There is no pre-rendered video footage. The reason why it's so smooth is all this is in game. Canera is just moving and teleporting around. The people are physically on the ships. The people running to shelters are actually on the planet below. Every ship has an interior instead of just being an empty shell and the planets are fully physicalized. In mutiplayer you could travel to the planet below and see there's people, buildings, caves, clouds and weather systems, etc. They do some crazy stuff to get this all to work.
This gameplay demo was sooo good! People complain that it'll come out in 2026 but that's just 14 months away. It's just not that long away if you ask me.
nobody said anything about january 2026 and considering that the game crashed 3 times during the live presentation in the first hour of gameplay and had various bugs do you seriously believe it'll be ready in just 2 years?
@@solidsnake5051 But SQ 42 is not even out yet lmao, it's not comparable at all. This showcase wasn't just bugged, it crashed three times in just one hour PLUS a bunch of bugs on top. And it wasn't any random part of the game, but the very first hour of the game which is typically is the most polished and it was mostly cutscenes. If this doesn't scream "unfinished" to you I don't know what does.
@@Zigeuninja ofcourse its unfinished, but its normal for games to be buggy and crashy 2 years before release. so those 2 crashes mean absolutely nothing imo
This is the prologue for Squadron 42. That's why there's so little gameplay and it's mostly cutscenes giving us the setting introducing the setting and universe of the game.
@@Ashmodai In my experience, if I want a good scenario, there is a perfect medium for that: literature, writing. It's meant for that. Cinematography is best made as a movie. And video games are for entertainment though man-machine interactions. Which is why I'm not a big fan of what you could call "visual novels". In a video game, it's possible to narrate well through the gameplay and level design. So when everything is cutscenes, I feel cheated. For instance, the part when the aquadron attacks the Kingship by surprise, that would have been better played imo (although they made the decision at this point that you, the player, is a rookie that doesn't know how to fly at this time). If you want to feel like you are part of the grand scheme of things, you have to make it playable in a video game. You want to defend the fleet? Then develop the segment as such even after being kicked out of the turret. Make the decisions weigh in. So instead, you are brought to the bridge to change the course of the Javelin towards the enemy CV but it's kind of underwhelming imo because what stands out, is mostly repealign a wave of vanduuls boarding the ship again. TLDR: I would have made this prologue very differently if I were them and cut at least half of the cutscene time into more gameplay.
@@RonJeremy514 if evreyone in the game industry thought like you games like Wing Commander or Metal Gear Solid would have never been made and Kingdome Come: Deliverance would be 1 hour long because you already start as an acomplished Knight who singlehandly repels the cuman army.

There is no way to know with CIG if that 2026 is definitive. They already told us 2014, then it was 2016, then it was 2018, and since 2018 massive waiting. Now this. Two more years every time.

@@robertmandl9326 Personally I think 2026 is realistic for the polishing phase, but past that, they have to give something to play, even just a demo of SQ42's prologue otherwise I'm done. No mroe feature creep. The problem is that SQ42 has to be the same game in the core mechanics as Star Citizen, so now SQ42 has Master Modes and given how unpopular it is, if they decide to remove it or rework it again, that will postpone the release yet again because now they have to rework how the missions play out with a different flight/combat model. That's a bit scary.
@@RonJeremy514 ... why should they release the prologue on its own as a demo when 1.) they showed it in a live play session and 2.) the prologue only has very basic gameplay and no flight, apart from that short bit with the Gauntlet?
