Thank you for posting this. I had to reattach my actuator as all of the screws had come loose and the tailgate would no longer lock. Your video let me know exactly how to get to the actuator & get the job done. Took less than 30min. Thanks.

Thank you so much for creating this video. It was super helpful watching this video while replacing the old actuator with a new one in the back door on my 2005 Honda CR-V. Cheers Mate!

Thanks for this video Harvey, worked a treat - There was a metal frame around the top of the actuator & I had to remove the door latch screws etc to get to this to undo, guess not all CRV's have this but I didn't bother replacing it, would have been too much hassle & I couldn't see the benefit apart from awkwardness! Cheers!

Please make sure to get door actuator that has 5 pin in it. Rear door actuator uses the same as the front right door. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Pls. like and subscribe.

Hi @Gil Vered, here's the product link c.lazada.com.ph/t/c.Yp34Vf ...the right passenger rear door actuator also works on the tailgate (mine has 5 pins). You need to modify a bit to make it fit right. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe. Be safe my friend.

Great tutorial! You had a bit of trouble with the tailgate panel. There is a tool that pops all the plasric clips that hold the panels on the doors and rail covers around the vehicle also. No need to take the door plastic covers off around the window at all. Just move the 2 sides over a little to avoid broken clips and wasted time. Both ways are good! I took my door panel off in 2 minutes with the tool. Thank you for an outstanding video! keep up the good wotk! You must love your CRV!

Thank you for your kindly reply! Another tip would be to add a tiny drop of contact cement to the small screws. Not because they need to stick to the screwdriver, but for the reason that the tiny screws have a tendency to literally disappear and they may ot be able to be found. I say this because I had 2 lock acuators go bad. One on the passenger side rear and the other was the tailgate. One screw on each door was missing. cause* rough roads most likely. The screws have no lock washers and they are macine screws. So use a tiny drop of contact cement and it will stay on and easy to remove as it never dries hard. Thanks again without your very fine video with a boroscope or whatever you used I could not see everything so clearly! Have a Happy and Healthy Year! Also there are 2 different kind of accuators or maybe 3. Japan made*, and the others such as US and other countries, and then other Sian types and possibly UK. The way to check which are for you is by removing the door panel and look to see if there is one or 2 plug harnesses to the actuator itself. No need to remove the actuator till it is time unless you have a problem with it opening or closing. Additional *tip* use real silicon gell for each of the actuator connectors lightly in the terminal ends and around the connector so it will not be hard or damaging when time to remove if need be to the connector itself. All my connections i use silicon gel no matter where on any electrical connections for prevntive maintanance and make waterproof/resistant. I give you these tips to help diagnose issues and to prevent wear and corosion. A CRV is a great car/SUV, but only if you kepp it healthy and safe, just like us! Thnaks again Handy Harvey. You are one of the very best!

If you need to remove the actuator you must not reinstall the door panel and lock the door from inside the door itself so you can lock it to feel safe as no one can get in till you fix it. You can reopen it by pusjing the lock mechanism plastic tab up or down.

Thanks for your guide. I've tested the new actuator and it can only unlock the door . When i pressed lock button from remote, the motor inside the actuator only making sound but not moving. Any ideas?

this is a link to the tool needed. Also look for better prices and a package deal that includes plastic special tools and also another clip removal tool for the push-button fastners that always break. ha ha Please do not wait til you nreak or damage something and these tools will be useful for many jobs on your CRV or and Honda. No need to thank me, thank yourself and find the best price online. Worh every bit of the money spent. best of luck!

You used a Chinese or Taiwan replacement actuator.. Good job becasue you saved a lot compared to Casa and in most cases the Chinese replacement parts are equal or better in some ways than a factory replacement. Some things are not, but most are good replacements. Also some items from Japan are actually made in other countires than Japan under strict design and management of the original Japan authorized. Just be careful when ordering and make sure that the seller has a very good rating before ordering.
