There were slight rearrangements of the theme over it's 11 year run, but this version appeared in only 3 episodes late in Season 1.

I wonder how many variations of the opening there were (not counting cast changes).

From what I've gathered, Seasons 1 and 2 are the same, except for three episodes in Season 1 with this opening. The theme is fairly similar for Seasons 3 and 4 as well.
Season 5 has a new arrangement. Season 6 has a fairly similar arrangement.
Season 7 and 8 share the same version.
And then Season 9, 10, and 11 each have their own theme apiece.
