If you take a close look at a map of the island you will see that "Old San Juan" is in the northern coast of the island, not the western coast. Also, Old San Juan is the capital of Puerto Rico, of course after it was moved from the area known as Caparra, which was actually the first capital town as established by Don Juan Ponce de Leon.
