Do you ever worry about the counter being properly supported? Since the cabinets have an inherent gap due to the metal bracing. It's really only supported at each cabinet corner and empty along the midline of a long run
Good question. I’ve never really given it much thought. Each cabinet has sides and those get attached to cabinet next to it which gives counter support and the metal bracing gives lateral support to keep those sides upright. It does feel solid when everything is bolted together but I guess I just trusted ikea to do the engineering on it. Lol. Good observation and interesting discussion though. We do install front legs but not the rear ones. If you have time check out my 3 part ikea installation video series. I go a bit deeper on those and give a little more detail. Hope that helps 👍
If the cabinets aren’t already in we almost always install floors first. If a future owner ever decides to remove any cabinets later on they won’t have a problem with missing flooring underneath.
