    The picture of the cooling room is just incredible. So much survives at that depth, over a hundred years later. Mind blowing.

      Maybe the explosive decompression never hit this area. Probably completely underwater before the ship started sinking to the bottom. Looks like the bulbs burst due to pressure; everything else seems relatively pristine.

      Not really. It's actually rapidly deteriorating as we speak and is expected to be completely gone within the next couple of decades.

    • @Dominian1
      @Dominian1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Apparently the teak hard wood is deteriorating at a much slower rate than all the other wood, which was gone by the time they discovered the wreck in '85. The tiles and all that are obviously resistant to humidity. What I really love, is that the putty and wood are still holding up the wall and all the tiles. You'd think the impact when hitting the ground would be enough to destroy a lot of tiles.

    Of all of the videos I've watched of Titanic over the years, and all of the photos I've seen, these comparisons are the most heartbreaking. All I could think during the video was."...oh, my god; she's gone. She's really, really gone."
    May the souls of all who perished with her rest in peace.

    I have always wondered if the
    Titanic didn't hit the iceberg and sank, but continued into NY, how long she might have lasted as a trans-Atlantic ocean liner? Maybe into the 1920's? 🤔

      Her sister Olympic was in service until 1935, and she was still in good condition when she was scrapped. So I think it would've probably been similar for Titanic (assuming she survived World War I, where she most likely would've served as a troopship like Olympic).
