- For most of its history, Formula 1 has been a very Eurocentric sport. Indeed, the overwhelming majority of drivers, teams, Grands Prix, and personnel are either from or based in Europe, but there is a significant majority of each of these that have come from elsewhere. Formula 1 has raced on every continent except Antarctica at one time or another in its history, and there have always been a steady stream of drivers from South America and the Asia-Pacific region alongside the majority White European driver line-ups. There have also been drivers from parts of the world not so closely associated with motorsport. One of these had a relatively brief career in Formula 1 where he was burdened with uncompetitive machinery and made an all-too-negative reputation for himself amongst some drivers, never fully being able to show his potential, but was one of first drivers to break barriers in Formula 1 and pave the way for the growth of motorsport in the world’s largest democracy. This is the story of Narain Karthikeyan.

I remember liking Karthikeyan back in 2005, partly because he was the first Indian driver and partly because I was Jordan fan.
Also, not really related, but that "idiot and cucumber" part shows how much has Vettel matured as a person from his Red Bull days. He went from being completely unlikeable twat to being one of the coolest guys in F1. Kinda amazing, honestly.
I was in Zhuhai and saw Narain winning in A1 back in 2007, great memories

Fun fact:in the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,after Rosberg crashed into Karthikeyan,they were both seen casually chatting as they headed to the pit lane,a moment of sportsmanship.

Well, at least Sato wasn't the worst of his country in that era. Yuji Ide, well...
Sato was OK when he wasn't crashing, even managed to get 1 podium in 2004. But yes, there were a lot of dunces in F1 at that time.
I actually kinda liked HRT's 2012 livery quite a lot. Otherwise, there's not really that much good to say in said team.

I sometimes wish Vettel still had that ruthless streak he once did. For all the good that he did elsewhere, Karthikeyan really was an idiot and he made even Max Chilton look like a world beater. I do not miss him in the slightest.
At 15:30 , "he crashed in practice and failed to qualify but in the race finished 17th" , very confusing information.
I never liked him, not much talent and unlikeable personality for me, but thanks for the another good video, we love the long videos 👍
