If you'll allow me to get sappy in the comments here, my best friend and I came to this interpretation together, where we feel one of the most driving factors of Mario's world is Hope, and the things we can all achieve with it, which is why the threat of no wishes is so dire. It also comes from a sincere place in my heart that believes that can apply to the real world, too, to some extent.
I know the comments are gonna meme and joke and bring up the other funny comic, and that's cool. I'm just really happy you guys put so much love into this, because I did too. :)

Exactly, I love Mario's Silent Protagonism in Super Mario RPG, because it has so much personality, like wanting to punch a kid to the next dimension.

The funny thing is, too, that's basically what the song 'When You Wish Upon a Star' means. It's not pro-laziness like parents thought it was during the early to mid-2000s, it's about believing in yourself. That definition we were given in The Princess and the Frog wasn't some brand new explanation like quite a number of people thought it was when that film premiered. That was always the point of it.

Hearing Geno's speech made me think of all the years that I've gone through, years yearning for better changes, especially from within.
I'm thankful that this game was remade, and hope that this piece of fun may be experienced by our new gen of gamers.
I really do like how the argument to keep Bowser on the team comes down to "The bad guys gonna keep your Keep!" lol
Thats pretty much in the vein of Bowser's reasons for helping Mario. If the Mushroom Kingdom is gonna get conquered, _he_ is gonna be the one to do it. Nobody else.
@@AzureMoebius22Basically Bowser MAIN reason when it comes to teaming up with the heroes in any game. He's the only big bad in this neighborhood, and he'll make sure it'll stay that way.

Mario, Mallow and Geno are traveling to getting the Star Pieces to save the World and rebuild the Star Road. Also to find Mallow true Familly. Bowser is traveling with them to get his keep back. And Peach because she want to join them. Also for peace in the Mushroom Kingdom.
This scene has been made into multiple comics but this is the first one i've seen that expands on the original scene and makes it way better
The only other comic I have seen of this scene is the bad ending version of this

Yeah, this is a good explanation. The way I saw it is that "wishes" represent the power for the weak to overcome the strong. Smithy wants to destroy all wishes because he wants the one with the most military power (himself) to rule forever.
I see this as the good ending to this conversation, where Peach interjects before the more agressive Bowser and Geno gets a chance to actually detail what he means rather than get bombarded with counters. While "that's a fatalistic point of view" will always be funny, I'm glad there's a universe where Geno wasn't kicked through a ceiling after a philisophical debate.
This version of Geno's "Let me explain" makes a lot more sense than most. Also props for Nintendo-Nut1 for making it even sound like a good Mario game dialog and to the GabaLeth voice actors to bringing it to life.

Well when you put it like that Geno it does make sense
Here's the thing though: Many of the wishes Geno quotes actually come true _during_ the course of the game. Toadkofsky gets his melody, Mallow finds his way home and learns to be brave, and you bet the toad couple's next stop after Marrymore is gonna be Pound Town. In essence, the story is disproving its own premise by showing that wishes come true for those who take action, regardless of the Star Road.
This is pretty much a parallel universe where bowser decided to think about the question just a bit longer, allowing peach to speak first and geno to explain it better.
Dude Geno is a man of inspirational speech.
Thats the first comic i saw from this channel that have such strong drama/story. Like seriously Geno sound like a traveling spirit/sage that knows and understand mechanisms of existence better than anybody in this world. And while having this knowledge he shares it with those who in need of understanding the situation.

Like, I remember the other version where Bowser questions if the wishes would really matter given how determined Mario is to save Peach, then punts Geno through the ceiling... this just blows that comic out of the water.

I played the original game back then. It was always clear that without wishes, the world would fall into darkness and despair. That was what Smithy and company wanted. Mario and his friends were fighting against the end of the world. It’s actually the darkest Super Mario game of all.
Honestly the rpg games are pretty dark and have very dark "bad endings"
Rpg: no wishes get granted. World turns to despair.
Partners in time: Shroobs take over the world killing/mind controlling everyone who resists.
Bowsers inside story: Dark star, destroys everything with his powers and everything disappears.
Dream team: Bowser gets reality warping powers where he's almost invincible and can controls the world (one of the "better" bad endings)

The previous comic GabaLeth dubbed is the bad ending version of this (the one where Bowser kicks Geno to the ceiling) and I asked to dub The Power of Wishes next because it's the good ending version of it. Look what happened now!!
Tbh… this gave geno more character then he had in the entirety of the actual game
those voices are so spot on
that truly make sense, it give you determination and also maybe help that hero trying to save you, give him that boost he needs to save you. not always give them the boost maybe they have it in him all along
and the best thing is that it respected the system of free will
