Hello Ryan, Thank you so much I hope you give them a try… The oil I do strain and reuse after a few times then I always dispose in my empty coffee cans wrapped in a tied bag hope this helps❤️
I believe it was vegetable shortening or canola can’t remember peanut oil is best but by all means any cooking oil or vegetable shortening will work as long it has a high smoke point….. always here to help feel free to ask any questions you may have❤️
I boil mine first, let cool then I do this. Only takes one fry but harder to cut boiled potatoes. But that soft inside with the crispy outside is delicious 😋
Was looking for a good mojo recipe but all the ones I seen didn’t look like the ones I had growing up until now! FABULOUS! The crispy batter, the seasoning... the crunch when your son bit one... 😋😍 Looks so good I can’t wait to try these! 😋 thanks so much for the recipe and I know my children and husband will thank you too! God bless.
Yumm I loved these as a kid our local grocery store had them and now I haven’t been able to find them around where I live so I’m gonna make my own. Thanks for the video.
Girl you made my day, I'm making my grocery list this weekend and I got a bag of pollock fish and cook. This and a salad 🥗. and my favorite TV show Date Line on Friday night, I'm good thanks again 😀
I'm originally from Northeast Ohio and we call them "Jo-Jo's" I moved down south many years back and no one knew what they were! 😂 They have potato wedges but they're not the same. I've made them but mine too aren't the same. Your recipe, however is! I'm so happy and excited to try! At all the pizza and chicken places, in Ohio, "chicken and jojo's" are the norm together. Anyway, thank you for both the fried chicken recipe and this one! Now I feel like I can bring a little bit of 'home' here! ❤
Yummy yummy... they look GOOOD...I preboiled my wedges first..so I don't have to fry twice ...anyway I'm making them tonight for dinner w/a Hamburger on a bun.... CAN'T WAIT
Just watching this I would add a little bit of corn starch to the flour mixture. but I love it all ready. That's why I don't go to KFC anymore because they stop 🛑 Selling these potatoe weggies and now French fries. I can go to McDonald's for that.
Just came across this video wanting to try something new and they came out amazing. Thanks!!! I didn’t do to bad for a yankee now living in Kansas City 😀😀
I've seen several videos on how to make these and I like your seasoning best. And thanks for correcting temp; I wondered if you were doing Celsius lol.
my mom would always take a little bit of flour to test the oil when she getting ready to fry her food. If it sizzle when she drop it in the oil. it was ready!.
@@CookingWithDonna I ended up making them last night. I should have used more salt though. But they were soooo good. I am going to be making these from now on. I used to buy them, but these are so much better. Really good recipe. Cheers to you Donna. Amazing.
Ross I'm thrilled to hear this and yes once you find your salt balance oh so much better...thanks for your feed back and I thank you for watching stay safe❤
Ma'am we have a place here in Richmond VA called krispies and they make these fries and I've tried for years to duplicate as a chef I feel stupid, forgot the egg
Are you saying "teaspoon" when referring to ingredient amounts? The amount of some of the ingredients your using appear to be much more than what your stating. I want to make sure I get the recipe right when I cook some. They look amazing!
SAZON is mix of coriander seed and ANNATTO(it's a natural food coloring and spice that comes from the seeds of the achiote tree (Bixa orellana) nothing special, you already had paprika, you can just add some turmeric to crushed coriander seed
It’s ok I tryed to right it down but I made it tonight and they were good but I didn’t have the Sazon spice and Italian seasoning wish I can post a picture of them
I’m so sorry this happened by any chance did you allow the potatoes to rest after dredging so they become somewhat tacky this allows the batter to stick to the potatoes
This really damn good looking wedges? the 7-11 wedges here suck ass cause the cooks making them are Filipinos. I don't know why I ask everytime!? Me: "How come you guys don't make them crispier?" Counter lady(Filipino): "Our boss tell us to use other recipe~" I ask the Manager assigned at this 7-11. and he tells me we never changed the recipe? Either i'm being lied too or they really skimp on the damn ingredients and thus no longer taste good. Taste bland and uncrispy as hell.
@@CookingWithDonna just a question? when you cut your wedges? Are they already cooked half way or still pretty raw. Edit: "Just asking cause I'm not confident in my second fry phase.
You can definitely parboil if you like depending on how big you cut will determine how long to boil...here I did use raw to fry but I do parboil at times ...Hope this helps.
Temp for frying is 350F I believe it sounded like I said 150 I apologize for that.
I kept hearing 150 and I knew that couldn't be right. I'm glad that you clarified that it was 350. They look amazing.
Can u send me the whole recipe
These are the most incredible looking crispy wedges I've ever seen... can't wait to make them! Thanks for posting 😁
Just curious, do you strain and reuse the oil? If not, how do you dispose of the used oil?
Hello Ryan, Thank you so much I hope you give them a try… The oil I do strain and reuse after a few times then I always dispose in my empty coffee cans wrapped in a tied bag hope this helps❤️

@@CookingWithDonna Thanks for the reply! Just curious, what type of oil did you use? (last question 😅)

I love saving my batter ,and put it in a zip lock bag in the fridge for next time I cook this. .
❤️
You can bar poil the wedges first I've found that to be good, going to try these but I might need a new pan, my frying pan is shallow
You sure can indeed ❤️
Yes and use baking soda..making it fluffy or light of the inside.
Making these tomorrow night for dinner with some good ol smashed cheeseburgers
That a girl❤️
Yum
❤️
Now that’s what I’m talking about
That’s what I call Goooodddd Wedges 😋

Yes I like Lawrys❤️
Just like chesters chicken wedges. Nice
Thank you VanWilder❤️
Thanks Donna! Just what I was looking for
Awesome!❤️
Very good Donna!! Looks delicious👌👌
Thank you!
What did you do to the potatoes before dredging and frying? Boil or bake?
Raw is what I used you can definitely parboil if you like❤️
Okay, now my mouth is watering and my stomach is growling lol.
We love them❤
Yummy delicious 😋
❤️
Did you parboil the potatoes beforehand?
I didn’t but you sure can❤️
I'll try this out with chicken tomorrow
Ruth please let us know how it turned out for you and thanks for watching!
Thank you ❤
You are so welcome ❤️
Yes looks Delicious 😋👌😍
Thank you Diamond!
These look so good I have everything else except for the sazon and total seasoning can I still make these?
Hello Trisha you can definitely try your favorite seasonings❤️
@@CookingWithDonna Awesome thank you so much for the reply🥰
I just realized I don’t have no eggs can I just use milk instead
Trisha the coating will not be the same the egg holds on to a lot of the coating hope this helps ❤️
You are so welcome!❤️
Ma'am we have a place here in Richmond VA called krispies and they make these fries and I've tried for years to duplicate as a chef I feel stupid, forgot the egg
Johnny now you got the egg I’m sure you will perfect them❤️
What kind of oil did you use?
Hello Dark Toad One I like to use vegetable shortening or canola oil hope this helps and thanks for dropping in❤️

Hello Justin whatever amount I say is what I’m using hope this helps and hope you enjoy ❤️
I'm lactose intolerant, so I would omit the egg and substitute water for the milk 🍼

Can you put these in oven?
Stacy I have never tried the oven so I really can’t say❤️
Why you threw them on the counter like some dice tho 😅
😂
What type of flour
All purpose ❤️
i’ve tried my first batched so far and they don’t look as crispy as yours from the first frying😩
Hopefully the second fry did the trick?
oh yes the turned out almost like yours! and they taste amazing!
I'm so glad they came out for you and you enjoyed that's great!
These are banging as fuck Donna! 😫
Awesome!!❤️
Estás de luto, no parties.
❤️
Nobody call them JOJO any more?
or is it just pacific northwest thing?
Never heard of them called that learn something new everyday thank you❤️
You made a fried chicken 😂
I didn’t have any chicken so put the potatoes to use😂
Donna, all my coating comes off when I put them in the oil. What am I doing wrong. 🤷🏻♂
I’m so sorry this happened by any chance did you allow the potatoes to rest after dredging so they become somewhat tacky this allows the batter to stick to the potatoes
I think that’s happened. I didn’t let them rest. I’ll try making them again. Thank you
