FYI the purpose of the “transom saver” on the outboard is to protect the weight of the outboard bouncing going down the road from tearing up your transom on the boat.
It’s called a “transom saver” it’s to prevent the motor from cracking the transom of the boat.

Yes you need the “transom saver” it’s not about the hydraulics failing, it’s about getting the wait off of the transom, especially when traveling and you hit small bumps all the weight on the transom bouncing will eventually break the transom!
That made me cringe again during this video, when they were trying to figure out what it was called, then followed it up with,” you don’t really even need one” good grief man. Good thing they have plenty of money to burn.
Not speaking from experience or anything but the big plastic jugs with metal cages around them that you joked were for "acid" are actually probably from nutrients (needed for growing weed hydroponically). That would probably explain all the extra buildings, storage containers, burner cars and water piping laying around LMAO

That transom saver is the single most important piece on that boat lol. If you don’t have one the motor will bounce if you are on a bumpy road or gravel and destroy your transom.

The way the fence is built inbetween the two storage shops and theyres a container i would bet someone used to sell used parts and or chop shop. Lol.
That bar for the lower unit to the trailer is used to save your transom as it bounces down the road. Over time you can get cracks in the transom if the motor isn't supported from bouncing.

That support is also used to support and save the tilt / trim on the motor on longer drives... the supports it comes with are great for shorter distances but for longer drives, they are worth their weight in gold....
The transom support it to keep the weight from bouncing and causing stress on the 4 bolts mounting the engine to the transom of the boat

It's a transom saver, most ideal for a fiberglass transom/hull, but still arguably neccessary for aluminum.

PARIC. The arm on there is called a transom saver it keeps your motor from bouncing up and down going down the road and cracking the transom , my family's boat didn't have one and the fiberglass transom cracked around the motor mounts

Hey googans! It's called a transom saver. When going down the road you motor would bounce up and down so much without that it will mess up your transom. Probably why I had to replace a rotted out transom on a 2003 Lund....

@ 4:26 - that rod is to take the pressure off the hydraulics, so that the system isn't holding the engine up - the rod does...

The transom saver on your boat keeps your transom from cracking while you are in transit. The motor is heavy and bounces on the road causing undo stress on the transom (the spot the motor bolts on )

The point of the transom saver is to put the weight of the motor on the trailer, not the transom of the boat. Hence the name transom saver. If you’re only driving short distances you really don’t need it but if you’re driving any long distances you should use it.
Yes you need that bar believe me I’ve ruined three motor cause the hydraulic has failed so yes use it

The transom saver isn't necessarily for the hydraulics itself. It keeps the motor from making stress fractures in the boats transom when it bounces. Fyi 😉

That pole from the trailer to the lower unit in the prop is called the transom saver. It’s so you don’t put extra stress on the transom while driving down the road

4:27 those actually protect the transom of your boat. It displaces the shock of driving down the road to your trailer. The other ones that go on the trim cylinder still put stress on the transom when it is bouncing around.
