There is mysogyny but Alicent is not a targaryen she is a hightower. Why should a hightower rule as regent when there is a targaryen prince who has come of age? Both Aemond and Helena are targaryens who have come of age. They have a stronger claim to rule over Alicent.
Definitely a misogynist world but they all unfortunately have a point. 1. In an army full of battle hungry men you can’t expect for them to follow a woman after raising their swords for a king 2. Larys was valid too. After denying Rhaenyra the crown, you can’t have Alicent run things because you look hypocritical and look like you all don’t have a plan 3. Cole is right too you would ideally want the next heir to rule as is the custom (the other reason they used for why they stopped Rhaneyra) PLUS someone who actually can ride a dragon in addition to being the one who killed the biggest dragon on the enemy side. Its all unfortunate that it stems from her being a woman but it also has to do with her not being a Targaryen as well. She would be looked upon as weak in comparison to Rhaneyra who is of dragon blood.
