To some the unknown stuntman was the unsung hero of film & tv, but to me and my brother Berton & the wonderful talent he interviews are those 'unknown heroes'
Was one of the last buyers of the doc's DVD release on Amazon, and consider it one of my collection's pride-and-joys. An excellent, sprawling retrospective on one of the toughest yet most exciting gigs in filmmaking. The clips shared on his channel are a true treasure trove of film history.
As a CG guy who is getting little by little into practical effects, I think modelmaking will get a rather huge renaissance as a countermovement to the advent of AI. People just love the handmade aspects of it. Great interview and Berton Piece's contribution to the modelmaking community cannot be praised enough.
Berton Pierce is a *legend* for doing that documentary, and then making it all available available on the channel as well … Legend+ indeed - Thanks for doing this interview with him, and thanks for being legends as well carrying the miniature torch on this channel, great inspiration for people like me who grew up with this stuff but never had the knowledge, means and time to do anything about it before, but now is slowly starting to get into it now that the kid is out of the house ;)
Pierce Film Productions' _Sense of Scale_ inspired me to use miniatures for my future filmmaking! His TH-cam channel is wonderful! Excellent interview! InCamera is an inspiration, as well!
As a young (38) filmmaker, I have to tell you this is some of the single most important information to me! I can’t say yet but I’m developing something that will utilize these old techniques and have already established some old school model makers for this. Thanks for being a huge inspiration!
Wow first you interview Dennis Lowe who I talk to regularly and now you interview piercefilm productions of which I have watched every upload they have ever done. You guys have good taste!
A very interesting interview, in the film I'm currently shooting I also use miniature effects (and I to do as much in camera as possible) coroma key but no CGI.
Qwestion to Berton Pierce: what comercials did he do in Germany? (I archive old commercials from Germany on my TH-cam channel and maybe one of his is there)
I have a 00 scale British Model Railway and try to scratch build whatever I can. I was a Draughtsman and guess that was helpful. I would like to learn how to take photos of structures and scale them down so I can print tgem out. Looking forward to learning anything and everything 👍📐🖊

Awesome! Berton is a legend for documenting all these people! Great to hear him talk!
You guys are equally inspiring and your content is equally important. Your work hugely inspires us and many others….keep it coming! - JP
Thanks! Keep up your great miniature work.
Thanks for a fun and informative video.
7:40 The scale of that model of a chunk of a Star Destroyer's bridge is really eye-opening.

These documentaries were great. I loved all of them. I really was great hearing these model makers talk about their craft.
How does this channel only have 67,000 subs? Such a great channel!

Great interview! Can´t believe the pigs are in it! Thanks for this JP and Berton!
Those Budapest Hotel pigs are everywhere! ;)

it's that dearth of scale model work that's pushing me more and more into pursuing prop/set dressing gizmos building.
I enjoyed this a lot. I'm a big fan of Sense of Scale.
Loved every episode of sense of scale!
I've just seen the making of Slice of Life. Its a blade runner inspired short film using practical effects.
It would be nice to have a playlist so I can watch all the videos from the Documentary
The whole documentary has been uploaded to the sense of scale youtube channel, so the channel is basically one big playlist including extra’s :D

I posted some of them on my channel.
Does Japan still use models in their Godzilla films?
I don't think so. But some of the older FX guys must have fun stories about the Godzilla movies from the 80's etc.
