    Been watching your videos for sometime and this is my 1st comment. I live alone. I've been alone 4 yrs. I lived off grid for a yr after my husband passed, watching your videos makes me want that life back. I couldn't afford solar panels or the battery charging stations so I sold the property and bought a house. I so want to turn my home into off grid home like your home. I'm so afraid of doing electrical so I have money to save for that too. Which power station do you like best of the ones u have? I'm so proud of you for doing this on ur own.

    • @gypsyjenna

      Thank you, I only have experience with two power stations and each one has pros and cons. There is definitely some research to be done here, and like Colin said, you should be able to find a good, reliable, and affordable one that will work for you

      In the US a new round of tariff's is about to go into effect on solar panels and batteries from China, who are by far the biggest source of these, especially the low-cost ones. I'd not delay on the research and purchase. A second vote for Will Prowse's channel to get good info, and he has a forum linked in the video description where any help you need can be found.

      It depends on your wood - hard wood vs soft and type of tree. Pines will cause a lot of kresote whereas oaks, cedars less so. Also dry wood better than wet.

    Hey girl , I have a trick that was taught to me 25 years ago by some good ole boys from Tennessee, as far as issues with suet in my stove pipe. Smash 2 aluminum cans , ( soda/ beer ) . Put them in the bottom of your stove where the coals will completely melt them overnight, or all day, if applicable. Before you do anything , CLEAN THE PIPE OUT FIRST !!!! For the first week, melt 2 of them each day. Check your pipe once it’s cooled down. It should be clean. The second week repeat the process, only using 1 SMASHED can per night/ day. Repeat the process as I mentioned above. The pipe should be clean and shiny . After that 1 smashed can every 4 days ish , should be more than sufficient. The aluminum in the cans oxidizes, and creates a smooth surface on the inside surface of the pipe , and decinagrates the suet , into smoke. There is no risk of waste coming from the pipe, and causing any fires . I still check my pipe annually before using the stove , and haven’t had to clean it since. Also, it prevents the pipe from rusting completely thru , it works on stainless pipes, as well .

    Hey Jenna,, my wood stove is outside- I do most of my cooking outside all but winter Bcoz my camper is too small 😢 I MISS my wood stove , there’s nothing like wood heat. ANYWAYS, wanting to share as was suggested to me, and I tried it and never did it any other way after. I’d tap the pipes and creosote came out in chunks and layers then I stuffed my pipes with newspapers and birch and light it. They were CLEANED GREAT- like new except not shining. My pipes were stainless steel and I’d tap them in the mornings before putting on the fire, just shovel it out if any 👍. If you ever get the chance to get stainless steel inside pipes, it’s worth it.

    I really enjoy your videos. Thank you. So glad there are folks in your age group who love our beautiful province and are willing to work with what they have and make the most of it. I applaud your off grid lifestyle. I'm not off grid, but off grid capable, burn wood for almost all heat, cook with it too. I have an airtight stove with stovepipe much like what you have and when it creosotes up I let the fire get down to coals, set an iron pot over the stove hole and shut the dampers and it never smokes me out; maybe not a great practice but saves time. I also save those crusty creosote flakes and burn it,( it's seriously hot fuel), in cook stove. At 80, I still cut, haul, block and split much of my firewood, put in a garden; and tolerate three free range female spay cats one of whom is 18; keeps me moving...Lol!

    This was such a breath of fresh air! I loved this video, and I think needed to see it to push me to maybe research this type of lifestyle more. I am retired and do not have financial concerns and am young still, but I am seriously sick of the hustle and bustle of life around me. Thanks for sharing.

    I love this!!!! I always wanted to go to Canada but I can't get a passport. EVEN AS A NATIVE BORN AMERICAN! The reason...I was adopted...and the social security office (record keepers) screwed it up 35 FREAKING YEARS AGO!!! So I am sorting it out now

    • @taylorsisland8509

      If you drive across the border - all you need is a drivers licence to enter Canada (no passport necessary)..

    • @shellakers10
      @shellakers10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Omg! That's infuriating about the record keepers. It makes me angry every time I hear a story like yours. We were all born sovereign according to God's law. I hope you can get this sorted out soon. You shouldn't have to suffer for someone else's negligence. Plus none of us should need a number. Ugh.

    • @jessicanone4202
      @jessicanone4202 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @shellakers10 I know but when you're adopted your birth certificate changes. My birth certificate shows my adoptive mother (my grandma) and my father as unknown because she was widowed and my bio dads rights were stripped....okay no big deal...they changed my mother's name on my record...BUT SOMEONE DIDN'T DO THEIR JOB AND DIDN'T REMOVE MY BIO FATHER...so I can't get a passport because they want my father's information...I know his name... THAT'S IT

      You have to have an enhanced drivers license now. Requires a lot more paperwork for identification, and is only offered at your DMV if your state is close to Canada. We live in Buffalo, NY, so it’s easy for us, but if you’re from a farther state not available. Also, no firearms, even if licensed, drugs not in prescription bottle, you have to tell them where you’re staying at, plus they copy your license. Coming back in is harder, US customs are stricter, they do not play. But never argue with any customs.

    I think those coyotes would be running scared after hearing you scream at the mouse in the woodpile. To be fair, I'd scream too 😂. My daughter's cat went outside once, saw a car drive by (maybe twenty feet away) & she ran back inside. She's definitely an indoor kitty.

    OK IF YOU HAD TO WRITE AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL.... For someone to take care of your trailer home for a week. That manual would be huge.... Could you even remember everything to be done? Started laughing when you started plugging one thing in, unplugging another, switching this, switching that, filling the water then some diesel. Make sure the cat understood. Then make supper.

    Hi.
    You are so lovely.
    I've been watching your videos for a while I find them very interesting and I think you a strong lady doing everything by yourself.
    Your cats are cute have you thought about extending the outdoor shelter so they could roam more but still be safe in a run.
    Have you also thought about adding a porch which will keep the heating by your front door and allow you move space.
    Take care stay warm and safe.

    Hi Jenna, new sub here from England. I'm an outdoorsy guy all my life and although I'm not sure how I'm here, it's great seeing daily life across the pond.
    On a weird note, I had a great aunt that moved to Nova Scotia in 46 and we used to collect the stamps from her Christmas cards via air mail........ back when stamp collecting was a thing 🤣🤣 ( 70's/80's)
    I'm in the West of England, between Stonehenge and Avebury, and your countryside is similar to ours, it looks magical. I'm a professional gardener here.
    I like how you show the good side and the struggles, of your life, it's awesome 👌🏻👍🏻
