    I hear a lot of regret in the architect's language: "I wanted....but instead they..." Plus the commentary about design choices by the IDs that didn't follow the architect's brief, and the praises for the foreman for getting the concept say a lot. This is one of the biggest problems with architecture and design in Ghana: if the architect doesn't oversee the build, corners will be cut and alternative decisions will be made (and a lot of the time, they're not even cost-saving decisions - they're the result of a lack of skill, patience, and attention to detail in the effort to realize the original design). There are some great moments in the house (like the terrace and the main door), but the finishes are sub par for a house of this scale (like the paintwork in corners - check out the places where tile meets wall). The house looks really good from the outside and the nighttime views are magnificent, but the interiors are disappointing; furnishings, tile choices, lighting - not great. I hope the architect gets the opportunity to really see projects through right from the design stage to the point where the client moves in, I'm sure the results would be much better.

    This is a great house by a young architect. A lot of thought has gone into his vision, & there are some nice touches. It is also a great example that highlights just how much architecture & interior design is interlinked. One needs the other to create a seamless flow of spaces. When this is ignored or overlooked, unfortunately, it makes for a lack lustre final result. On this occasion, the interiors, have definitely let down the overall effect.

    He's an architect and he did an absolutely wonderful job on the design of the house. The views are amazing and how they did those tiles on the front patio on that slope is beyond me.
    The only thing I'd say is that the interior leaves a lot to be desired. There seems to be just hard lines, long net curtains won't do it. If the kitchen was designed with hard edges, then no one has come in to soften it, with different textures and furnishings.
    I can't fault the building though, it's beautiful and yes it's modern.

    • @theridechannel2117
      @theridechannel2117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There's a lot of potential there, but the presentation by the architect could have been more impactful by highlighting the client's initial brief and the influences and ideas and concepts and what he sought to achieve by the decisions he made.. hopefully, future presentations would take all of that into account. the interiors were less than minimalist and could have been authenticated through natural materials, texture, and perhaps more intriguing furniture. but nonetheless, it's a good project and the young man must be complimented.

    I know we think the interior design needs some improvement, but it takes a while to make the transition from a house to a home. Besides, it might be that the client has not settled on the interior design style yet. Though the house might look modern the client's design style might either be transitional, or traditional, or midcenturymodern or japandi or even scandinavian or a bit of 2-3 of these styles. That will take time for an interior designer to come up with something cohesive for the client. Also sourcing all furniture, and decorative accessories including artwork, lighting to scale takes time. I'm sure if Amoaa is able to go back sometime next year, there will be some improvements on the interior.

    For me, the design was just okay. I feel the outside is more captivating than the inside. There could also have been a better use of space on the inside. I don't understand why they would use "popcorn" walls in the washroom of such a sleek house. The little details really matter. The interior decor didn't exactly match the aesthetic of the home. I feel like they could have done so much more with the overall design of the inner space. He great architect!

    It's a huge house, so will definitely require multiple people to assist in the internal & external cleaning.
    Nonetheless, as i said prior, just formidable & the wonderful house design, the many awesome features, great lighting, the scenery, both indoor & outdoor, but specifically outdoor @ night, is just pure magic!

    Young Ghanaian Architects doing incredible things. Can you all come together and design a new concept for the city of Accra? Especially, the Okaishie district.

      @@ohenetwum3358 Our open drains is an eyesore. A simple plan for an ideal road with drains and sidewalks would be fantastic.
      Coconuts, Palm trees and tropical plants grow freely but our streets are not lined with these. We should have streets named after the trees planted along them - palm springs, orange grove, coconut Grove, lime street etc.
