What Made Assassin’s Creed Origins So Good?

- Assassin’s Creed Origins was a true nexus point for the genre, hosting the largest number of new features an open world game has ever had. It was the first time the genre leaned heavily into action RPG mechanics with its expanded skill trees, experience points, and upgrade system.
The combat was very flexible, allowing you to stealth through situations using your eagle to tag marks and objectives, or to go in guns blazing using your giant axe.
I loved the feel of the swings, dodges, and parries. Movement in general is intuitive and fluid, which leads to the exploration. Exploration was top notch in Origins. Seriously, the wildlife is the best it's ever been, with crocodiles, camels, unicorns, lions, and cats that you can pet and tame. Future games would force heavy grinding to get past certain enemies, but Origins hit the sweet spot of RPG balance. - เกม
Brings a tear to my eye seeing Origins get so much love
I've played it since Day 1 it helped me with Depression once. Ive been to Every nook and cranny on every map and I will not trade it for anything else. Most Immersive AC if you love Egypt.
Still playing origins in 2024. Loves the story and settings 😍
I just started playing AC Origins yesterday (until a hurricane knocked out the power). I'm stuck in the tunnels at the start of the game after getting all turned around and doubling back. Power's back, but now work beckons. I hope to give this game some serious time this weekend.
Hope your enjoying! I remember my first time I played it and what a time!
Robust gameplay, beautiful graphics, and a well told tale of a protagonist you truly root for ❤️
Playing through this on PS5 now. It's amazing how many quests have voice acting. The game mechanics are very diverse as well. So many tools to take down enemies. Also love the real historical information found throughout the game.
Origin is so good because it is still grounded with the balance of mysticism and technology of the Isu. The game is also big yet focused on its theme and content. The story is built upon the foundation of "tragedy of children". The mechanics are still realistic to the story(having both direct approach and stealth because Bayek is not a full pledge Assassin)
Full fledged* assassin
Just finished this for the first time. Great all rounder and couldn’t wait to get back into it when I got home. On to Odyssey now.
Tried Odyssey last night again didn’t feel as magical as Origins and the voice acting was cringey
Which do you prefer so far?
honestly if you liked origins im not sure you'll enjoy odyssey for reasons that made origins suffer but the fighting was improved
I liked odyssey a lot more
I loved Origins and Odyssey at the time. Played through Origins 3 times, couldnt face another 260 hours on Odyssey again. Started playing AC3 for the first time as i skipped to Black Flag…. If they did todays world(graphics/gameplay) with the combat from the originals id be so happy.
I have so much memories with Origins & Odyssey
I love 2017 & 2018 ❤
NOW all of a sudden it's so good. When it was out, everyone was giving it shit🙄
It's the same with all games. 5 years later they'll say Odyssey was good..
@@BarrettKillz pray they dont say that XD
@@josephxowen 😂😅
I’m pretty sure they didn’t give it a good review either. Lol
@@josephxowenodyssey was not even bad, I’ve play most AC (90%) and to me Origins was a copy of odyssey, even the big temples in origins have the same silhouette that odyssey had, almost everything was just put a skin on top except for the streets layout. Even boss battles was better in odyssey.
This was the first AC game i ever played, it sent me on a AC rabbit hole. Now i have played and beat the all.
So what's your top 3 Ac games now?
Same happened with me 👍👍
This is where AC peaked.
I absolutely adore the pre RPG AC games from AC1 to Unity but while Origins was different, it still managed to capture the assassin fantasy and was overall a good game.
I couldn't agree more, I loved all 60 hours I dumped in the main campaign and another 12-15 into the DLC...I've skipped every AC since this one since they were literally copy and paste res-skins of AC Origins in different settings...but shadows looks fantastic and I hope Ubisoft can make it another great one!
P.S. Don't worry guys/gals I won't be pre-ordering no matter how good AC shadows looks lol
Origins was a stepping stone, for what Odyssey & Valhalla turned out to be. I hope Shadows will be as good as Odyssey, which I consider it to be the best AC, from the entire franchise!
the best by million times in the rpg trilogy
Damn right
It was barely a RPG. Odyssey destroyed it in every way.
@@EpicConspiracyodyssey is trash and thi is a fact you can't argue
@@user-gn4vu8lb7r the combat in origins feels so bad tho
@@RumblesBettr still its better than Valhalla and Mirage
Best main character and setting in the series for me, it outranks AC2 and even Black Flag for me personally.
Just a heart felt masterpiece, so much to do and discover around ancient Egypt, still playing with great amazement.
Started playing again about a week ago randomly - feels so fresh forgotten everything and I’m hooked again haven’t played since PS4
It’s had updates for PS5 and looks so good, so much attention to detail in this game so much better than Valhalla & Odyssey IMO
finally these games are getting the love they deserve … I was in love with this game and also Odessey plus Valhalla.
These short games kinda drain me out quick.
thanks Gaming Bolt.
I played Origins at launch and literally went "WTF is this!? This isn't Assassin's Creed"
Came back 3 or so years later and holy shit what a gem of a game.
This game is for me, simply one of the best if not the best of the last 20 years.
My favorite creed. I still need to finish the dlc. But it's beautiful, plays great, has a good story, and a fantastic protagonist. No enemy leveling and bloat that killed the 2 sequels that followed.
Never beat this game after owning it for 5 years. Went back to it 2 months ago and I'm addicted. The dlc is good too
I bought a digital deluxe edition of this game. I am also so addicted to origins ❤
Bayek was such a fun protagonist. Without Bayek I probably wouldn't have loved the game
My favorite modern AC. Bayek is my 2nd fave Assassin Creed character. I also love ancient Egypt.
one of my favorite Assassin’s Creed 🥰
THE SETTING
This is my favorite ac game. I like almost everything about, especially the setting
I think what makes Ubisoft so frustrating is that they have the ability to make an Origins/Chaos Theory/AC2 /Beyond Good and Evil/Rayman/Prince of Persia etc. but their greed stifles creativity and care for the vast majority of games they release
I agree completely and in my opinion Far Cry 5 and Watchdogs 2 were also really good games. I'm looking forward to Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws
@@austin21x Ubi is indeed a great company if they aren't greed
I just got back to this game after seeing a memory from 2018, man I'm so sad I can't play it as much I did 🥲 we grew up man, I miss the gaming days
All assassins creed games are both awesome personally 🎉
By far my favorite of the new era games. It was the unique location and underlying sense of mystery that did it for me. And it was finishable!
Easily one of the best in the series
Good story & great Map but not only that the selection of gameplay.
If I buy this game, will I actually play it or stop a quarter of the way through like I did with every AC game I've played post black flag? I'm still stuck with last gen hardware because I'm broke. I've played just about every game and I've run out of stuff. Would ya'll recommend it? Lemme know.
The rigid leveling system and grind is what kills the fun in this and Odyssey. If you can get Origins dirt cheap it could be worth trying though
Is in sale alot so i would say then yes. And honestly don't feel to bad. I have a ps5 and legit i feel i should've stuck with my ps4 since most games i played still released on it.
I stopped an hour in. 🫤 got it on sale. Might have to give it at least 2-3 more hours…
@@bizmonkey007 Honestly, if you just go exploring a bit you never really have to grind for much. At least I never had the feeling I needed to.
Its really one of the best AC for me personally. i recommend it give it a try.
AC I-III and Origins are the only AC games i go back to. everything outside of those i play once and never touch again
I remember it getting destroyed.
Top 5 game of all time.
AC Origins/2, GTA San Andreas/5, Witcher 3, Zelda BOTW/OoT, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. My top 5 😅 in no particular order.
Origins was probably the last AC game I full enjoyed. The story, the characters, all the quests, the exploration. Odyssey was ok but Valhalla just got boring for me
Actually is the last good Ac game bro, thats why im re-playing the old ones
I played it in 2017 , and now my son plays it in 2024
(sigh) my fav out of the newer assassins creed games
I thought it got old quick, like the rest of the games
I miss this game
Rogue had Hypocrite Shay
Unity had Assassimp Arno
Syndicate had the Fried Twins of Jokob and Evie Frye
Odyssey had Lamelexios and Trashandra
the story...
Odyssey was in another galaxy better. Origins was a good start to the new direction. 7/10
Yeah...played ODYSSEY 3000 hours...
Yeah...played ODYSSEY 3000 hours...
The best ac for me
The story made this so good
Cause it was all about Assassinations, kind what AC was. With an amazing setting a great character and an emotional story from the start. After that all went to shiett from Odyssey to Valhalla, and the new one that's coming out seems will suffer the same fate.
Legendary video game 😢
I know a lot of people didn't like the game but Origins was spectacular for me. It's one of the best games I've ever played and absolutely stunning like when you finish the prologue and you go to the city and see the title... gorgeous!
The game was really stunning even all the little secrets you could find made me feel like I was really in Egypt there has been games about that part of history to me it was one of the most unique games because the setting is not always in games . To me it was the best of the newer assassins creed
Same reason why Miles Morales is the best Spider-Man game.
1) fantastic, unique sandbox design
2) perfect campaign length
3) very little bloat
4 Great cast of characters
I freakin' LOVE this game!!!!!
Wait this was a good one?
The combat is absolutely terrible compared to odyssey. Beautiful world tho
But still better than Valhalla and mirage
My favorite part were the microtransactions. Seeing cool gear that I had to spend real life money on instead of finding it in the game world.
You can find all gear in-game lol
This and black flag. My favorits
Being slightly better than most games in a series known for being utter dogshit for 13 years doesn't make it "so good"...
Was it good though?
It is indeed.
No doubt.
I haven’t ever played this but I bought it on sale on steam and I went to play it one time and didn’t stick to it. Is it really that good? I loved odyssey but didn’t like Valhalla much. Those are only 2 AC games I’ve ever played
1. Story
2. Cinematic cut scenes
3. Soundtrack
These are the things that made ac origins so good, or we can also say story was the best part of origins.
U mean Origins
@@samuelesquivel6202 oh yes, sorry.
Sorry but i played almost all AC games, this one and odyssey... not my cup of tea
Camel Is good
Yeah...played ORIGINS 1200 hours and ODYSSEY 4500 hours...how about you?
It was decent and simply needed a proper stealth system (which has never been in any AC game, but seems to be implemented in AC Shadows now, which generally look good.. so we'll see), but unfortunately they didn't improve on the format with Odyssey or Valhalla. Odyssey was still good, but Valhalla went downhill and Mirage was just pure garbage.
I’ve never heard anyone call Mirage worse than above average so I’m genuinely asking what did you find wrong with it that gave such an extreme stance on it?
@@BlackKnight94Smalls94 Wtf do you mean... everyone hates the game, what kind of weird community do you belong in...
The game is poorly made, the combat is literally one of the worst in any video game ever... it is pure garbage.
Mirage had its flaws, but it is really far from garbage. I personally would set it at the same spot in a list besides ac3. And (at least for me) way above Odyssey.
@@7i4nf4n If you think Mirage and AC3 is better than odyssey, there is something wrong with you. Straight up.
And Mirage is garbage.
@@Somtric I just didn't like odyssey. It was way too big and long, and for that too empty. A stealth kill isn't a kill anymore, just a stealth attack. Greek history is more often than not taken as a ground for modern, often cringy jokes. And it feels like artificially stretched to reach 150hrs as a game.
Maybe you view it differently, but for me AC Odyssey wasn't good, as much as I wanted it to be.
Nothing
Good? Beginning of the end for AC. Grinding, weapon levels and enemy levels. Terrible game...
8 minute video: what made Origins such a good game.
"Next video"
Why origins failed... 4 hours amd 38 minutes!
lead game designer cheating his wife...
What and the hell does that have to do with the game?
@@TheABElia he was happy and was more passionate every day, the results were incredible
Why did they turn this franchise into a generic RPG series
Tjis game is 50x better than elden ring.
Is it? I love Elden Ring but am open to playing this. I actually already pitched it but am thinking it’s next in my back catalogue. Lol
Odyssey was better - by far.
7th
first and this is truly a great game
It was ok at best. If anything this is what changed ac and made it into the mediocre rpg that it is now
It was really good*
@@a2raya772 idk maybe my biased is swayed by what came after, but i never really enjoyed the rpg shift. It felt like a totally different game especially the leveling system
It was one of the great.
@@kevinsmoon3257 Same, found it a pretty mediocre game.
@@TDamsma yeah like i said this is basically what shifted the entire assassins creed franchise into the weird rpg games they are now
Just finished this game last week. It was alright nothing spectacular. The open world was great though. Would give it a 7
Assassin's Creed Odyssey was even better that Origin.
It was meh…just like Mirage was supposed to return AC to its roots.
Yeah
Since it came out I've heard nothing but mediocre reviews and glitchy performance never have I heard the words.....
"So good"?
Are y'all trying to pre-hype nostalgia?
I agree. I enjoyed it for a bit but I remember it getting destroyed in social media
Its just you. You're probably bad. Game is easily one of the best in series. Literally had no issues with bugs or issues. Game was fine..
From where you heard those mediocre reviews? I just want to know. It got amazing reviews in IGN, Criticscore, Metacritic and considered as one of the best.
Everyone loved it cus it was great and at that point this was exactly wht people were asking to ubi.
@@a2raya772 you know im bad, im bad come on now sham on.
Lol

Mediocre at best.

It was shit
Fck no

I hated this game. AC should never be an rpg.
IKR
Nothing, it was super lame.
Back too fortnite kid😂😂😂😂
🧢
The game that ruined the franchise
Not really.
naaahhh.
Everyone asked for it oke everyone asked ubi to change the formula of AC games after syndicate. If they didn't changed everyone would've said like oh this is the same game every time so they changed it. People like u don't know what happened back then that's why u r simply saying like this, this was exactly what people wanted and needed at that point so stop blabbering.
@@arthurmorgan7026 I played Assassin's Creed starting with Altair's in 2007. I don't know what you're talking about.
@@arthurmorgan7026 and assassin's creed is one of my favorite games but I don't like some changes they have made
Nah, the story was meh. It was good game but very repetitive and boring, and the main character Bayek was an simp. They should make world like mirrage. It’s more than enough. Mirrage story is meh as well but doable and combat is ass. Basim was more interesting and more serious than Bayek in my opinion.
How much do you bench?
Arno was the simp of the franchise, not Bayek
I don’t see enough Vikings in origins, what happened with diversity, we have black samurai but no Viking medjay?
