing to utilise both guard counters and parrying. - A Bloodhound Knight Quality cosplay build (single or dual-wielded BHF) - a Crucible Knight Str/Faith cosplay build utilising their incantations and weapons to the full extent. I'm doing a Crucible knight cosplay atm and I'm lvl 110. The weapon art on Seluria's Tree is very nice and I don't think it's necessary to do a NG+ build for such a cosplay :)
I wonder if he'll do a bhf build. It's awesome but i think there are more interesting curved gswords for build guides. Dont get me wrong bhf is very special, just boils down to maximizing ar (and grease) because you dont need any other stats really. 10 arc for bloodflame if you're fancy. People may need to know it has a second charged r2 for staggering. (Stone of gurranq fth13 is a ranged option.) With cosplay, theres no synergy with bh claws and fang like wakizashi and katana so you have to step and L1 bhf or twohand/switch. Which kinda defeats the purpose of bloodhound step imo. :/
Having played around with the dual St Trina setup, allow me to offer this; use just one, and use it in your off-hand. Reason being every L1 swing counts as two hits, even if it's animated as a simultaneous attack, and all too often I'd get that sleep status and it would immediately be canceled by the same attack. Having just the one St Trina in your off-hand will guarantee that St Trina will be the last hit of any L1 attack, so while the sleep build up will be slower, it will be much less likely that you cancel the sleep effect before you can capitalize on it. Food for thought, love these build videos!
As of patch 1.06 the Mists of Slumber ash of war no longer deactivates upon receiving an attack, that might have been a bug that was finally fixed. Dual wielding these might be the better way to go now.
If you don’t have the 2nd St Trina Sword yet, I like to pair this with a sword with the poison strike or mist ash of war. If you can proc the sleep and it last awhile on certain enemies like the Godskins, the ash of war will proc the poison and their hp will tick while they sleep. You can dispatch other enemies while they sleep and when they wake they have a good chunk of hp already gone. Works with scarlet rot too.
Right now I’m using the Sleep Sword in my first play through on a spell blade setup. Even if it isn’t the most optimized, I’m still having a lot of fun with it 😊
Light load got buffed in the last patch and it feels really good now. Having a light roll is almost like having a Quickstep as your dodge button because of the distance it covers, not to mention sprinting with light load is super fast. You can get out of the way of so many attacks that medium roll would get caught by, for example Malenia or Maliketh's fast triple swipes. I find tanking hits to be unviable because of the high damage in this game and so heavier armor is only really for poising through attacks if you're using a slow weapon or incantation setup.
@@bobthetitan4128 The sword is in the Fissure close to the Miquella cross. You need to follow Thiollier's questline to get the talisman (before using Messmer's kindling)
Great video. One weapon that could be of a great help for this build is: Regalia of Eochaid. Basicelly you dual-wielding St trina and Regalia and once you put your enemy to sleep, you screw it with Eochaid dancing blade. The two weapons complement nicely eachother imo: Regalia gives the DPS that St trina is lacking and St Trina is giving the control that Regalia needs. Plus they do both magical damage, so you can even put Magical buff through talisman and physical flask.
Always appreciate the pure level of detail you go into into making setups that I didn't think could work, work. Any thoughts on a thrusting/great thrusting sword build?
If you're going the medium route I'd say also equip sword of milos as the weapon art reduces enemies status resistance making it easier to apply status effects Also maybe misericorde

Funnily enough this was build I ended up using to complete my first ever run of Elden Ring when it first came out. I'd also use the Nightmaiden & Swordstress puppets for thematics.
You can actually use Night Maiden's Mist with this build to use on sleeping enemies. As far as I know, Night Maiden's Mist doesn't scale that well with sorcery scaling anyway and just does good damage as long as you meet the minimum requirements for it. Would definitely fit the theme.

Brilliant work, as always mate. Have you thought about a Hyper Hybrid build? I used 4 scavenger swords (flame art, poison, cold and lightening) (RKR + Cragblade) and 2x Blood Shamshir along with a mix of spells/incantations and it works quite well. Loads of fun.

Would LOVE to see a Fextra version of... THE BUBBLE BUILD! Envoy Horns, either end game 150 or NG+. Maybe optimized with a 2nd wpn option for holy resistant. Dragonscale Blade Build would be cool too. If Fextra is up to the challenge. Consumable only Build. Pots etc.
Oh hey, I've actually been using a very similar build already. Except I styled mine more as a rogue and piled on a bunch of other weapons to switch to like a bow. Only problem is sleep arrows are a little tricky to acquire
I’d love to see a build using the magma wyrm scaled sword, the great curved sword. It’s really strong and kind but kind of unwieldy. Leveled it early then went to blasphemous which was easier, but it’s a fun one I go back to for some bosses
I prefer off handing the ornamental straight sword and applying the soporific grease to it as necessary, but that’s because its ability really is useless unless paired with another straight sword. Works just fine because this build works on strength and dex quality first anyways. Also, is it possible to combine the rain of arrows ash of war with st Trina arrows? Or any exotic arrow for that matter. U find the ash of war itself standalone once u find the Sellia Art piece location.
I feel like there could be another path to take with sleep - one colossal weapon in the second right hand slot! You'd be definitely medium rolling, but the cerulean dagger talismans trigger twice, and maybe the damage output from a colossal crit is higher than consecutive swing talismans? One could swap out the consec talismans, one maybe for the other assassin's dagger, and one for the dagger talisman that boosts crits. Or maybe a rapier or misericorde would deal more damage? Anyway, that's an idea I need to try one day.
One of the things that i really want to see in this game is getting more distance with rolling the faster you get For example when you are so fast and sprinting you should make far much longer roll compare to when you are standing your ground and not moving In contrary i think when you are standing your ground and not moving you should have much better blocking and riposting For example when a player standing and not moving and holding his shield up he should be much firmer and enemies attacking him in this stance should consume much less stamina from the player and getting more stagger from attacking on his guard And you should have more parrying frames when you standing your ground and not moving compare to when you are moving I think this will make a lot of diversities and lots of strategic choices for the player

I'm at the start of the video so I don't know what it contains. But I'll say now, with the Dual St Trina's you should also use the spell (Forgot what it's called) that increases the speed both Sleep and Madness take to fill. Obviously you're going to lean towards the increased sleep build up though.

Slight correction. Trina’s requires 14 Intelligence. You later say the build requires no points added to Intelligence but that’s only if your starting class has that much.
Sleep is pretty niche and situational but is good to use on stuff like the godskin fights. There is a much better weapon choice though. Ripple crescent halberd. The halberd is a purely arcane scaling weapon, and if you're using statuses you should be an arcane build, since arcane stat increases status build up. The halberd doesn't have built in sleep, so you'll have to use grease. The halberd can be buffed and is the highest arcane scaling buffable weapon. It can be farmed super early. It's AOW hits three times, and with high arcane stat and sleep grease it procs sleep usually after a single use. You can spam the AOW during the grease buff and perma-sleep enemies. Dual wielding two halberds also gives a good moveset, good range and much higher dmg than St Trina's. St Trina's is a lot faster but the halberd makes up for it with higher raw dmg, sleep build up and range. Combine with raptors feathers and claw talisman (jumping light attack only hits twice but it's a good jumping move so might as well), Milly's prosthetic, rotten winged sword, since enemies weak to sleep won't be able to move, giving uninterrupted attacks. Last talisman slot is pretty free so any of the ones mentioned will do, and then that consecutive attack cracked tear. You can have the misericorde dagger in the second main hand slot, with dagger talisman as your 4th, with royal knight's resolve. Simply buff with two greases, open with an AOW, keep chaining to keep the sleep, and when the enemy has low hp, switch to misericorde, use royal knight's resolve and grab a big crit.
Dude! I'm excited to try this weapon out. I designed my character off of Sandman/Dream from the Sandman comic book/tv series. So a weapon that actually causes enemies to sleep, that fits right in hand. I am gonna make him a Prisoner bc in the show he is a Prisoner for the first few episodes. It feels fitting.
So, Bleed, Frostbite, Frenzy, Scarlet Rot, I think normal ass Posions, and even death blight all have some spells. Mind you some way better than others, but I hope we get a hand full of cool sleeping spells. Assuming they’d be decent with all the cool sleep consumables we could have cooler sleep builds.
Any build with a weapon with multiple status effects? Shred enemies by applying bleed and rot and poison and cold and sleep (yeah I realize you can't have all but as many as possible). Status god with a fast attacking weapon

I changed my STR to 40 and DEX to 55 (Millicent prothesis got it up to 60) and the sword now does 262 + 228 scaling damage instead of 262 + 214. If I use a Strength-knot tear it goes to 262 + 243
I'd love to see a high level ng+ build, like 80/80 str/dex with some kind of über powerful quality weapon that has good enough scaling to benefit from it. Otherwise, maybe even add 80 faith and use a weapon that scales off all three, plus incantations and the clawmark seal.
Once the enemy starts falling asleep don't spam attacks, wait for them to fall asleep completely and then go for a critical. This won't work on some bosses, but it's a good way to deal with a mob: lure them into a slumbering mists cloud and then just massacre them one by one in their sleep ☺️
@Cordel8a11 I’ve been running something similar but against bosses you can frostbite I use a cold beastmans curved sword in the off hand. Also get your strength to higher than 50 then faith to 50 then dex. Basically level what gives the best increase in attack rating. He goes over it in the curved sword video.
if st trinas sword was a curved sword it may be one of the actual best swords in the game for pve ngl outside bleed builds. I tried going sophoric grease with curved swords but I find that if you really want to focus on sleep you cant beat 200+ per jumping l1 or every double swing with the st trinas over i believe its 132 with the curved swords every jumping attack and not counting the lack of the ash of war which is incredibly handly when fighting sleep resistant bosses who might have 1600 sleep buildup requirement. Also about my attempt with the curved sword, One big issue is that after 60 seconds your already less effective sleep proc is gone. So now youre essentially just a normal curve sword build lol
@@michaelxie837 riposte is crit hit that you do when you break enemy's stance or parry them and you press R1. So backstab from behind, riposte from the front.

Sleep seems to be heavily associated to Miquella, so we probably will get some more sleep builds !

If you have the idea you could do it yourself. Backup your savefile online and go try out different builds

Since we are doing NG+ build, I’d love to see a gravity spellsword build with Radahn’s swords.
Radahns Gravity pull combos into Roiling Magma. Suppose that's something you could build on.

Since you don't have any buffs you could put golden vow on miscrocorde for a crit weapon and a way to buff yourself without having faith.
I think you can swap your off-hand weapon to the St. Trina’s Torch which can allow you to block and the fire breath attack builds up Sleep as well.
Good point. And it does fire damage, for when the situation warrants.

I prefer off handing the ornamental straight sword and applying the soporific grease to it as necessary, but that’s because its ability really is useless unless paired with another straight sword. Works just fine because this build works on strength and dex quality first anyways. Also, is it possible to combine the rain of arrows ash of war with st Trina arrows? Or any exotic arrow for that matter. U find the ash of war itself standalone once u find the Sellia Art piece location.
I feel like there could be another path to take with sleep - one colossal weapon in the second right hand slot! You'd be definitely medium rolling, but the cerulean dagger talismans trigger twice, and maybe the damage output from a colossal crit is higher than consecutive swing talismans? One could swap out the consec talismans, one maybe for the other assassin's dagger, and one for the dagger talisman that boosts crits. Or maybe a rapier or misericorde would deal more damage? Anyway, that's an idea I need to try one day.
One of the things that i really want to see in this game is getting more distance with rolling the faster you get
For example when you are so fast and sprinting you should make far much longer roll compare to when you are standing your ground and not moving
In contrary i think when you are standing your ground and not moving you should have much better blocking and riposting
For example when a player standing and not moving and holding his shield up he should be much firmer and enemies attacking him in this stance should consume much less stamina from the player and getting more stagger from attacking on his guard
And you should have more parrying frames when you standing your ground and not moving compare to when you are moving
I think this will make a lot of diversities and lots of strategic choices for the player

But I'll say now, with the Dual St Trina's you should also use the spell (Forgot what it's called) that increases the speed both Sleep and Madness take to fill. Obviously you're going to lean towards the increased sleep build up though.

Slight correction. Trina’s requires 14 Intelligence. You later say the build requires no points added to Intelligence but that’s only if your starting class has that much.
This is one of the builds of all time in pvp.
Sleep is pretty niche and situational but is good to use on stuff like the godskin fights. There is a much better weapon choice though.
Ripple crescent halberd.
The halberd is a purely arcane scaling weapon, and if you're using statuses you should be an arcane build, since arcane stat increases status build up. The halberd doesn't have built in sleep, so you'll have to use grease. The halberd can be buffed and is the highest arcane scaling buffable weapon. It can be farmed super early. It's AOW hits three times, and with high arcane stat and sleep grease it procs sleep usually after a single use. You can spam the AOW during the grease buff and perma-sleep enemies. Dual wielding two halberds also gives a good moveset, good range and much higher dmg than St Trina's. St Trina's is a lot faster but the halberd makes up for it with higher raw dmg, sleep build up and range.
Combine with raptors feathers and claw talisman (jumping light attack only hits twice but it's a good jumping move so might as well), Milly's prosthetic, rotten winged sword, since enemies weak to sleep won't be able to move, giving uninterrupted attacks. Last talisman slot is pretty free so any of the ones mentioned will do, and then that consecutive attack cracked tear.
You can have the misericorde dagger in the second main hand slot, with dagger talisman as your 4th, with royal knight's resolve.
Simply buff with two greases, open with an AOW, keep chaining to keep the sleep, and when the enemy has low hp, switch to misericorde, use royal knight's resolve and grab a big crit.
I mean you may as well slap on a Misericorde with Royal Knight's Resolve at this point, literally just 2 more weight for some giga critical attacks
Dude! I'm excited to try this weapon out. I designed my character off of Sandman/Dream from the Sandman comic book/tv series. So a weapon that actually causes enemies to sleep, that fits right in hand. I am gonna make him a Prisoner bc in the show he is a Prisoner for the first few episodes. It feels fitting.
These videos are insanely cool, I loved watching Skyrim videos like this many years ago, ones that used specific things to make cool thematic builds.

So, Bleed, Frostbite, Frenzy, Scarlet Rot, I think normal ass Posions, and even death blight all have some spells. Mind you some way better than others, but I hope we get a hand full of cool sleeping spells. Assuming they’d be decent with all the cool sleep consumables we could have cooler sleep builds.
Would love to see what you choose on NG+7 when you have anything and everything at your fingertips to utilizem at lvl 713. :)
As side weapons, you can carry two cold straight swords for sleep inmune enemyes or players w alot of focus
Any build with a weapon with multiple status effects? Shred enemies by applying bleed and rot and poison and cold and sleep (yeah I realize you can't have all but as many as possible). Status god with a fast attacking weapon

I changed my STR to 40 and DEX to 55 (Millicent prothesis got it up to 60) and the sword now does 262 + 228 scaling damage instead of 262 + 214. If I use a Strength-knot tear it goes to 262 + 243

I’m hoping that they rework sleep in the DLC because right now there aren’t many bosses or enemies that really do anything to sleep
I'd love to see a high level ng+ build, like 80/80 str/dex with some kind of über powerful quality weapon that has good enough scaling to benefit from it. Otherwise, maybe even add 80 faith and use a weapon that scales off all three, plus incantations and the clawmark seal.
Once the enemy starts falling asleep don't spam attacks, wait for them to fall asleep completely and then go for a critical. This won't work on some bosses, but it's a good way to deal with a mob: lure them into a slumbering mists cloud and then just massacre them one by one in their sleep ☺️

I'm trying to do a double magma sword build with madness mixed in at level 150. Wouldn't mind help min maxing it, but i'm not too good at that bit.
@Cordel8a11 I’ve been running something similar but against bosses you can frostbite I use a cold beastmans curved sword in the off hand. Also get your strength to higher than 50 then faith to 50 then dex. Basically level what gives the best increase in attack rating. He goes over it in the curved sword video.

I know you did a single whip build but I would love to get your take on dual frost whips
if st trinas sword was a curved sword it may be one of the actual best swords in the game for pve ngl outside bleed builds. I tried going sophoric grease with curved swords but I find that if you really want to focus on sleep you cant beat 200+ per jumping l1 or every double swing with the st trinas over i believe its 132 with the curved swords every jumping attack and not counting the lack of the ash of war which is incredibly handly when fighting sleep resistant bosses who might have 1600 sleep buildup requirement.
Also about my attempt with the curved sword, One big issue is that after 60 seconds your already less effective sleep proc is gone. So now youre essentially just a normal curve sword build lol
If you put enemy to sleep, don't do backstab, but instead riposte, it deals more damage.

So backstab from behind, riposte from the front.
What appealed to me was that this sword seemed so unique to me. I used this sword to beat all the bosses in my first run after I discovered it lol.
