Whats the point of npc's dissapearing. Only Annabella and Caterina should dissapear since they are one of the final bosses, but why did they remove everyone else

I keep hearing good things about Death's Gambit, so I may have to give that a shot. I remember Ghost 1.0 was good but I haven't played it in 6 years
