- A lot of people aren't buying Walmart's latest attempt at inclusion: Juneteenth-themed ice cream. Social media users were upset by the product. In response, Walmart pulled the ice cream from shelves. Isiah Factor guests reacted to the photo that's been buzzing online.

As an ally too the Black Community I'm shocked and outraged that they thought it was OK. Giving them Red Velvet Cheesecake as the Flavor to represent the Black Community. Nobody thinks that "Flavor" is good, it's way too bland. Black People have suffered long and hard to be given a Flavor no one likes, the Black Community deserves Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough as their flavor.

It seems like worst thing about this is the stupid process which allowed Balchem Corp., a chemical manufacturing company headquartered in New York (or any corporation) to TRADEMARK Juneteeth (A nationally recognized holiday). To me, that is the real core problem here. If they really cared, they would pay livable wage, which they don't.
Get an education if you dont like your pay scale!
It wouldn’t matter if they paid the “livable wages” that cost will still be placed back on the consumer. So I say work hard and work somewhere that pays what you’re worth. Never settle for less. Know your worth.

In The Caribbean countries make their Emancipation Day (basically what Juneteenth is) about Carnival- there's food, festivals and fun. Tourists, including African Americans, go down and dance and parade with them. They don't go there trying to commemorate the end of slavery. It should be a day that is celebrated. Why sulk? This is what people asked for. Have barbecues, festivals, carnivals, COOKOUTS! What's wrong with celebrating? Others are also off on that day so they should also commemorate it with barbecues, beach days, parades etc. It's the perfect time to have a holiday! Summer, graduation and fathers day are also near the holiday so enjoy the holiday! It's for EVERYONE!
In addition a black owned business (Creamalicious) already makes an ice cream with these flavors called "Right as Rain" So what made Walmart think they could just swoop in, copy it and run with it?
Ice cream places do that with pretty much every flavor around. There's thousands of ice cream shops, stores, and vendors across the country, and probably hundreds of flavors. Just like beauty, meaning and taste are up to the individual person. Stop being offended by everything.
That happens with every flavor, look at salted carmel, that’s a flavor of all sorts of random foods

Juneteenth isn’t a normal holiday like Christmas. Juneteenth is a memorial holiday. Imagine you walk in the store and see Holocaust memorial ice cream. There’s a huge difference between normal holidays and memorial holidays.

The Walmart brand ice cream didn't copy the design of Creamalicious even. But even if they had designed it with a similarity in mind, that's what a lot of generic packaging do.

Can someone explain to me why this is a bad thing? Not trying to be sarcastic but it just seems like a non issue to me. It also confuses me because no one bats an eye when every company does exactly this for pride month.
There's a lot of assumption in this video. They're assuming that no one on the committee to get this ice cream up "looks like them", if there were then they just lost a bunch of money because some black folks are complaining about it. The other thing is that Walmart was trying to give folks what they want. That's how they got big. They gave the people what they wanted. You wanted ice cream to show "diversity"and "inclusion", we get it and still complain. I wouldn't even be mad if chicken and waffle flavor or watermelon flavor with candy seeds, just like every other minority group give it time and folks will try to figure out a way to market it. Whether or not you buy it is another thing. It's not necessary to complain or even bring up to folks who didn't know. Now I bring it up to other black folks just to laugh about it.
I'm not black so my opinion doesn't matter. It looks like just another flavor amoung the thousands that are available. The name is a bit cringey but Walmart didn't create the name "Juneteenth," the black community did. Walmart is about making money & shouldn't have to pander to people's beliefs & feelings. With the increased prices of food, now nor ever is it the time to be throwing out product just because someone doesn't like the labeling. Just don't buy it and let the sales data show what people really want.

@ Paty Sipes, clearly you do not know American History. July 4th 1776 Blacks were still SLAVES in AMERICA. Whites were fighting for freedom from their own people while holding another people as slaves, Slavery wasnt abolished until 1865 and still went on for years.

Back in the day, D.J.'s would do radio commercials for Hiney Wine when there was no such product. The commercials so funny & so popular, you know it, they had to have someone come out with a real Hiney Wine. {My wife was digging around in the refrigerator, I reached around her & grabbed some hiney.}
I absolutely LOVED those commercials on the radio even though it wasn't an actual product. The place the wine was made was in a town called Scrub Ridge, and we never found out what state that was in. Hilarious.
