That caught me off guard too! Would've gave the story of Superstars more context rather than just leaving bits out that should've been connected. Like, where did the Dragon (the True Final Boss) even come from? How was he awakened? Did Robotnik do that or was it the whole Chaos situation where he got betrayed?
That part came out of nowhere 😂 but it's a nice change of pace compared to other civilisations like echidnas Babylonians and the ancients ya know since they're extinct.
I am so happy to see that Trip isn't the last of the Sungazers, this story has provided more insight into Sonic Superstars which I find to be very good. Also, that teaser text at the end says that the Chaotix are the next ones to get an anniversary special, since Knuckles Chaotix released in 1995.
In fact, the part where Knuckles saw Trip's family is a little heartbreaking. If you look closely, you can see him blowing at one point, giving the impression that he envies Trip because she has a family and that he would like to know someone who shares a similar story to him. In fact, the whole story is a bit sad because it shows that Knuckles tries to do good things without thinking bad things. He wanted to train Trip because he probably didn't want to disappoint her, he saw that she was a child who took him as a model and on top of that, there was her boss in front of her so he accepted. He tried to train Trip the hard way to become a real fighter but ended up making her cry unintentionally, he grew up with this method. He tried to help others at the camping but ended up breaking everything because of his incredible strength ect...

I'm glad they got to expand more on Trip (personality and lore) without overshadowing Knuckles. I hope she appears in more Classic Era Stories and gets a Modern Appearance.

I loved the story, it shed light in Knuckles' life, basically Knuckles didn't have any adult figures in his life so he has to learn on his own, which makes him have difficulties in his friendships, but he is willing to learn from his mistakes. By the way i was surprised that Trip has a clan of other sungazers, also looking forward for the Shadow one-shot, the Chaotix anniversary special and in 2026 celebrating the 100th issue!
Glad to not only Knuckles have his own story, but him teaching Trip who deserves a part in a comic and Knuckles getting lessons himself on might doesn't always equal right is so inspiring.
i always wanted to see knuckles and trip interact more since they're both guardians, so this comic being just that is actually so cool. also we finally got more lore about trip and the northstar islands that sonic superstars didn't get into, like the name of that egg, and that mural from the trio of trouble prologue (also the fact trip isn't actually the last of her kind is a crazy plot twist lol)
Did you forget Ariem can't access the real world? She is completely restrained by her engagement for Reverie Haven, there's no proof she can access the world and even less she becomes important at a point she forms a whole team with Knuckles and Trip. Not to mention Knuckles already belongs to a whole team, and there's no character that belongs to 2 teams. Amy has Team Rose even if she is as iconic as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. As well as Knuckles has Team Sonic.

This comic was really adorable... I already recently got attached even more to Knuckles before thanks to the new games and fanmade creations made with love and passion, but now this attachment gets better, that's so adorable how wise, sincere and fraternal Knuckles is to Trip (especially the hug in the end, that was the most heartwarming moment❤❤❤❤❤), he really opened his heart to her and that's such adorable to see Knuckles expressing his feelings for real to someone, even Sonic didn't know this facet of him!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Also it gives Trip some Adventure art too, also the plot this time is that there's a new island unmarked on any map, and Sonic found out about it, and low & behold, Dr Eggman's there too, luckily Trip makes her Modern Debut in the opening, she liturally jumps eggman, as it turns out, the island is the Mysteax Island, trip knew it in a dream back when she was in her youth, remembering a knight of dread... it seems like Dr Eggman's going to the usual again... Uhh...the game characters weren't exactly useless on their own without sonic in the Comics infact the game characters were perfectly to handle themselves too even without sonic like I remember in the zeti-hunting arc tails was the one saving sonic's ass from the deadly six. Or Amy with belle,tangle,jewel managed to save a camp from go on fire by working together without the help of sonic. So what are you talking about man.
@@JakeThehedgehog-m1x What I mean is that there are people out there who complain about Sonic's friends even when they're arguably at their best. They will simply never see these characters as anything other than "Sonic's Stupid Friends." And you see this attitude literally everywhere, in video game reviews and (in my opinion, unfunny) internet memes and such. I truly feel like this overly negative attitude has had a bad effect on the game series itself, because it's taught the people who work on these games that there is absolutely no point in putting any effort into these characters at all; because people will hate them regardless. That's why we've had practically a decade's worth of Sonic games where Sonic's friends are, not only not allowed to be playable characters, but also stuck on the sidelines, twiddling their thumbs with absolutely nothing worthwhile in the story to do other than to gush over Sonic, almost as a way to make him look cooler by comparison. I've never agreed with that. You don't make your main character better by making the supporting cast worse.

But im 100% positive the IDW comics for the nost part definitely utilized the game characters better than games for the most (except shadow but thankfully his mandates has been toned down aswell) IDW utiltized both of it's game cast and the original cast of characters very well and adding abut development too them aswell now ofc it's not perfect it definitely has some flaws here and there i personally do have some criticims aswell but for the most part it did a good job utilize their characters well.. until frontiers and shadow generations,sonic dream team and made tails, Amy,Knuckles and shadow,cream and rouge playable again after a long time decided to finally flesh-out the modern cast of sonic.

I remember back in the 90's, people hated Tails, they hated Knuckles, and if you were to mention Amy Rose or any of the members of the Chaotix, they'd have absolutely no idea who you were talking about. It was after the disaster of Sonic 06 where Sega really started to sideline Sonic's friends, as if they themselves were the only problem instead of how they were utilised, and by the time Generations came out, the supporting Sonic cast had officially become nothing more than mere cameos. Almost like Sega were saying to their fans. "There! There's your favourite character! We're not going to do anything worthwhile with them cos the opinions of the people who hate them clearly matters more than your opinions! This is all you're getting! Now back to shoving Classic Sonic and Green Hill into every game imaginable!" Nowadays things seem a bit better when it comes to the supporting cast, what with the popularity of the live action Sonic movies. Yet when it comes to the actual games, it still genuinely feels like the damage has been done. Tails, Knuckles and Amy were written better in Frontiers than they have in years, but they were still literally sidelined to Cyberspace. They got to be playable in that game's DLC, but that just indicates that they were clearly an afterthought.
And Trip’s elder is supportive. I can imagine Pach turning in his grave because Knuckles made peace with people outside the Echidna clan and Gerald (prior to going insane) is turning over his grandson’s list of atrocities.

@@hydrocityshark There was no confirmation that trip had a village of her kind so this is completely a new thing that the IDW comics themselves established it's not some kind of game adaptation if IDW comics or the games ever introduced the sungazers village before this is something purely original by the IDW comics themselves came up with so... Clearly i was right to think the sonic IDW comics can infact introduce new locations and world building that we've never seen in games despite being canon to the game continuity like this sungazers village does count as a new world building and location because we never seen like this and we never knew it even existed until now.

Man, it is so refreshing to see Sonic characters actually interacting with one another like real people. It's a heck of a lot better than them just standing around going "Boy, I wish Sonic was here! Gee wiz, we're so utterly useless without Sonic!"

Uhh...the game characters weren't exactly useless on their own without sonic in the Comics infact the game characters were perfectly to handle themselves too even without sonic like I remember in the zeti-hunting arc tails was the one saving sonic's ass from the deadly six.
Or Amy with belle,tangle,jewel managed to save a camp from go on fire by working together without the help of sonic.

@@JakeThehedgehog-m1x What I mean is that there are people out there who complain about Sonic's friends even when they're arguably at their best. They will simply never see these characters as anything other than "Sonic's Stupid Friends." And you see this attitude literally everywhere, in video game reviews and (in my opinion, unfunny) internet memes and such.
I truly feel like this overly negative attitude has had a bad effect on the game series itself, because it's taught the people who work on these games that there is absolutely no point in putting any effort into these characters at all; because people will hate them regardless. That's why we've had practically a decade's worth of Sonic games where Sonic's friends are, not only not allowed to be playable characters, but also stuck on the sidelines, twiddling their thumbs with absolutely nothing worthwhile in the story to do other than to gush over Sonic, almost as a way to make him look cooler by comparison. I've never agreed with that. You don't make your main character better by making the supporting cast worse.
@@bowmaj8666 hmmm...i can see from what perspective you are coming from and you are right i really hate that ((sonic's stupid friends)) mentality aswelll from both critics and fans from that time they add more to the series not slowing it down they should take some spotlight aswell so yeah i agree having sonic's friends sidelined was really sucks and they got regressed too over time.
But im 100% positive the IDW comics for the nost part definitely utilized the game characters better than games for the most (except shadow but thankfully his mandates has been toned down aswell) IDW utiltized both of it's game cast and the original cast of characters very well and adding abut development too them aswell now ofc it's not perfect it definitely has some flaws here and there i personally do have some criticims aswell but for the most part it did a good job utilize their characters well.. until frontiers and shadow generations,sonic dream team and made tails, Amy,Knuckles and shadow,cream and rouge playable again after a long time decided to finally flesh-out the modern cast of sonic.

@@Abner-gu3ve Trust me, this is something that's plagued the Sonic series ever since the beginning. I remember back in the 90's, people hated Tails, they hated Knuckles, and if you were to mention Amy Rose or any of the members of the Chaotix, they'd have absolutely no idea who you were talking about.
It was after the disaster of Sonic 06 where Sega really started to sideline Sonic's friends, as if they themselves were the only problem instead of how they were utilised, and by the time Generations came out, the supporting Sonic cast had officially become nothing more than mere cameos. Almost like Sega were saying to their fans. "There! There's your favourite character! We're not going to do anything worthwhile with them cos the opinions of the people who hate them clearly matters more than your opinions! This is all you're getting! Now back to shoving Classic Sonic and Green Hill into every game imaginable!"
Nowadays things seem a bit better when it comes to the supporting cast, what with the popularity of the live action Sonic movies. Yet when it comes to the actual games, it still genuinely feels like the damage has been done. Tails, Knuckles and Amy were written better in Frontiers than they have in years, but they were still literally sidelined to Cyberspace. They got to be playable in that game's DLC, but that just indicates that they were clearly an afterthought.

@@josemejias5656 It was never confirmed in the game at all. I think it was implied since there’s no confirmed extinction event on North Star. It would also be weird if we had two descendants from two long extinct clans.
@@hydrocityshark There was no confirmation that trip had a village of her kind so this is completely a new thing that the IDW comics themselves established it's not some kind of game adaptation if IDW comics or the games ever introduced the sungazers village before this is something purely original by the IDW comics themselves came up with so... Clearly i was right to think the sonic IDW comics can infact introduce new locations and world building that we've never seen in games despite being canon to the game continuity like this sungazers village does count as a new world building and location because we never seen like this and we never knew it even existed until now.
