So I’ve been to Cancun 3 times, twice to the same resort which is smaller. It only had 2 speciality restaurants but the buffet did themed evenings. There was plenty of entertainment, drinks and staff were wonderful. It was on the beach and was a 15 minute walk or 5 mins by taxi to Playa Del Carmen We were rebooked to a larger resort much further away when renovations were taking longer. It had 5 hotels round a core part each a different level of luxury. The basics were fantastic. You could use any bar or restaurant but it was difficult getting a reservation for the 20 speciality restaurants. The plus was a sports bar open 24/7 with snacks and a night club in resort but we definitely preferred the smaller hotel where staff remembered your table preferences, your drink preferences at breakfast . That said I’d certainly like the look of Planet Hollywood so will check this out.

I joined a fb page of PH and all the negative reviews have read about dampness and bad food and long waits but still, am decided to do my vacay in this hotel. I was checking some of the other hotels but this is my best preference. Plus I believe in you guys.🥰🥰 Your reviews and tips in this video were so detailed I feel like I am there right now😁. This will be my first solo travel , I am praying that hopefully have the best experience same as your family🙏🙏. And I will try to book the same room u had to get the best views. I have never been so excited in my life. Thank you very much and keep posting new vidz. Tbh, I have a lot of questions to ask but I think I will have to figure it on my own as a surprise😝 but all your tips I noted it down already. Super thankss🥰🥰👌👌👌
was there for 1 week and it was terrible. jan25 to feb 1 2023. Horrible hotel bad food long lines cheap decor. the employees are very nice but most can't speak english. Tacky . The beach is not great and the loungers are hard as a rock. If you like noise alot of drunk people and cheap hotel rooms this place is for you. at 3 star at best. Go somewhere else for your money. as well very windy.
@@jenniferbrost4823 we had a very different experience to you it seems. Zero communication problems with staff and found the beach to be beautiful. We also throught the food in general was good for a resort catering for lots of people. Totally disagree about the cheap rooms but we are all entitled to our opinon. Sorry you had an unenjoyable visit.
Great resort tour. We are the same once we’ve been it’s nice to explore different areas or hotels. It’s does look amazing though 🧡 On a different note - we were talking to a lady in MCO waiting for flight home, she is a big fan of yours and loves watching your vlogs. Hi Annie, if you email me then I can share the contact details for you if that helps. We typically tipped housekeeping 2/3 USD a day and the same for the person who stocked the mini bar. When we put a $5 in and a note we got some extras normally reserved for Star Class guests (M&M's, chocolate milk and crisps etc). We would usually leave 2 USD at our table when leaving the buffet and 5 or 10 at a table service dinner. We didn't tip every drink by the pool etc but would usually do a couple of dollars every two or three services. From memory we gave the bellboy 10 dollars for helping us find our room and tale our luggage

They are just about dry now 😉😂 We didn't go in to Cancun only through it on the bus on excursions. It is expensive to travel there in a taxi I believe due to the distance from the resort.
Just caught up with your last 2 mexico vlogs, we did the same trip through the hotel and like you thought it was worth every penny. If we were to go again, we said we'd like to see the tulum ruins to compare. Thanks for sharing, its brought back some amazing memories. Hope youve all had/having a good summer. 👍😎
We were interested in Tulum too and have said the same thing if we go back to Mexico. We are all good here thank you and hope you are too. We've got two groups of friends from Derby on the Island at the moment living the Tenerife dream and sending photos with drinks in hand. Not envious in the slightest 😉

Hi guys - I’m going here for two weeks in April this year and going to watch 2 x Premier League football games in the sports bar (or worst case anywhere else in the hotel) however the games kick off at 3pm UK time which is 10am Cancun time and PH Website says Sports Bar isn’t open at that time. Do you know if they’d show it or where I could watch? Thanks!
Hi Zack, the sportsbar wont be open but they did show games on the big outdoor screen where they do entertainment in the evenings. They showed a Scotland game whilst we were there and F1 etc so hopefully you should be ok 👍

Hi there. Our room was absolutely fine. We were on the top floor and had no issues with damp/ smell whatsoever. We loved our room. The seaweed was cleared daily by a tractor and didn't impact us at all. We really did love our day at Costa Mujeres though - incredible Island 😎 Hopefully the below links may help with both. Thanks for uploading such an amazing video. Am going in a few weeks so this was very helpful. May I ask why you chose dollars and not pesos? I am also from England and not sure whether to use card / dollars or pesos!
They seem to use both, but in the resort everything is quoted in dollars. On excursions there were prices for both but mostly pesos. You could use both in all places. We took a 50/50 split of dollars and pesos which worked well for us. Hope you have an amazing time ❤️

Hi Manjot. We experienced very little rain during our stay and it came and went very quickly. We were down by the pool once and the heavens opened for 10 mins and then it was business as usual again. Have an amazing time ❤️
Great vid guys. Family and I are seriously thinking of booking this next summer but after a very good tour it looks like everything I'd hate. Not interested in Nicole Kidman's costume and I hate Bon Jovi and Queen- never mind tribute bands 🤣. Shops selling expensive toot that you can buy in the local market. Arcade looks like a rip off. Beautiful grounds but it could be anywhere-no Mexican feel. Like the pitch and putt, kids club also looks good, splash park is wonderful for kids too. The multitude of restaurants is brilliant and a great alternative to the buffet. Pool is as I'd expect-no expense spared and better quality sun loungers. Protected area is rubbish compared to the Iberostar where they have an amazing jungle landscape with waterfalls, Spider Monkeys, Coatis, Flamingos and other animals running free. Beach looks great and that's where I'd be spending most of the time while our teenage son would be in that pool. As much as I'd hate all the Hollywood glitz - too much like Las Vegas; the food, room service and waiter service by the beach, I think I'd be outvoted and looks like we'll be booking this next summer🤣. I'll bring glue!

Hi Aimee. We took a mixture of dollars and pesos as we had read conflicting advice too. It worked fine having a mixture and from memory we took 75% usd and 25% pesos. The staff will happily accept either and the same with the shops. Have a wonderful wedding and an amazing time at PH ❤️

It looks like most of the things happening are on the family side however I’d like the added benefit of adults only. How far is the walk from the adult scene to the family side of the resort?
Its a huge resort but the walkway to adult scene is pretty much right in the centre so you will be close to the amenities on the family side. Would be a great choice.
Hi, I'm travelling to PH this Friday from Manchester. Your video was impeccable well done and thank you. We are staying in the Adults only area. 2 questions: Which was the best breakfast and dinner buffet restaurant in your opinion with the biggest selections? We are flying with TUI, do you still have to pay a departure tax or is this now paid through TUI when you book. If so how much is it? Thanks and all the best.
Hi Graham, there is only the one buffet restaraunt for breakfast and dinner. There is a second one that opens (down near the beach) but that is open for lunch only. We did pay that tax and from memory it wasn't particularly expensive. Make sure to keep the half of the paperwork that you fill in on the plane safe after you go through immigration as you will need it again for flying home otherwise you have to pay more money. Just wanted to ask; What are the other hotel guests like? The hotel we stayed in August had lots from the US, Canada and quite a few Europeans. Generally friendly and no yobbish behaviour. Not being snobbish in the slightest but I've done the boozy, raucous holidays when I was younger, and we've done budget hotels where some of the guests I'd cross the road to avoid🤣. Love to hear your views.
Hi Eddie, predominantly Brits, Americans and Canadians when we were there and we didn't see any yobbish antics but plenty of rude people (poor behaviour towards staff).
@@TD3Vlogs Saw that at the Iberostar too. Seems us Brits were the only people that tended to behave respectfully towards staff. The staff pay is above average compared but it's still pretty poor. I did feel sorry for the staff at times.

This is a huge campus. The only minor downside for us was that it is a bit out from the main area. Hope you're well John 👍

The beach is not great and the loungers are hard as a rock. If you like noise alot of drunk people and cheap hotel rooms this place is for you. at 3 star at best. Go somewhere else for your money. as well very windy.
@@jenniferbrost4823 we had a very different experience to you it seems. Zero communication problems with staff and found the beach to be beautiful. We also throught the food in general was good for a resort catering for lots of people. Totally disagree about the cheap rooms but we are all entitled to our opinon. Sorry you had an unenjoyable visit.

We typically tipped housekeeping 2/3 USD a day and the same for the person who stocked the mini bar. When we put a $5 in and a note we got some extras normally reserved for Star Class guests (M&M's, chocolate milk and crisps etc).
We would usually leave 2 USD at our table when leaving the buffet and 5 or 10 at a table service dinner.
We didn't tip every drink by the pool etc but would usually do a couple of dollars every two or three services.
From memory we gave the bellboy 10 dollars for helping us find our room and tale our luggage

They are just about dry now 😉😂
We didn't go in to Cancun only through it on the bus on excursions. It is expensive to travel there in a taxi I believe due to the distance from the resort.

Hi guys - I’m going here for two weeks in April this year and going to watch 2 x Premier League football games in the sports bar (or worst case anywhere else in the hotel) however the games kick off at 3pm UK time which is 10am Cancun time and PH Website says Sports Bar isn’t open at that time. Do you know if they’d show it or where I could watch? Thanks!
Hi Zack, the sportsbar wont be open but they did show games on the big outdoor screen where they do entertainment in the evenings. They showed a Scotland game whilst we were there and F1 etc so hopefully you should be ok 👍

Hi there. Our room was absolutely fine. We were on the top floor and had no issues with damp/ smell whatsoever. We loved our room. The seaweed was cleared daily by a tractor and didn't impact us at all. We really did love our day at Costa Mujeres though - incredible Island 😎 Hopefully the below links may help with both. Thanks for uploading such an amazing video. Am going in a few weeks so this was very helpful. May I ask why you chose dollars and not pesos? I am also from England and not sure whether to use card / dollars or pesos!
They seem to use both, but in the resort everything is quoted in dollars. On excursions there were prices for both but mostly pesos. You could use both in all places. We took a 50/50 split of dollars and pesos which worked well for us. Hope you have an amazing time ❤️

Hi Manjot. We experienced very little rain during our stay and it came and went very quickly. We were down by the pool once and the heavens opened for 10 mins and then it was business as usual again. Have an amazing time ❤️

Great vid guys. Family and I are seriously thinking of booking this next summer but after a very good tour it looks like everything I'd hate. Not interested in Nicole Kidman's costume and I hate Bon Jovi and Queen- never mind tribute bands 🤣. Shops selling expensive toot that you can buy in the local market. Arcade looks like a rip off. Beautiful grounds but it could be anywhere-no Mexican feel. Like the pitch and putt, kids club also looks good, splash park is wonderful for kids too. The multitude of restaurants is brilliant and a great alternative to the buffet. Pool is as I'd expect-no expense spared and better quality sun loungers. Protected area is rubbish compared to the Iberostar where they have an amazing jungle landscape with waterfalls, Spider Monkeys, Coatis, Flamingos and other animals running free. Beach looks great and that's where I'd be spending most of the time while our teenage son would be in that pool. As much as I'd hate all the Hollywood glitz - too much like Las Vegas; the food, room service and waiter service by the beach, I think I'd be outvoted and looks like we'll be booking this next summer🤣. I'll bring glue!
If you do take the plunge I hope the rest of your family enjoy it more than you will by the sounds of it 😂😂😂👍

Hi Aimee. We took a mixture of dollars and pesos as we had read conflicting advice too. It worked fine having a mixture and from memory we took 75% usd and 25% pesos. The staff will happily accept either and the same with the shops. Have a wonderful wedding and an amazing time at PH ❤️

It looks like most of the things happening are on the family side however I’d like the added benefit of adults only. How far is the walk from the adult scene to the family side of the resort?
Its a huge resort but the walkway to adult scene is pretty much right in the centre so you will be close to the amenities on the family side. Would be a great choice.

Hi Graham, there is only the one buffet restaraunt for breakfast and dinner. There is a second one that opens (down near the beach) but that is open for lunch only. We did pay that tax and from memory it wasn't particularly expensive. Make sure to keep the half of the paperwork that you fill in on the plane safe after you go through immigration as you will need it again for flying home otherwise you have to pay more money. Just wanted to ask; What are the other hotel guests like? The hotel we stayed in August had lots from the US, Canada and quite a few Europeans. Generally friendly and no yobbish behaviour. Not being snobbish in the slightest but I've done the boozy, raucous holidays when I was younger, and we've done budget hotels where some of the guests I'd cross the road to avoid🤣. Love to hear your views.
Hi Eddie, predominantly Brits, Americans and Canadians when we were there and we didn't see any yobbish antics but plenty of rude people (poor behaviour towards staff).
@@TD3Vlogs Saw that at the Iberostar too. Seems us Brits were the only people that tended to behave respectfully towards staff. The staff pay is above average compared but it's still pretty poor. I did feel sorry for the staff at times.
