I think thorfin might be the strongest as an adult. He has thors strength/heart, some of askelad's tactic/mind, and thorkell's experience lol. If he got serious and decided to kill without remorse, he would be unbeatable. Vinland saga is fucking amazing!!!
But I know I'm not the only one who is so happy to find this gem and yet be traumatized everyday because the chapters take so long to come out. I already have major berserk ptsd, now I'm happy to say vinland is adding to that. (I have no life)

I have always considered Thors and Adult Thorfinn as the strongest just due to the fact that they use no weapons, no killer intent, and still outperform every one else armed up with their choice of weapon. Like Thorfinn said, that’s how experts fight. But every thing considered, I don’t think you can make a for sure list just because of how different characters match up to each other.
U could argue that thorfinn is at least as fast or faster then thor currently in the story.
Thorkell himself kind of points out the useless nature of rank lists when it comes to a fight when Thorfinn and Askeladd dueled the last time.
You can't really rank Thorfinn below Thorkell. They haven't had their third rematch yet and wouldn't it actually seem that Thorfinn would win? He beat Garm who is almost equal to Thorkell. Thorfinn can surely beat Thorkell
Thorkell is definitely stronger than Garm.
During their offscreen fight, all we know that Thorkell was going easy on Garm (avoiding fatal swings) and was out of his prime (missing an eye and 2 fingers).

All I remember is Garm saying something like "Kill me next time plez I want death," but that could mean that he just hopes to die next time they fight and not that Thorkell was intentionally missing lethal hits.
@@uvuvwevwevweonyetenyevweug6276 it’s chapter 141 and as I’ve just found out, there’s 2 different English translations for the manga. In the first one (the one I’ve been reading), Garm says “next time don’t hold back on the killing blow”.
In the second one (the one I believe you’ve been reading) he says “next time finish the job and kill me”.
I don’t speak Japanese so I can’t say which translation is the correct one.

The problem is we never see a fully unleashed thorkell, unlike thorfinn or askeladd. The guys just wants a long fight. He's like Kenpachi and gets injured a lot. But that doesn't mean he's not strong.

Askeladd is clearly stronger than garms, Thorfinn didn't stand a chance against him even tho he didn't think when fighting its clearly that askeladd was stronger than thorfinn. Askeladd was the only man to injure thors and keep up with him if garms is stronger thsn tht then he might aswell be the strongest now.
Askeladd is a excellent swordsman and a tactician fighter. You clearly took out the tactician part when comparing him to garms.
Well at the same time askellad fought thors who haven't fought anyone for 15 years. And I believe that if thorfinn actually didnt care about askellad and how he made him fight him without thinking he would've won (when he was a kid)
I would say yes as well mainly due to the fact that garm is pretty cocky and the only reason he drew against thorkell was probably due to his speed which is clearly a weakness thorkell has.

I know this was a while ago but Thorfinn wasn't even a man when he was fighting Askeladd, even though he doesn't fight with weapons anymore it's clear he is much stronger and durable in adulthood, Askeladd beat Thorfinn again and again with mind games not skill.
Garm is arguably the fastest character and is portrayed to be literal battle genius who has better feats than Askeladd because he fought Thorkell to a draw in a fair one on one.. And although it wasn't technically confirmed it's obvious he is Thorkell's son, look at their eyebrows.

thorfinn is much more stronger than thorkell because even when he was younger he fought him once and thorkell beat the shit out of him second fight he realized his mistake from london and with the help of askelladd he won and now thorfinn is much more faster smarter experienced than he was when younger and thorkell is around 50-55 yrs so thorfinn is master of fast lerning his talent as a fighter is incredible in the first fight with garm thorfinn was forced to run awy and in second fight he demolished garm so if thorkell and thorfinn had to fight again i think the info of his weakpoint and experiance would make him a winner thorkell did not grow as a person/fighter when thorfinn developt a lot he would stand no chance

Garm was terrifyingly strong for a kid his age, definitely way stronger than young thorfinn since garm went against thorkell who uses 2 axes and tied with him (keep in mind that he only had 1 spear too, well he never detached the spear into 2 in their fight) if garm grew older and was able to control his emotions I definitely think he would be stronger than thorfinn and probably even thors

Gotta take other things into account like how she was in land she knew while Thorfinn not so much. In hand to hand combat Thorfinn takes it easily and once Thorfinn learned how the crossbow worked he could beat her in a future fight
