      @@Romewise You're most welcome. This work you're doing is very important. It goes far beyond merely helping tourists. You're a cultural custodian, and Europe desperately needs cultural custodians today to stand up against today's reigning barbarism, just as it did when the holy St. Benedict did his critical work of cultural preservation after the collapse of the Roman Empire. Hence I dub thee St. Benedicta. 😉

I'm so grateful that there are people like you, who really enjoy the work I do. And this is what motivates me to keep doing it! Yet more treasures to see in Rome that we would miss, brought to us Elyssa. We are trying to see as many of these places you tell us about, we did visit Largo Argentina when we were in Rome last year on your suggestion and it was great. We just have to make more visits to see everything you recommend I especially want to see the Colossus of Constantine. We all hope you are feeling better

      Thank you, Peter! I'm glad you got to visit Largo Argentina - it's such an easy site to visit and doesn't take too much time, but I find it wonderful to be able to get so up close to these ancient monuments. I think you will enjoy the Colossus of Constantine and the Forma Urbis! I hope you'll let me know after you've seen them what you think! And thanks so much for your warm wishes for my health. This cold really wiped me out but thankfully, I am seeing the tail end of it! Thanks as always for all your support. 🙏☺

    I just got back from a week in Rome. Your videos really helped, especially the advice about buying tickets. 😊 I bought the 2-day "full experience" ticket that included the Colosseum w/Arena access, the Palatine Hill and the Forum + SUPER sites online at Coopculture for €24. Spreading my visits over 2 days was less overwhelming. I got a tour through the Vatican Museums for €40. BUY IN ADVANCE. My wait at the Colosseum was a few minutes and at Palatine Hill I was the only one because I was there maybe 10 minutes after it opened. Entering the Vatican Museums was fast as well.

    Thanks for sharing all this info! Actually, we bought tickets for a tour to the colosseum which includes the underground but I saw it can get cancelled depending on the weather. By any chance, do you know if they close it (the underground) just for a light rain or it has to be a very dense rain? I didn’t find much about this, thanks in advance and thanks for all the work you do sharing these things!

    Great video as always. You'd probably know more then anyone if the colosseum night tours have been canceled for May with the change in tickets etc. I pre booked attico through the site, and have a night tour for early May through Viator and Get Your Guide. wondering if they even exist or if they'll cancel a few days before. Any thoughts are apprecited, Cheers!

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Yes, I do know the answer to all this:
      First of all, Colosseum night tours are due to resume in June (sorry but you won't be able to go in May!)
      Second of all, CoopCulture will no longer be the official ticketing agent for the Colosseum as of April 30.
      For all tickets for the Colosseum and related parks, you’ll need to use the new official site:
      ticketing.colosseo.it/
      They seem to be experiencing some glitches as well as heavy traffic, so you will likely see a message that you are in a queue to view the page.
      Things are in a state of flux over there so I am giving them some time to settle down and will make a new video at that time.
      In the meantime, most people should have any easy time booking the Attico or Arena without too much difficulty. As always, the Underground tickets will be very difficult to come by due to a huge demand and low supply (space and safety issues.)
      I hope that helps!

    Hi Romewise! I have a question that I feel like you are uniquely skilled to answer. Is it a good idea to try and do the Forum/Palatine +SUPERSITES and the Capitoline Museum in the first part of a day. Lunch at the cafe in the Capitoline Museum somewhere in there. Then have some sort of break and do a night tour of the Colosseum? Or in your experience is that far too much?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching and I am happy to answer your question. Of course physically, this is doable. You could fit this all in if you were a turbo sightseer. But in my opinion, since you asked, yes, it's too much.
      A "quick" visit to the Roman forum / Palatine Hill could last about an hour if you breezed through and didn't stop at anything. But if you really want to visit it and see things, then you need about 3 hours. And if you want to see ANY of the SUPER sites, you need even more time, perhaps 4 hours or more.
      The Capitoline Museums are also not something I could ever breeze through. They are huge and I think it would take a first-time visitor at least 2 hours.
      So you COULD visit the Roman Forum / Palatine Hill from say 9am - 1 or 2pm. Have a lunch break and then visit the Capitoline Museums after lunch. Then you could do the Colosseum night visit. But this would still make for a really exhausting day.
      I would split these up and do the Capitoline Museums on a different day. Just my opinion!
