    The demo is short and sweet. Thank you.
    Another demo showing a car at the back would make this perfect, after all a bumper is different from a kerb.

    i see why you have so many hits its because you actually explain all the details with the lines and the camera. None of the other vids do that, thanks jeff. now i know, my last car was a 95 prelude with no cam lol. 2019 lexus is350f. go toyota/ lexus!!

    Thank you!!! I just bought a new Lexus and this is my first time having a camera in my car and I was so confused about those lines. I just had to park the old fashion way looking backwards as if I didn’t have a camera in my car. Lol

    That is actually very helpful. Thanks Jeff.
    I am sooo Old Fashion on backing up and never 'Trusted' the cameras.
    I personally unclip my belt and turn with my hand behind the seat and use my eyes to back up.
    Mirrors are useful and can be done with precision if you know what you are doing.
    Especially with a trailer. Mirrors are necessary.
    This little video would be very helpful for my wife that rarely backs up and NEVER will parallel park. Unless she has enough room to drive straight in. LOL

    My salesperson never explained this when I purchased my 2014 RAV4. I had to just keep backing up to a wall and getting out and seeing how close I could get before hitting the wall. Well done. Thanks.

    Around the 44 second mark you exit the car to look at the driver's side of the car vs the white line, but when you had looked at the rear view camera, you were backing up with the passenger's side being close to the white line, right? That view was on the viewer's left, but that's still the passenger's side, just like if you had turned around to look out the back window. Capisce?

    I am definitely struggling with this, and steering the wrong way when I try using the camera. I've only had it a few days though, so fingers crossed that Jeff's video will help me out.

    Wait anyone know if this is right?
    So the left vertical line has to be the one you are focusing on? Not the right vertical line?
    I always thought it was the right vertical line? Anyone know

    I fail to understand why you need the lines. You can easily tell the distance from the bare view of the camera.

    Hey everyone, hopefully someone can help me. I have hyundai tucson 2019. I was rear ended and took my car to a shop for repairs. I don't ever remember seeing my license plate when putting the car in reverse from the rear view camera, but I do. Is this something that is normal or something I should be concerned about?

  • @gester27

    Hey Jeff what happens if the RCD unavailable error comes up on the screen? What does that mean?

  • @danjost7689
    @danjost7689 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I backup into a parking spot, trying to guide the passenger side backup camera, (using the yellow lines to guide me) I will hit the car next to me. Other cars I have driven have a curved yellow line. Why is Toyota different.

    • @johna7287
      @johna7287 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because realistically you should never.rely on just the backup camera. It's primarily used for backing up straight and getting your car where it's not too far or close to an object.
      Sure some backup cameras can "guide you" but they never %100 compensate for the turning radius or width of the vehicle

    Hi, I test drove a new 2018 Toyota Rav4 Limited with the backup camera and did not notice any grid lines. Is it possible that these can be turned on and off in the settings? Please let me know. Thanks, Tony

    • @johna7287
      @johna7287 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Need to out the car in diagnostic mode and calibrate it.
      Changing the "guidelines" can be done through the system menu.

    • @GoDiMoNsTeR
      @GoDiMoNsTeR 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I do not know if you can turn them on or off manually. However, when you first use the backup camera, an exclamation mark inside a triangle appears in the screen. You have to turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, then all the way to the right, in order to activate the yellow curved backup guidelines.

  • @shanoncollins8522

    I like it when American people call them backup cameras. It's so much better than reversing cameras because i don't know what the Australians are talking about.
