I watched Session 2 before Session 1 and Cassie Stevens from Auburn came 3rd in the all-around, Cassie Stevens (AU) and Jocelyn Moore from Missouri tied for the SEC vault title. Helen Hu (Mizzou) tied for 2nd on beam and bars.

helen hu needs a 10 i hate that they won’t give it to her!! grace anne needs to be removed from vault i don’t get it- i’ve never seen her get a clean landing in this season! she def shouldnt be the anchor, it’s irritating to see celestine and moore do beautifully every time and then davis just crumbles every time
I been thinking the same thing about Grace Anne. What is the coach thinking? I am not surprised about anything that happened. It’s been happening all season. That vault rotation has been terrible all season except Moore and Celestine. Schreiber does good when she is on but can be off at times. They have been having a lot of off days this season. I really hope they can get it together for regionals.
I agree that Helen Hu needs a 10 and I will add that so does Alisa Sheremeta, and Kentucky’s Raena Worley, and she has routines that have deserved it multiple times on every apparatus! Regarding the vault order for Missouri, it’s a strategy to get the highest possible team score: put your strongest gymnast in the fifth spot, the second strongest in the fourth spot, and someone else with a 10 value vault sixth. You may have noticed that Florida has been using this strategy for quite some time. For several years now, the coach puts Trinity Thomas, their superstar, fifth, instead of sixth. The idea is that she is so fantastic that she can score 9.975 or 10 in the fifth spot. Then the person who goes after, who may not be quite as good but because of Trinity’s score, the judges can’t go much lower, sometimes also earns a 10. You’ll notice Leah Clapper has received at least one perfect 10 on beam going sixth. I believe this has also happened for Sloane Blakely going sixth on floor. I do not mean in any way to disparage Leah and Sloane. But it seems that perfect tens get awarded to certain gymnasts with certain leotards a lot more than to others, which was the point of your comment and the first part of my comment. Some people have expressed concern that it is unfair to Trinity to not be the anchor (6th) but she herself has stated that she likes to go fifth. Also, I don’t see Trinity getting underscored because of her place in the lineup. I’m guessing that is the Missouri coach’s strategy for putting Grace Anne in the sixth spot. (Edit: added “e” to Sloane’s name, sorry!)
Side note from how incredible these athletes and programs are, did anyone clock how great Jordyn Wieber looked? She was owning that sleeveless red top and waist high white pant. We stan.
