I think so too. In Finland you can trust that you will not drop to poorness if you loose your job or get ill. Safety net is working well.

Weird that the video says here's housing crisis. Only the capital area and some other major cities has maybe but the rest of Finland really doesn't. There's lots of cheap places to live in Finland. You don't need to go further than like 50km away from Helsinki and you can buy a big house with the price of small flat in Helsinki and the rents aren't really comparable either.

Finnish constitution says that government is responsible for the wellbeing of its citizens. A lot of countries do, we just take that responsibility more seriously. And yes, trust is the key.

11:25 Sadly this is really easy one to answer: Corruption, both foreign and domestic
Finland is the least corrupted country in the World, so people don't mind paying taxes, since they know it will all come back to them and those in real need in vital services. Also that tax % is extremely misleading, we have a progressive tax system, and that is the maximum tax % you can reach if you are earning a ridiculous amounts of money. The less money you make, the smaller your tax % is, down all the way to a 0%
Also unlike what the video claims, Finland doesn't have a housing crisis at all and has no "free protection" from NATO, not sure where they are pulling those conclusions from. Finland has a massive draft based defensive army with over 1.1 million deep standing army+reserve and if anything, Finland is protecting the rest of Europe from a Russian invasion from the North
Also, Russia being a huge supplier of energy for Finland? that is the most ridiculous claim ever. Finland was almost fully self-sustained in energy production before the Ukrainian war, and was importing a very small amounts of energy from the Russia, and it took only half a year to reach 100%. I think they are looking at wow, Finland is importing 90% of its gas from Russia, yes, but (unlike UK for example) Finland doesn't really use gas for anything, so while it was 90% of gas, it was only a few percentage of the whole energy cake, which was easily covered by the completion of the World's most modern nuclear power plant that same year

Housing crisis, when it is usually talked about, is a lack of houses and building new non-luxury investment housing. This critical lack of housing is allowing renters and sellers to outprice houses to be almost completely unaffordable to more and more people.
This is a problem that Finland doesn't have almost anywhere outside of Helsinki, and frankly, in Helsinki it is as it should be. We should go back to encouraging decentralization away from areas where the old money rich own disproportionate amount of real estate
Pretty much everywhere else than Helsinki, Tampere and Rovaniemi (tourism boom) they are either at normal increase rates or even crashing due to decreasing population and the ongoing migration from country to cities
Finland has an amazing amount of affordable housing plans (completely inaccessible to the rich) with buy-in options for those, like people on welfare or students, who are not able to engage in the free market real estate investment game in the capital

Nice that someone made video about Finland and mentioned that how poor we were back in history. It would be nice that someone would really make a video about our rise from the basically poorest place of the Europe to the one of the richest in few decades. And have to say at those decades we fight 4 different conflicts, hole Lapland was burned town on country of 3,5 million people had to settle over 400000 refugees. And all this without any major recourses. There is no other success story that is possible to compare to this.

Yes, Finland has mosquitoes. Lots and lots of them, and they aren't small either. It depends heavily on the location, in the urban environment there aren't that much standing water where they can lay eggs but in the forest... at times it is simply unbearable.
But they aren't the only stingy things, we got blackflys (tiny, can crawl to the inside your clothes), horseflies (big, fast and painful, they bite a piece out of your flesh), deerflies (impossible to kill, also can crawl a LONG way)... In our old family farm, anything you do outside in July you have to be covered head to toe, and it is REALLY awful. At days it is horse and deerflies, at evenings it is mosquitoes and blackflys. It is between a swamp and a larger animal farm and there is quite a lot of game so it has ALL stinging and biting insects in Finland, also yellowjackets and ants.. That is one reason why no one wants to be there and it sits unused.

Bah. You know, you can always protect your skin with either clothing or some repelling sprays - or both - etc., don't you? 😉 And they (the mosquitoes and other little insects) don't kill you, if you're not very, very highly allergic.
On the other hand: we have almost none deadly poisonous insects or animals here in Finland (spiders, snakes, frogs, etc.) and that's a huuuge plus! 😉❤️ Only one poisonous snake, which could kill you, at least in theory, and then of course wasps etc. that can sometimes be deadly if you would happen to make a whole swarm of them very angry... 🫣😁

I am a Finn. I live in France, because my husband is French, well for now we stay here. I am liable for taxation partially in both countries. But because I am also ill and not just with tiny challenges about that - I haven't been able to work for years because of that - so as my income for that reason is minimal being retired - my personal taxation percentage in Finland is 0%. Yes, that is possible, if you got enough of a serious situation and clear enough reasons for that - all though idk if some of those of us Finns who would qualify for the change of their taxation rating are aware that it's possible.
Anyways, oh and by the way too - I do not get as much financial support from Finland as I would get if I lived there too. So basically my income is really the minimal of what a Finn can have, when in this kind of situation. And yet I pay taxes for what property I got in Finland (case personal taxation isn't same as for that home there, where we stay at in the vacations) while paying taxes for that tiny income here in France, all though it's too small from the French perspective too, for them to take anything notable anyhow. Most of the tings I like better about my native country, but my husband's kid from the previous relationship is still underage, so it's good to have daddy stay near by. Idea is to move into Finland one he becomes of age. Anyhow what I find better here is that medicines are tiny bit cheaper generally speaking. But that's very small difference. And quality of housing simply is, for one, better in Finland. They don't make warm enough houses down here south enough, even the newer buildings still lack on that front.
And talking about heating up with wood. My mother does that, but she had some health issues so she could not do that as usually for a month in the winter. And so it required heating the water and such with electricity for that time. The electric bill for the month was over 300€ - then she started to heat again with wood, as the house has furnace for that which is linked to floor heating, water heating and all that, the new electric bill for the month heated with wood was just 90€. In other words - people who think heating with wood is 'backwards' don't seem to know what kind of developments related systems in houses have leaped to, never mind realizing how much that reduces your expenses.

Hello there. We do have mosquitos here, but mostly in rural areas and not so much in urban areas. Also, our mosquitos dont transmit serious deceases such as malaria, dengue fever etc. The most annoying things about mosquitos are the sound and the itch after a mosquito bite. Btw, mosquitoes sting and don't bite. :)

In general, all of the Nordic countries are the same, we all show up on the top ten lists of happiness, work/life balance, life expectancy etc. There are minor differences, but in principle, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Finland are like one country. The only difference is that the Finns speaks a completely different language. It could be argued that Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish are actually accents of the same language, I don't really agree about that, but the languages are very closely related. Finnish is like IDK, Marsian?

During WW2 there was a saying among the finnish soldiers, "veljeä ei jätetä", roughly meaning no brother left behind. Well, less of a saying and more of a doctrine they firmly followed - some veterans have told that getting injured wasn't that scary because their comrades were always near. They call that TRUST and brotherhood the spirit of the winter war, and people speak about it to this day.
Yet another example of TRUST that the finnish people have displayed.

Finland isn't even that rich a country. Finland has been roughly half-way between Russia and United States on GDP per capita metric since at least year 1990 (couldn't find statistics that go longer into past). Finns have a basic trust in other people, and the police and state officials. That may be in in rare cases misplaced, but helps everyone feel safe. I've never felt unsafe in the dead of the night walking in Helsinki. The major factor in getting fairly economically comfortable was investing in education, even when we for a short time really couldn't afford it and had to borrow money.

Energy production data on the video is old (it's from 2021). When Russia did its thing and started being hostile, and made securing energy difficult, Finland reacted immediately. During 2023 energy production in Finland increased by 13%, and the country is self sufficient now. Only 2.2% of energy used in 2023 was imported, and Finland will *always* trade energy with Norway and Sweden, either buying or selling depending on weather. Meanwhile energy consumption in Finland has gone down 8.4% since 2021.
Energy sources are seeing a cleaner trend too. During 2023, energy production from wind went up 25%, nuclear went up 35%, hydroelectric went up 12.6%, and finally solar power went up 65%. Although solar power is still a minor energy source in total.
Increasing production in the forementioned sources, and lessening coal burning by 50% and peat burning by 35% made the percentage of clean energy in Finland in 2023 go up all the way to 94% (which is a huge 38% increase from just a year before, 2022).
Energy prices in Finland are back to "pre-Russian activities" levels.

Well there isn´t much choise becouse the last goverment too over 30 billion of more loan and shoveled all over the globe and left this trap to solve for new goverment... Before that Sipilä and Berner tried to sell everything we owned to elsewhere whit rediculose prices and before that Katainen and Urpilainen "made those idiotic "loans" to Greece... So if someone here trust that we get good things with out tax money doesn´t really know a sh*t.

The no city over 1 million is kinda artificial because the city of Helsinki is lilited by bordering city borders and their fusion was blocked by Espoo because it has higher average wealth, if Helsinki was united with Espoo and Vantaa it would be above a million. Also the equality thing is kinda bs, men are discriminated against legally, especially in the form of conscription, but also in other ways and especially young men are massively falling behind while equality offices and funding is dominated by feminist women
