Ilive out in the country but work in a somewhat urban environment. I have a get home bag with a trauma kit and an ouch pouch with fire starting means and an MRE. I also carry a Glock 17 with 2 mags. My walk home if I had too is 3hrs give or take. Love your channel bro!
I lived in Skid Row LA, and have been to Compton. I carried a first aid kit with me at all times. I couldn't afford TQ's, or quick clot, but I had gauze, bandages and Ace bandage. By the grace of God I was never stabbed or shot (it helps to only travel during the day.) I also carried a CS Spartan with me. My biggest fear was getting into a fight, defending myself and being thrown in jail for defending myself. I did hear gunshots go off at night, and it really got lively on New Years eve, because idiots shot their guns in the air. I looked at living there as being behind enemy lines. Went about my business quietly, and didn't start trouble. I'm not a combat expert but I practice the martial art known as "Don't be there." Meaning, don't put yourself in a situation like that if you can help it. It would be extremely foolish for a prepared citizen to get into an urban gun battle, during rule of law. The communist news media would have a field day with it. It would have to be a bad SHTF situation for something like that to happen and you would be a fool, because you would've had some warning signs before things got to that point. Those tacticool fools have no idea of what it's like to live in an urban area. I also lived through the 1992 LA Riot aka the Rodney King fire sale. The rooftop Koreans were in a similar situation during those riots. Many of them were in the ROK, knew how to organize, and fortify themselves.
As always, you give excellent advice, and provoke "thought". My answer to your first question in this video: "Why would anyone be driving through an urban area in the first place?... People who either live in urban areas, or enter urban areas, have already put themselves at risk. Why do that? There is NO conceivable readon to EVER live or even enter ANY urban area. "Survival", is more than having an AR, Gucci or Plain-Jane. DO NOT EVER put yourself or others in a potentially dangerous circumstance. "...if there is a doubt, there is NO doubt..."
I'm not driving through a kill zone with my family in a soft skin civilian vehicle. Make that 90 degree, and get the hell outta there. In the event someone is hit, you don't take the peddle off the gas until you're at a point of safety. I'd maybe add a Red Cross to my vehicle inorder to cause hesitation towards any attackers.
So, to answer fhe scenario… 1) If I’m part of a mutiny-vehicle convoy, first order of business is to designate one vehcle as a recon screen, and 1 or 2 as some kind of QRF with no civilians as lead elements. 2) If the screen takes fire, they should immediately evade, without blown through the kill zone. If they get pinned, the QRF element engages to relieve the pressure. Save the screen vehicle of practical. 3) additional elements carrying non-combatants holds back as support for the others as they bug out.
Same scenario single vehicle… Top priority is to not engage. Bug out & do not go through the kill zone. If a child is injured, lay down suppressing fire only if there is no way to safely extract the wounded child. If there are others in the vehicle (i.e.: spouse) that person is responsible for the extract but only ahen I say it’s safe. While I stay in iverwatch position and determine where the fall ack location is. Once extracted, perform initial triage to stabilize the wounded to love and fall back to cover. Continue triage as soon as the fallback is secured. Then break contact as soon as practical.
I’m not an urban type of guy and if I have to go to the big city I deliberately avoid high crime areas. My wife and used to go downtown to Chima Steakhouse and walk the streets after dinner but last time the street was infested with homeless mentally ill / drug addicts. Guess who doesn’t go to Chima’s anymore? Me and the boys? Sure! But I’m not deliberately putting my wife in danger over a steak.
Only hits count. Return fire to force contact to break off, then treat any injuries to be able to move to cover, and then treat injuries better until proper aid arrives.
If the wife is in the truck. She will be a human shield. LOL just kidding. I LOVE my wife. Vehicles are bullet magnets. And with the flying shrapnel. You have to get off the X as fast as possible.
Your scenario is convoluted and rather unclear. But, will try to address one aspect. If you have a child in the car or a wounded buddy. You need to address the threat first if they can not get out of the car on their own. If you try to extract them from the vehicle while the enemy is still putting rounds in uncontested, you simply will become wounded or killed also. If nothing else you will hopefully draw the fire from the car and away from the child or wounded buddy. While changing the equation. Hopefully enough for you to survive the ambush.
The only reason i could see me being out would be to get my daughter and grandkids. If one was hurt id die a little inside but id have to return fire to eliminate threats. My biggest threat around here is tweakers, they don't even know what they are going to do. As far as police, i have an aquaintance who is retired sheriffs deputy between where i live and my familys place. Id get in touch with him on my hike home and see how to best handle it. You have given me a whole new set of problems to figure out👍, thanks pard. On another question you posed , i keep 12 magazines in the truck with my rifle. I always was worried about running out, had bad dreams about it😂 Anyway, thanks for making me think

I do a woods drill around here! More a survival type thing. I try to avoid all contact as much as possible. Pedal to the metal!! I drive a tank so unless they got 50 bmg. I’m good
Honestly I'd probably park the vehicle within about 5 miles of a city, into the woods as much as i can, have another 2 guys with me if possible, while at least 1 stays behind with the women and children, probably the eldest man who is able to move if needed but can't run much, and do some recon beforehand. Im hoping to get a decent drone eventually for this, but in either case, get about a few miles in the city, take the night in the highest spece we can safely, taking turns, see how dangerous the area is, before we EVER let the car into the city. Thats our best way to get across long distances with children. Even without ac on, still rather be in a hot car for a couple hours with a few weeks of food and some shelters (tents) than be in the humid Texas heat walking for even 2 miles with a cranky 2 year old in a potentially dangerous urban center and we just lost most of our food and gear.
Bad neighborhood Get out of there! Everyone says that from LA, Detroit to Chicago Prepping Is about creating a better, safer place. Not looking forward to some dystopian future.
WHY would you be out and about, in daylight? WHY would you have more than one night in the city? why would you not move thru the storm drains, taking MUCH less risk than being on the streets? If your city has no tunnels to walk thru, why aint you got a quiet little e bike and solar charger bank for it? Get a fairing for it, so a stretch of fishing line wont cut your head off. At 15 mph, zig-zagging, you can be very hard to hit. amazon makes a spring-clamp that mounts a rifle across your handlebars. With such a bike, you can be out of any city in an hour or so, and most of them, much faster than that. There's nothing worth fighting for in any city. Cache your food, etc in scattered burials around your BOL, which has to be in the woods around your local water source. You'll never make it any further than that. Once there, dig a tunnel and STAY in it for a year, coming out only at night and only for an hour or so, to cook a meal. That first 90 days, eat food that doesnt require cooking. by 90 days, the dogs will all have been eaten, so it will be less risky to cook at that point. Within a year, 99% of the population will be dead. then you can have hidden plots of root veggies (tended at night). You dont want anything to do with this figthing bs, folks
Study videos from people who live in the hood or these urban spots. They live SHTF everyday.Ducking bullets everyday.Probably could pick up some pointers

What 😂 you're telling me you're one of those guys that pulls the trigger when you're not on target?!? Or are you telling me your fundamentals are so bad where you're aiming and where that round is going are two different points? Than train more. If you need more than 90 rounds in an urban conflict you're fucked anyways. Not sure when you're gonna fight 200 people 💀 most conflicts by stat are max a handful of people.
Not possible in a SHTF situation... you MUST go into urban areas to get supplies such as medicine you cant produce naturally and food as well as clothes and equipment... that being said you should never just roll into an urban area... set up camp right outside of the urban area and do an area recon for about 3 days or so depending on the foot traffic before you decide to desend down into an urban center...

Good topic to discuss. I bet most folks don’t think about that scenario

Man, glad i dont have to worry about urban areas much anymore
3:10 an important consideration for anyone in my area, with its many bottlenecks.
If you have to get out of your vehicle, stay close to the motor. That's the toughest place for a bullet to penetrate.
So, to answer fhe scenario…
1) If I’m part of a mutiny-vehicle convoy, first order of business is to designate one vehcle as a recon screen, and 1 or 2 as some kind of QRF with no civilians as lead elements.

Exit the area as quickly and safely as possible.
Now this is awesome discussion.
If you'd like, you could find the focal point on your lens and set it, so you can turn the auto focus off.
One scenario, so many questions! These are tough questions that need to be considered in desperate situations.

Is the ambush near or far. Break contact at all cost. If vehicle is disabled, you need to get people out of the kill zone. Train. Train. Train.
