Beyonce brought me here. That woman's mind is fascinating. A musical genius. The fact that she saw Tia and was able to link what she was performing to this is amazing and so sweet to me.
She sounds amazing in this video! I almost like this more than the official video. I wonder what happened to the lead singer. She should’ve been a superstar easily.
That was adorable. Beyoncé's musicality knows no bounds. She sang it on the spot in the middle of the bridge of 1+1 and her guitarist was following right behind her
Everybody recognizes Tia and Tamera that goes without saying......but I also remember the lead singer Arike Rice. When she got older she was also with an R&B group named Before Dark that had a couple of hits. I also just read that she had a small part in Dreamgirls at the very beginning 👌🏾
Fall 1992. I had just started the 7th Grade. A lot of good things were happening then, and this song reminded me of them. KPRS 103.3 played this jam along with "Here We Go" by Portrait, "Weak" by SWV, and "Come and Talk To Me" by Jodeci. Like I said, good days of when music was music and blank cassettes were bought by the dozen.
1992 I just turned 21 and started clubbin in San Francisco. Fine guys in the club with their pagers, wearing cross colors and Timberlands...lol. DAMN those days were fun times. Who knew we were right on the brink of moving into the Internet age and the world would change forever.
Me too! Remember midnight storm??? Lol recording it on cassette??? I STILL got this on tape! Got it at Camelot records at Indian springs. Lmao going to arrowhead smh
I bought the cassette tape for my daughter Ashley Nicole, when me and her mother divorced years later Ashley made sure she took that cassette tape with her. These girls wh where so talented. Please listen to the whole album. Especially library card.
Actual arrangements.. Vocal Arrangement , key changes and a bridge.. Writers are and composers are lazy now a days.. And this a teenybopper song.. Music is supposed to soar.. they accomplished that on here
When I was in the 6th grade, my boy used to tease this girl by snatching the cassette single out of her radio and running every time she would play it while playing double dutch in the school yard. The girls always caught up to us and beat us with their jump ropes. 😂 30 years later the boy and girl got married and she had this song playing as she walked down the isle. 😂
@@conundrumstages The idea was to create a Girl Version of "The Boys" but the whole issue was that the Two original Singers Tressa Thomas and Constance Vaughn were fired before they finished recording a full demo due to their parents having a Dispute with the Manager. Tia and Tamera Morwy were all dismissed shortly after this single was released.
This group of young girls with Tia and Tamera sound amazing. The harmony and choreography are truly on point. The lead singer is great. This group could have gone further if picked up by Barry Gordy. They put me in mind of the Jackson Five. Young children's groups rocked in that era. Thanks Beyonce for giving them a shout out you all grow up successfully!
I had their album and absolutely LOVED them! I was in the 5th grade...and we ALL sang their songs! They were a BIG deal! I still KNOW ALL the lyrics to all 10 songs. This video brings back great memories!
Merry Christmas, I remember this song as well! This song just came across my mind. But, I didn't realize it was Tia' & Tamera until just now! Almost 30yrs. later. I was in middle school, go figure! 😁
Tamera being on the Masked Singer brought me here. I thought I was the ONLY one who remembered their singing group. I loved this song as an 8yo. Such cute girls.
My 9 year old daughter loves singing this now 😚😀😊 I miss these days when we were black unapologetically and seeing all the different shades and seeing talented young girls that reflected us. We wont ever see this again. Nostalgically pleasing! They my age group (I would have love to be in that group!) hope they all are doing well. My daughter loves yall know.
Young black girl here that loves looking at old stuff for the reason you stated. My mom always says of course there was segregation but people stuck together.
I had bought the cassette single of this joint and on the box, it had both Tia & Tamera Mowry printed on there along with LaToya McMoore and Monique Wilson. Awesome track.
So my cousin Seline asked for an SWV CD for Christmas and got Voices by accident from my aunt who didn’t know the difference. I hated the music back then but it was a soundtrack to our childhood. 😂
There’s a video of Destiny’s Child (then known as Girls Tyme) rehearsing this song. Matthew Knowles asked them “What is this song about?” Beyonce- “About a boy” 😂
Beyoncé litteraly started ad-libing the "Yeah, yeah, yeah" part in the middle of her 1+1 performance after blowing a kiss to Tia Mowry who was in the audience lol. Tia posted the moment with a capture on her Instagram
