    Kirkland you need to several layers as it's so thin so it blocks a normal toilet i use a plunger most business use Scott 1 ply but I don't use it as it's rough
    I would not use Kirkland in an RV unless you don't use much and don't mind brown on your hand

    Great experiment! We have always worries about the “pyramid of death in the bottom of the tank. We have a sprayer inside our tank they we turn on (with a hose attached on the outside) and we do get tp clumps when we do that weekly clean out. Crazy stuff we have to worry about in RV living. We are heading out again in a few weeks - I’m getting soooo excited to be out again! Thanks for sharing this - I am so in on a better TP!

    Because I never camp for more than 5 days at a time and have an internal sprinkler to help flush my black tank I've found that almost any toilet paper is fine. It all gets flushed out at least once every two days on site. If I was regularly dry camping I guess I'd have to be more careful with toilet paper choice but usually I have a full water/septic hookup or am on a site that has access to on site washroom facilities within a few minute walk.

    I tested Purex in the pink wrap. It broke down quicker then the RV toilet paper. Oh, and its soft.
    Another thing I do is once every couple of months to both my black and grey tank.. I dissolve Cascade in boiling water(not the pods but the powder). My black is 20 gal and I use 1/3 a cup. I fill the tanks 3/4 full and drive to the next campground. Cascade is rv plumbing safe and it cleans the tanks
    Safe travels

  • @gregprince2523
    @gregprince2523 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Something I found while driving down across the southwest, the folks would never flush their TP, they would put beside toilet for later use. That later use I found out was in their culture, it was collected to start fires for cooking or warmth. Also told that they didn't put in septic system so as not to clog it up.

  • @daveduncan2748

    Similar to results I have observed. We have just used "regular" TP for years in our RVs. But do you really not use the tank treatment fluid in RV parks? Hope you aren't just leaving the black tank valve open. That will cause you problems with buildup in the bottom of the tank.

    Oooh, can you try the unbleached brown seventh generation tissue next please? It seems to start to break apart in water. I think it’s because of the lack of chemicals used in processing and not being bleach. It’s soft and is two ply.

    Great video, but is the shake test really accurate? You guys are full timers. Does your rv REALLY shake like that? I hope not! You're parked for a few (or more) days between travel days. Therefore, the tp sits there fermenting for days. I bring this up after seeing my daughter do the shake test for her septic tank paper. Of course she got upset that I would suggest that her septic tank doesnt shake...kids! Anyways, yes your rv does shake a little on travel days, but not when you are camped. The solution would be to use good chemicals and lots of water!

    We leave this Thursday or Friday on our first trip. Since we have been busy with holiday stuff and work trips, we haven’t got to the toilet paper procurement phase yet. But….I am more educated now than before!
    Safe travels! And...Happy New Year to you both!
    I was up in Minneapolis the other day. It did not disappoint hehehe. I think it was like 5 degrees and the whole tarmac was icy. The tower asked me about braking action when I landed. We love Costco! We just couldn't give up bulk shopping even when we were in the van. It does say septic safe on it! After more than 40 years of RV camping, toilet paper thickness has never been an issue for us; we use whatever toilet paper we want. The solution is simple; we never put toilet paper into our toilet.
    You have to handle the TP anyway, so after wiping instead of dropping it into the toilet we keep a bag inside a small pail near the toilet - or you can use a Diaper Genie - and dispose of the bag immediately if used for #2 or let it sit for a bit if used for #1. You can top off with a bit of sanitizer every once in a while if you need to as well as use a pail with a lid.
