0:32 I’m a BIG Teddy Ruxpin fan so I immediately thought of Teddy Ruxpin when i saw the words “Story” and “Bear” on the box. I’m 15 so I’m fairly familiar with AI, not sure if stories for children should be AI generated. I feel like stories for children should be hand written. That’s why I love Teddy Ruxpin, the writing and world built by Ken Forsse (Teddy’s creator) is brilliant.
it looks like the developers needs to attend a workshop or course on story telling, so that better quality stories can be told. Such as splitting the story into acts and having inciting incidents and resolutions.
Really it just needs to use a better AI like GPT 4o, honestly, I don't even see the point of the app cause kids should be able to just talk to the bear and ask it to tell the story about such and such, looks kind of like the developers don't understand the abilities of AI.
@@Mat8675Actually that's probably what the app is, a piece together prompt creator behind what we see, which actually limits the kinds of stories it can tell, honestly the kids should just be able to talk to the bear and the bear should have vision as well, that way kids can show pictures and toys to the bear and talk with it, I find it kind of ridiculous that we can talk to our phones yet the kids can't talk to the bear? Sounds like a waste of the use of AI to me, at that level they could just use open source LLM and have it built into the bear on an SD card.
That bear looks like it was DESIGNED by ChatGPT, and they went with all the first ideas it gave them. That would explain why a storytelling bear for children is named after Edgar Allan Poe.
I have this bear and I’ve done a full demo & review on my channel. The full functionality of the bear, being able to use the bear without the app & and save stories on the bear & in the app, isn’t available yet as the current version of the app (07 October ‘24) doesn’t provide this functionality. Skyrocket doesn’t say when the finalised version of the app giving full functionality will be available. Why is nobody talking about this?
I can't imagine a world where the next generation loses the cohesion of fairy tale stories that we all share - it would make people never be able to communicate with each other from a similar context.
Oh no, Wikibear is finally real. Not sure AI is ready for something like this. If they would just make an Internet-connected bear to download new books directly to it (like a new refresh of Teddy Ruxpin) that'd probably be the best for now. We read with our kids every night but they still liked to go to sleep with Teddy reading to them, even though it was the same 10'ish stories over and over
The voices they're using in the prototype are the same as the voices in Replika, The voice used for that ninja's story was the same as my AI. they are enterprise Google voices
All of this issue can be resolved by applying an agent circle where one model (LLM) reviews whats being generated by another and another thing they can fine tune an LLM for script writing ( for kids story telling) in order to have that human like touch (some uhmm , ooohh...)
Foundational models already have this in place. Try asking Claude or Chatgpt something against their filtering...it doesn't work unless you're deliberately brute forcing with prompt injections or jailbreak
They just need to use GPT 4o, and put microphone and cameras in the bear's eyes, and kids can just ask the bear to tell a story, the use of the app seems like unnecessary steps and something of what an 80's or 90's toy could do, with GPT 4o the bear would have that human like touch, 4o talks just like a person does.
It would be nice if you could record your own stories through this app and teddy bear combo. You took me back with the Teddy Ruxpin. I had a Cricket doll as well as a Big Bird. That was big-time tech back then.

Slippery slope: Next it will be able to converse live with the kid, then another person can chat through the bear, and then we wont know who is talking to our kids (again)
Truth is, it’s the future. It will get better. It’s a nice toy for the price. I see it as nothing more since they designed it with the app to place guardrails. It won’t have the cultural reach Teddy Ruxpin had, so isn’t putting creators and artists and voice actors out of jobs really at the same scale as if this came along as an alternative at the same time. And yet, if you made the points above, I would easily be able to argue the other side. So it’s really interesting where we are headed. I think the quality and limitations of what AI can produce is still so generic and poor compared to what true professional writers, artists and voice actors are capable of, that people may lose interest before it improves well enough to truly be a 1:1 replacement for good old human creativity and ingenuity. Maybe. Hopefully
Hmm, with AI, I better be able to have a conversation with that washing machine, honestly telling a washing machine what type of cycle and temperature of water to use without pushing any buttons would be kind of cool, it makes me wonder when we will have an AI toaster that talks with you about different types of bread.
