The reason Bollywood can easily copy Pakistani songs is because there is hostility between the countries, therefore they don't care and not afraid to break the copy right laws, and the Indian government looks the other way. If Indians have any self respect, they should demand the Arts and Entertainment organization to ban the copied material , until they buy the rights by paying the original talent (Indian or Pakistani). Jubin and others must pay out of their money to Rahat Fateh Ali (Late Ustad Nusrat's nephew) or any other artist.

Singers, poets, writers etc. should have all copyrights reserved - any one using their creations in any way must have to pay an agreed price to the original creator. The governments should bring in this system.We see in the West artists earn huge sums and everybody who can, tries to come up with new songs, books etc. To be a successful artist is to be something special. Here people like Mahdi Hassan are far from getting what they should. Is there a single ghazal sung by him which is not sung by scores of up coming artists? They just acknowledge if they so wish, that it was sung by him but, what use is that to him? Anybody can pick up a ghazal written by Faraz, sing it and make money - they dont even mention the name of the poet. A properly worked out, copyright system, agreed universally, can enhance the arts in South Asia and reward the artists. I hope people like you (i.e., Panjabi Reel TV) should mount a compaign to bring in the change. Copying, not only across the border, but within the borders is still theft.
