    1. Khelif was born with xy chromosomes with DSD 5-ARD deficiency.. Internal testes and no ovaries ... As such, Khelif was misassigned at birth as a female .. same as Caster Semenya and Brittany Griner ...
    2. When Khelif reached puberty, his xy chromosomes kicked in (specifically the y chromosome) releasing normal male levels of testosterone from internal testes and resulting in all the attributes associated with being a male (muscle mass, bone density, lung capacity, larger heart, broader shoulders, deeper voice, etc) .. just look at the video of Khelif walking around Paris .. major broad shoulders and a typical male gait ..
    3. In 2023, Khelif was banned by the IBA for not meeting the female division sex requirements .. ie. Not having xx chromosomes ... Khelif initially appealed this decision but then abandoned it .. when a simple cheek swab would easily prove whether Khelif was xx or xy ... The fact Khelif chose NOT to fight the IBA ban or take this simple test is very telling, if not damning .. hiding behind a dubious passport is not proof of anything..
    4. In 2024, Khelif decides to compete as a woman in the Olympics, knowing the IOC has a loophole in not requiring actual proof that women are xx chromosomal.. Instead, a passport will do, which is zero proof at all !
    5. Any empathy for Khelif I had disappeared upon learning he is gaming the system by KNOWING he is xy chromosomal and STILL deciding to use his xy size/muscle/power advantage to beat up xx women .. the power advantage difference between men and women is massive (one paper cited a 162% difference!) ..
    6. The IOC banned Caster Semenya in the 2024 Olympics for having naturally high testosterone (but ignoring why this is occurring ie. xy chromosomes) ... yet allows Khelif, Lin, and Griner to compete ... the inconsistency is mind-boggling
    7. Algeria should be ashamed knowing full well they are exploiting the IOC's incompetence and willful woke ignorance, instead of actual solid recognized facts and science.
    8. Their egregious decision (IOC) could lead to serious injuries, or even death, to actual xx female athletes. It's just insane.

You are presupposing what you need to prove - what is a woman? You assume that anybody with a Y chromosome is necessarily male. But that’s what is under dispute. The Y chromosome has to function properly to produce the development of a male organism. The whole organism is male or female, not the chromosome. For 99.99% of human history, the determination was made at birth by looking between the legs of the baby. If there’s no penis and no testicles, that’s a girl - regardless of genotype. Genotype explains the causal development of the baby, but doesn’t answer the question of whether the baby is male or female. The visual inspection of the external genitalia does that. So there are two competing tests for sex determination - genotype and phenotype. The objective biology does not determine what policy should be used in ordinary life or in sports. THAT is why we have this problem. It’s not ideology, it’s just a necessary fact of science that, at times, there is gray area when making distinctions of classification. It’s totally logically arbitrary which test gets used, as the biology does not compel any one test. And so there is no one ‘right’ result of whether an intersex person is male or female. This is mind boggling for some people to get their head around. They want the world to be black and white, but sometimes nature itself has gray area.

That won’t help. WHICH ‘sex testing’ should be used? In the old days, they did genital inspections. And it seems Khelif and other intersex people would satisfy that test. But if they did a genotype test, then some intersex people would fail but who are obviously women by any ordinary phenotype inspection. And there’s a reason they got rid of genital inspection in women’s sports - they found it invasive.

These are males with XY chromosomes born with bilateral undescended testes. At birth, the doctor will see the absence of a scrotum, a small penis and will mistakenly write females in their birth certificates. These are common mistakes. Further examination would have revealed that these infants do not have vaginas and their urethral openings are are at the tip of their "clitoris" instead of being under and at the bottom. Few doctors, if ever, will do these thorough examinations. The child is brought home and will be raised as females, but the mother will notice shortly within weeks or months that the child urinates from the tip of of their penises and will bring the child back to the doctor to correct the mistake. Unfortunately, some parents prefer to carry on the mistake and bring the child up as girls. It's not until puberty when secondary sex characteristics of the male (penile enlargement , voice change, muscular, beard growth, hairline) becomes obvious because of testosterone production.

Great to hear more and more educated fact-based scientists/ biologists stepping forward with their stance on this! After watching Dr Emma Hilton’s interview last week and now this interview, certainly confirms a lot of people’s suspicions. Thank you

    • @RC-qf3mp
      @RC-qf3mp 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

Neither Colin nor Emma clarified anything on this topic. Both confuse biological issues with policy issues (whenever they talk about ‘fairness’). There’s only one issue, the biological one - what is a woman? Nailing it down, how are intersex athletes classified by sex? The problem is that there are MULTIPLE BIOLOGICAL TESTS and these can produce conflicting results in the case of intersex people. The traditional test is phenotype - look between the legs of the baby. If there’s no penis and no testicles, that’s a female. A girl. And by that test, Khelif was born a girl and girls grow up to be women. Female. The genotype test is chromosomes and perhaps she has Y chromosome. But chromosomes aren’t male or female, the whole organism is. Typically, the Y chromosome works properly, and so produces male genitalia. But if the Y chromosome is defective, then it won’t produce male genitalia and so won’t produce a male organism. And that’s what can happen in intersex people. So there are two objective, fact-based biological tests: phenotype and genotype. It’s purely a POLICY issue, not a biological one, on which test is to be used by a sports organization. Phenotype tests were used originally … over a hundred years ago and for decades by examining the genitals of women athletes. They found this invasive and other tests came to be used. But if they went back to that testing, Khelif would likely pass. Is that unscientific or un biological? Not at all. It’s objective and empirical. The problem is there are multiple biological criteria that could be used and no single one of them is ‘right’. There is no ‘right’. Nature doesn’t care how we classify it. Anomalies happen and the defect is in our desire for nature to black and white when it often has gray area. Whether Pluto is a planet or not doesn’t keep the Universe awake at night - it doesn’t care. It’s just our arbitrary desires for classification that create a puzzle where there is none. It’s purely a matter of policy how to classify intersex athletes. It’s a mirage to think a biologists can answer this with only biology - biologists can give their policy opinions, but that’s just policy opinion, not biological fact.

I wonder if Imane Khelif's harassment action against JK Rowling and Elon Musk includes misgendering on-line. What fascinates me about that is the fact that misgendering and deadnaming are only considered an afront to transgender people. Since Khelif is not considered transgender, in theory it would be almost like calling Elon a "she" or JK a "he" -- neither of which would be considered harassment? And I'm sure that Imane has been misgendered on a daily basis since adulthood and Khelif has casually corrected people -- unlike an actual transperson who would less likely be casual about it. I have met an androgynous-looking female (self-ID'd as such) who actually seemed proud to be misgendered and would tell humourous stories about it.

Yes, but there will never be clear cut criteria because nature has gray area in it. There’s no clear classification for anomalies. And we can imagine new intersex conditions that could arise in the future. Ultimately, there are at least two biological tests - phenotype (look at genitals at birth) and genotype (chromosomes). For at least some intersex people, the phenotype test could yield ‘female’ (no penis or testicles) while the genotype is more typical of ‘male’ (Y chromosome, albeit defective). It’s like asking for clear criteria on whether a labradoodle is a lab or a poodle. It’s neither and both. There’s no great mystery in the biology. It’s just a fact that human classifications, at times, are totally arbitrary. That there is gray area in nature itself. It’s not a defect of our classification or knowledge, it’s just a brute fact of reality.

@@dis_appointed8626 no, chromosomes aren’t male or female. Does the male chromosome have a penis on it? Of course not. You are confusing causal factors in the ‘typical’ development of sex characteristics of a fetus with the sex itself. Rookie mistake. The whole organism is male or female, not the chromosomes, and the chromosomes can be defective and fail to causally produce the development of a male organism, as can happen in DSD cases. Answer me this - what do you call a baby born with a vagina, no penis and no testicles? I call that a ‘girl’. As does 99.99% of humanity throughout history. The girl might have internal testes, or ovaries tests or gonad streaks. But it’s a girl. No penis, no testicles = girl. That’s a phenotype test. It’s a biological test. I get it, a genotype test is also a biological test. And in DSD cases, the tests can yield divergent results - and that’s why a problem exists for sports and other areas of human life, because it’s totally arbitrary which tests get used. The biology doesn’t compel one test or one criterion.

Colin makes a fast move whenever he mentions “male puberty”. That’s presupposing what should be proven. The question is whether an individual is male or female, not whether the puberty is male or female. If the person is female, then WHATEVER puberty they go through will be ‘female’. So his use of ‘male puberty’ is nonsense. He needs to be more careful in distinguishing biological claims from his own preferences of how policy should be dictated in athletic competition. What is ‘fair’ is that only women compete in the women’s division. What’s not fair is excluding some women due to natural biological factors. He’s muddling two distinct issues, and whenever he talks about ‘fairness’, he’s not speaking as a biologist, but a police maker.

    • @RC-qf3mp

@@Electiger-y5k that’s presupposing what needs to be proven. We need criteria for distinguishing ‘male’ from ‘female’. There’s no such thing as a ‘male puberty’ apart from whatever puberty a ‘male’ has, so the prior question is, what’s a male? Testosterone is hormone. Men produce testosterone and women produce testosterone. Testosterone isn’t male or female. Puberty also isn’t male or female, it’s a development process. So your comment sheds no light on the matter at hand. I should add, there are some women with unusually high testosterone levels, such as an Indian runner. She has XX chromosomes and nobody is questioning her sex. She’s 100% female. And she has a condition that gives her very high levels of testosterone. She was disqualified due to her testosterone levels. She sued and won in court, and rightly so.

If the person is XY, then they will not go through "female puberty" if they have 5-ARD because they won't produce normal female levels of estrogen because they don't have ovaries. If they have some level of androgen insensitivity, then they don't necessarily go through bull blown "male puberty" either, but the lack of normal female puberty is still an athletic advantage.
To my knowledge, there is only one possibility where someone can be XY and be 100% typical female (ie. having fully functional internal and external genitalia and having periods, etc...) and that is an incredibly rare form of Swyer syndrome and this wouldn't likely be Khelif's situation.

Nobody said Imane is trans. People say he's intersex, which means he looked like a girl when he was young then startes changing when hormones hit at puberty. He wouldn't need anyones permission for anything, it happened on its own and he clearly took on a male persona at puberty. There are no pictures of him as a teen in womens clothes.

".....their bodies are clearly androgenized you can see through just their facial structure......". "It's fascinating how this so-called biologist, who appears to be driven more by personal bias than objective science, can assert such conclusions based on facial structure and body type. By that same logic, should we then assume that athletes like Ilona Maher, given her height, muscle mass, and facial features, must also be male simply because of her physical prowess on the field? Of course, this reasoning seems to only be applied selectively, often targeting non-Western athletes. Ironically, many of those who claim to champion women’s rights are the same individuals who disparage athletes like Serena Williams, questioning her femininity even after she's given birth to two children."

There have been dozens of studies showing that humans, and especially females because we evolved under higher risk, can discern sex in other humans within fractions of a second. Things like wider and more rigid jaw structure in males are also scientific fact. Not everyone is quickly identifiable but if it wasn’t an overall fact of life then “passing” wouldn’t have formerly been a major concern for folks with gender dysphoria. YOUR bias is what’s most apparent.
