Keep the Nazi Eagle. It's part of history, don't let anyone destroy it. The Graf Spee can't exactly be lifted, even if it won't break - it would be insanely costly.
Let the Nazi Eagle of the Graf Spee be put in a museum, along with info, pictures and a small model of the pocket battleship. Either in Germany, or in Uruguay.
I loathe the destruction of historical relics, including that of the Nazis. Everything that can be preserved should be preserved.

There shouldn't be any issue with showing Nazi items with something near it explaining about the item. It's best to not hide historical things, no matter how horrible it might be. It's better to remember the bad things of history, then to forget them and allow history to repeat itself.

The captain of the "Admiral Graf Spee" didn't just "end up dying a few days after his capture..." He committed suicide. The Royal Navy didn't "destroy" the Graf Spee. It was badly damaged. The ship was forced to leave the harbor of Montevideo. But instead of facing the British Navy in a battle which the "Graf Spee" couldn't win because of its damages and the lack of ammunition, the captain ordered to sink the Admiral Graf Spee. Why did he commit suicide? He wanted to show that he wasn't afraid of dying going down in a "blaze of glory" with his ship in a battle against the Royal Navy but he didn't want to sacrifice his crew (about 1.000 men) in a senseless slaughter.
As far as I know NOBODY went down with the "Admiral Graf Spee".
By the way, many captains of the British merchant ships which the "Admiral Graf Spee" had captured went to funeral of Hans Langsdorff the captain of the "Admiral Graf Spee".

Over here in England finding bombs from WW2 is not uncommon, sometimes some very large ones due to the sheer amount which were dropped by the Nazis. We usually get two or three a year which the army do safe detonations on in fact a local metal detectorist found one on our local common a few years ago, we heard the army blow it up from my back garden.
Interesting fact about the so-called 'Bermuda Triangle', it's a very busy part of the world due to the sheer amount of ships and planes which travel through it however if you take the percentage of ships & planes which disappear and compare that to the rest of the world the disappearences are actually FEWER (based on percentage) in this triangle so it's actually SAFER there.

Where do you people get your facts from, and who is the one mangling many of the names in this video?
The Graf Spee was never attacked. The captain thought there was a much larger force waiting for him off the coast and took the ship into Montevedeo harbor where the crew was disembarked and the crew scuttled the ship right there in thr harbor. Its location was never a mystery. The local government forbade salvage until the law was counter maned, and the salvage company removed the eagle as part of their salvage efforts.

The pocket battleship "admiral graf spee" or refered to as just graf spee did not have a swaztica eagle on its bow, also the battleship that you have shown is a british king george V class battleship. It was scuttled in a bay in uruguay when it was located by the british cruisers, ajax and achilles. it had already sunk a handfull of british, dutch and french cargo ships and heavily damaged the exeter and ajax. The graf spee surrendered to the two british warships and was towed by tugboats to be scuttled safely.

The Graf Spee was not destroyed by British fighting sea vessels. It escaped to port of Montevideo and to effect repairs having taken significant damage during its engagement with them. As British ships were outside the port and more were on the way, the Captain of the Graf Spee decided to scuttle the Graf Spee to ensure no more of his crews lives were lost and so the ship did not suffer the ignominy of being destroyed by the “enemy”.

It really is such a tragedy that people can't appreciate history even if it's infamous. My family fled from Czechoslovakia during world war II because we were Jewish and I find all artifacts so interesting and it would not bother me at all to be on display. It's a history that must be known not forgotten. Seems to be the narrative though nowadays let's just take down statues and get rid of artifacts because it offends some people's feelings. It really is such a disservice and takes away from the importance of remembering history. That iron eagle is amazing and should be displayed. It's funny to me because a lot of the people who complain have nothing to do with the history that they have a problem with. You have white people 23-year-old privileged college kids protesting for black lives matter destroying businesses You have once again privileged white girls complaining about Confederate statues. Then you have non-Jewish people complaining about Nazi memorabilia. Stop being so sensitive It's really not doing anybody any favors.

The leader of that training flight was not very skilled and had recently transferred from a base on the other side of Florida or the Keys. He apparently forgot he wasn't flying in the old area and, becoming confused, claimed his compass and navigation equipment wasn't working. He then had them fly northeast to try to find land despite that condemning them all. Planes eventually ran out of fuel and ditched into the ocean.
Pretty crazy that rescuecraft went down as well though.

OMG, so many inaccuracies in this video - example - Market Garden failed in its most important objective: securing the bridge over the Rhine at Arnhem. The Germans slowed and then halted the armoured brigades advancing from the south before they reached the Rhine. The First Airborne Division was unable to secure the bridge and was withdrawn from the north side of the Rhine after suffering 8,000 dead, missing, and captured out of a complement of 12,000 men. Historians have been critical of the planning and execution of Operation Market Garden. Anthony Beevor said that Market Garden "was a bad plan right from the start and right from the top."[11]

The German military of WW2 were very neurotic about rules and regulations. The chances of actually carrying a “ modified” firearm with any kind of eagle would be a punishable offense if discovered.
Don’t you know that EVERY G.I. Brought back a Luger P-38 from a dead german officer. In FACT , 99% of bring back firearms were bought $$ from a G.I. that managed to broker souvenirs. If I am correct, my dead German officer Uncle told me that guns with 1/2 empty magazines cost around $200 back then.
