The last 3 tires I have had patched at a tire shop on the inside, every one ended up having a belt break at some point. I think when they grind into the rubber to get a flat smooth surface to place the patch it creates a week point for the belts to fail.

I have a video idea for you. Can you use engine oil instead of coolant? This is a question that came up after a head gasket issue. The idea is, instead of fixing the small head gasket leak between the coolant and oil passages to just use the same fluid in both systems that will not cause problems when they mix. Maybe you could go as far as use diesel in the coolant, crankcase, fuel tank, power steering and braking system and have a single fluid you can use in the entire car....

  • @ecomotive6158

I once helped a guy in a parking lot who had a flat tire. It looked like someone had stabbed the sidewall with a knife. He had no spare but I had a tire plug kit and my air compressor with me. We agreed that the tire is ruined regardless and we might as well try a plug on the sidewall even though that's considered a big no-no. I plugged it and the tire inflated just fine with no leaks. He did a few spins around the parking lot and everything seemed perfect. Before he drove away he gave me a case of beer as a thank-you.
Another tire plug story: My father in law once bought a brand new truck and on the first day he had it he punctured a tire with a nail. We plugged it and it lasted the whole life of the tire. I've used dozens of them some going multiple years and I've never seen one fail.
