Even with that slight defect, it is a very beautiful pen. Congrats on your find.

Yes. It is a beautiful piece and I am happy I found one in the wild at a decent price.

What were your minimum criteria for buying this used pen ?

It had a great price, it had a good nib and it came with the original box and instructions. If the piston was broken it could be fixed but the nib is very hard to fix.
So the minimum criteria are: the price because it can be used for spare parts and the condition of the gold nib.

I had this pen and hated it. I traded it for a montblanc 146 vintage which i LOOOOOVE.

Mine had a lot of feedback, even after tuning and the grip section hurt my fingers!

@@nccastro653 it's your legitimate opinion not an objective value: plastic materials used by Aurora are superior. Even in this video you can see his Montblanc has an issue with its sealing. Aurora uses ebanite for its feed as well.
Aurora's typical feedback is very subtle and never produces a resistasce: it's a feature I personally appreciate and it allows for a very clean and precise writing. Coming from an old Waterman Expert Mid nib the first time I've tested an Aurora with that particular feedback sound I was about to get annoyed then after a few seconds I realized it gave me the sensation of silk with a very fine weave. Aurora pens are meant for being smooth writers, they produce flex nibs just occasionally and lately they preferred producing elastic nibs instead of real nibs in those limited productions. Anyway this gentleman picked a model I'd never bought and an examplar that was broken. I'd never pick the metal cap that increases the marvellously light weight of Aurora 88.

You can't compare Aurora with Montblanc: the latter is extremely overrated and built with inferior materials. Aurora is meant to be a smooth writer so they don't produce regularly flex nibs anymore. The very fine feedback of their precise nibs is usually pleasant and never produces a sylk weave effect, never determines a significative resistance on the paper.
Aurora's feeds are amazing, perfectly calibrated. Never presents skips or hesitance and with Aurora's ink is even better as it contains some oil that prevents ink from drying
