I am currently in the process of establishing a relationship with suppliers (two different print on demand companies) and am 9 days away from going live on my first ETSY shop. I am currently beyond overwhelmed, especially in tweaking my designs and photographs, receiving sample products, and shipping times. I have re-watched your videos numerous times and have to say this process would not have gone half as well for me if I hadn't. One larger question I have would be once I go onto ETSY and register, how long is the process for filling out all of my page information, product descriptions, and connections to POD's? I am allowing myself 3 to 4 days for everything on my shop to be uploaded (including all of my listings), is this to short of a time frame? Your are greatly appreciated :)
Hey Lori! Wow, SO exciting!! Sounds like you’re on a great path for launching your shop! I’d say it depends how many hours you’re planning on working on all of this for those 3-4 days. It can be quite a time consuming process so I’d definitely say set aside full days if you can! Maybe just run through the process for one or two listings to get an idea of how long it will take you? The good thing is that you can make “copies” of similar listings and just tweak to reflect the differences if you have listings with a lot of the same information. So excited for you!! 🤩👏

I thought Etsy automatically did it but I never received one from them for my test order. Google search isn't helping. TIA!
Oh yeah You have to set up an email marketing contact form for that If you have this marketing automation step you can get more subscribers to your shop and you will be notified about the order being placed When they contact you, you can send updates Someone told me that and she does it well and is currently using it for my ETSY shop which is doing great, I send out the latest updates and provide reasonable content Would you mind if I introduce you to her ?

Hello there What if your not a business and just a hobbiest trying to just get your money back you have payed out on materials and you want to plough money back in to your hobbies and perfecting your crafts and skills ?I sell on ebay and it’s growing but now they holding me hostage for promoting my listings and charging me that extra percentage fee and now that I don’t use that option my sales have slowed up and I get a sale every now again .like I say I’m not a business nor self employed purely hobbies and learning my craft…. depends, it’s state to state it would be considered income tax meaning it’s a state tax, in NY i think it’s about $1,000 or more is when you have to file it

You don’t have to- technically anything you create you automatically have intellectual property rights to. However, having official “proof” (registered trademark/copyright) serves you well in the case of a legal issue arising. Most sellers don’t actually register for this but you definitely can if you feel the need to.
You mentioned adding listings in handmade or digital, but didn't describe what to do with vintage. I don't know what to do with the partner question. I have no partner and my items are all vintage and antique. I'm stuck on that step.
Hi, I noticed that on Etsy, when it comes to the the list beneath the Variations section, there's the empty boxes on the left-hand side(plz don't get it confused with the right hand side beneath the "visible" sign). I've connected my printify account with etsy but I actually don't understand what those left side boxes mean and whether I should tick them because in all the tutorials I've watched they left them empty. It was something that made me consider asking chat gbt and it said I should tick those boxes. Now I'm confused. FYI it's just a top with 4 different colours and sizes. Everything went well, but in the last step, Etsy asked for very sensitive information such as my social security number, full name, telephone number, current address, and birthday. Well, that's almost like giving away your identity. Etsy should guarantee that all of its customers are safe and insured against identity theft!

Hello i have watched over 200 hours of videos for etsy. Every video is now different and rate would cosr me between $200 to $1000 in advertising. I wont even make that in sales.
Hmm, marketing doesn’t necessarily have to cost that much. If you are promoting your shop yourself through email marketing or social media, or even influencer collabs where you offer them a product in exchange for their promotion, that can still be effective on a tight budget.

Hello Kate. Excellent video! I have a dilemma where I started setting up my shop, named it, and followed all the step leading up to the business portion. This was back in Jan or Feb 2024. I stopped at that point because I didn't have a business checking account at that time. A couple of months later after I obtained a business checking account, I tried to go back in and complete the shop setup and it tells me the name I chose for my shop has already been taken! I reached out to the help people and told them it's been taken, but by ME because I never finished the process! They don't seem to understand what I'm telling them. Do you have any knowledge of this or what I can do?
Why do you even need a business, LLC, branding etc? Customers on Etsy just want to buy what they see, they don't care about all of that. As long as you pay tax on the money you make, why does that matter?

Hello, I made an etsy shop and had added 6 listings to sell. I am from Puerto Rico and etsy closed my account mentioning that I am from Puerto Rico and they do not accept people from Puerto Rico. However, there are stores that sell well that reside in Puerto Rico. Perhaps their excuse is this but the real reason is that I have never bought on etsy and that is why they do not want to have me as a seller yet. I should be a buyer before being a seller. This would be a better reason for me not to sell on etsy because there are people from my country selling on etsy and they already have more than 6 thousand sales generated on etsy and etsy closes my account because I sell from Puerto Rico (this is something I don't I believe it)
Have a question about looking what's popular when searching on Etsy. My product is like no other BUT it brings kids shirts and jewelry together so it xould technically be listed but mostly on the jewelry side. I don't want to get into detail about it. Let's just make up a product like a cute pin you can put on your shirt. The pin would be considered jewelry(in my case) but then it attaches to shirts. How do you research this type of thing? It's not kids clothing but connects to it. Do I make sense?

It feels like I am banging my head against a brick wall!! I have wanted to open an Etsy shop for a long time but I am useless with technology and have always struggled to do it. I have finally managed to start an Etsy shop now but I have no idea what to do with it. I don't need help with a business name I have worked for myself since 2007. I don't need help with ideas what to sell I have more than enough. I don't need help making things, I and a skilled Carpenter/joiner and make things all the time. I already work for myself and make tables, TV cabinets, Shelves, Bars, storage boxes, wall art, candle holders, anything out of reclaimed timber really, made to measure. I already make and sell things around the area where I live. My problem is I can not work a computer!!! I am typing this comment on here so I can use TH-cam and other simple sites but using Etsy is impossible for me,, I don't know what I am doing with it.. I try but end up giving up because I don't know how to do it! I am missing out on expanding my business because I am so terrible with technology and every video is people saying I need a name, ideas and thing to sell. I have got all that!! I need some one who has an etsy shop to show me what buttons to press,, where to take my items to post and just have the knowledge to sell online!! It is so frustrating when I am all good to go but the only thing stopping me is my lack of knowledge working a phone/computer. I am in West Yorkshire UK. Can anybody point me in the right direction to someone who could help???!!

Hello i have watched over 200 hours of videos for etsy. Every video is now different and rate would cosr me between $200 to $1000 in advertising. I wont even make that in sales.
Hmm, marketing doesn’t necessarily have to cost that much. If you are promoting your shop yourself through email marketing or social media, or even influencer collabs where you offer them a product in exchange for their promotion, that can still be effective on a tight budget.
@@KateHayes Hello it is still going to cost. People are making videos where they say. It wont cost a cent or $0 to $500. They dont takr into account marketing and influencer gear it still costs

Hello Kate. Excellent video! I have a dilemma where I started setting up my shop, named it, and followed all the step leading up to the business portion. This was back in Jan or Feb 2024. I stopped at that point because I didn't have a business checking account at that time. A couple of months later after I obtained a business checking account, I tried to go back in and complete the shop setup and it tells me the name I chose for my shop has already been taken! I reached out to the help people and told them it's been taken, but by ME because I never finished the process! They don't seem to understand what I'm telling them. Do you have any knowledge of this or what I can do?

Why do you even need a business, LLC, branding etc? Customers on Etsy just want to buy what they see, they don't care about all of that. As long as you pay tax on the money you make, why does that matter?

I created my shop 8 months ago, but I CANT FIND HOW TO LIST SOMETHING ANYMORE. The Etsy app says I don’t have a shop. The Etsy seller app says I don’t have a shop. On my browser, I can find my shop which does exist, but I can’t list anything!

Hello, I made an etsy shop and had added 6 listings to sell. I am from Puerto Rico and etsy closed my account mentioning that I am from Puerto Rico and they do not accept people from Puerto Rico. However, there are stores that sell well that reside in Puerto Rico. Perhaps their excuse is this but the real reason is that I have never bought on etsy and that is why they do not want to have me as a seller yet. I should be a buyer before being a seller. This would be a better reason for me not to sell on etsy because there are people from my country selling on etsy and they already have more than 6 thousand sales generated on etsy and etsy closes my account because I sell from Puerto Rico (this is something I don't I believe it)

Have a question about looking what's popular when searching on Etsy. My product is like no other BUT it brings kids shirts and jewelry together so it xould technically be listed but mostly on the jewelry side. I don't want to get into detail about it. Let's just make up a product like a cute pin you can put on your shirt. The pin would be considered jewelry(in my case) but then it attaches to shirts. How do you research this type of thing? It's not kids clothing but connects to it. Do I make sense?
