    I have to say that every Rewind Electric pickup I've ever played I absolutely fell in love with. These aren't close to the sound of vintage pickups. They ARE the sound of vintage pickups.
    They are expensive, but I swear you won't care after you play them. And it takes forever to get them. I waited 6 months for every pickup set that I ordered. That being said, I think I'm going to reach out to James next week about some strat pickups.

      Thank you, Steven. You certainly got the long end of the wait times, it sounds like, as some folks have, unfortunately. I do apologize for that. It's a problem I'm working on as much as I can, without raising prices or outsourcing. I appreciate your continued support!

      @@ReWindElectricOld Man, don't sweat. You produce some fine transducers. It might have bothered me on occasion, but the end result more than makes up for it. Keep doing it right... that's the main thing.

    I think i will be sticking with Fralin's Pure P.A.F for $320 a set! Rewinds price of $650 a set for a standard P.A.F clone is too rich for my blood. Fralin's pickups are super Clear ,Harmonically rich and very Dynamic and that is all i ask and need from a Humbucker.

      My tech at Glasers in Nashville said the Fralins are some of his very favorite P.A.F.s 650$ a set seems like highway robbery to me, but a sucker is born every minute according to P.T. Barnum.

      @@ReWindElectricOld James I actually do think your pu's are top notch. I have owned a few sets of them. I had a set of Creme brulee's and a Custom wound P.A.F set you made for a customer that i bought used. This was several years back now and regrettably i no longer have them. I am still kicking myself for selling them but i needed money. TBH my finances hold me back from a lot of great gear. I apologize if my wording in my original comment came off
      negative as it was not meant to be that way.
      If i had the money i would absolutely have a set or two of ReWind's again.

    Hey Marc! Love the show and I am a big fan! The Marshall Vintage Modern is often compared to regular plexis but it is its own beast, its closer to the JTM45/100. The 100w version with the original 425A or B cab sounds absolutely massive. Probably it sounds best low- to mid- gain. People sometimes play it for harder styles but for that its too loose and fuzzy. For blues it kills the JVM. The Mr Big reunion live at Budokan 2009 it can be heard under Paul Gilberts fingers. The 50w version is cool too but the 100w is broader and bigger sounding. Also does clean very well. Maybe its sort of a Dirty Shirley kinda, but a different and unique voicing. Great work with the channel guys! 🤟

    If there is someone so crazy to pay that shitload amount of money for a couple of pickups, then he is right...

  • @bryanwilliams3665
    @bryanwilliams3665 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I see a bit of commentary about pricing.Theyre not the most expensive out there by any stretch.
    Further, one isn't paying so much for the materials, but rather for the specialised knowledge much like one pays an accountant or lawyer.The thousands of hours of research has to be recouped somehow.. Every product in the world has ' research and development ' factored into the price. They're actually "inexpensive" compared to say an iPhone built cost/retail price.
    I sell pickups too but are here to endorse James products to be amoung the best out there .

    since you touched on Transformers, that's an interesting topic that would deserve an entire episode with someone who is an expert on that. Not only guitar related, but also regarding Di-Boxes, and Consoles/Preamps (like Neves etc). I also wonder why transformer saturation is rarely used as a tool in pedal-form .

    • @ReWindElectricOld
      @ReWindElectricOld ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nothing awkward, my man. I set my own prices. Why would I be awkward about them? I'm quite comfortable with my price and have no interest in price-competing with anyone else or pressuring anyone into buying anything from me. My products and service are not for everyone, and that's absolutely fine with me. I recommend other options to folks, regularly. No shortage of gear and services in all price ranges out there.

    I have reached what to me is the end of the rabbit hole...I have played clubs for most of my life and realized..tubes, pickups, amps and pedals are a deep deep rabbit hole..and somebody is always doing something newer and better but it is really redoing the same thing over and over,,,,,I have a JS 410 Marshall I bought it before a Friend Mark Andrew's said he could have got me a deal on a coveted Friedman, by the way my choice would have been the Jake Lee model if it would have been price friendly, but I think not haha..anyway I have a set of Fishman Fluence Cllassics...a chorus and delay pedal..Stryman and NUX ..I use Svetlana's because My Marshall is very tube picky they just sound the best and trust me..I ran the tube rabbit hole......Dave is a Genius ....his amps have tone..I love and play all types of music I don't use alot of gain and rarley if ever use my exotic Boost pedal...keep up the excellent work Dave making classic stuff better.

    Can you clarify your 7 year gauss measurement? They came to you not fully charged but close? How do you know what it was charged to when new? Also you said they were changing when measured every few days when you tested them, then they didn’t change much? We’re they changing constantly since new then magically stopped changing ?

    • @ReWindElectricOld
      @ReWindElectricOld ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. It would seem, that when a vintage Gibson AlNiCo bar magnet is first charged, it measures artificially high for a very brief period. Maybe a few days. Then it sits at a "settled saturation" level where it hardly changes at all after that unless dramatically disturbed by some strong external force. More force than just dropping a guitar or leaning it against a cab.

    • @Delmarevans
      @Delmarevans ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReWindElectricOld I was under the impression that you took magnets out of a 50 year old humbucker to monitor gauss changes, and they were still changing every few days you measured them, then they stopped changing.

    • @ReWindElectricOld
      @ReWindElectricOld ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Delmarevans Ya, sort of. Most magnets from the vintage instruments / pickups measured nearly the same when I first received them (37 to 75 years since first being charged) as they did only a week after I charged them to full saturation. So, the only SIGNIFICANT drop in charge happened almost right away. They are not just constantly leaking their magnetism like a tire with a hole in, it changing strength in any way meaningful to pickup sound over time.

    I have a vintage PAF not sure about the make or model, it’s sounds great. But it has two sets of output wires. One output is 8k the other rates at 16k. I. Using 16k at the moment. Two questions, any idea what make and model it might be and secondly, is it possible to connect both outputs to a mini toggle to toggle between outputs?
