Samsung Galaxy S10E review: smaller, cheaper, better

  • The Samsung Galaxy S10E is the smaller variant of the S10 and S10 Plus released this month. It’s 5.8” screen spans edge-to-edge with a hole-punch camera that we’ve seen across this year’s Galaxy S10 lineup. Samsung claims the “e” stands for “essentials,” but there's a lot more to this phone than just that. In an era of giant phones getting larger, the S10E shows that smaller doesn’t have to mean worse.

      Crazy isn't it? $750 used to be the max price of old Flagships a couple years ago. Now they are trying to tell us that this price range is the "new midrange". Prices in phones have gotten ridiculously more expensive...... Yet the way we use them has remained the same...

    • @TheRedmondEthan
      @TheRedmondEthan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think LG did that on their g8. And while it sounds simple in theory. I feel like it's more complicated then reality. I mean on a phone with a glass back, you'd want there to be a difference between the back glass and the camera glass to prevent worse damage. Not to mention, there's already been some notable accounts with Samsung messing with the hardware of batteries to much...

    • @toma7894
      @toma7894 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But remember, tv’s started very expensive and in the mid 2000’s to early 10’s they got more and more expensive as curved tvs, 3D TVs and of course smart TVs were becoming a thing but now that’s becoming normal so prices are lowering.

    • @FootPauler
      @FootPauler 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Tv's have started getting cheaper though because people don't use TV's as much as before and the same way. alot of streaming is done on other devices nowadays. unlike in the past where the TV was really your only source of watching, now you have laptops and phones with higher screen quality then your average tv is capable of and you can also do more on them.
      With that being said, i don't think phones will get any cheaper until there is a new kind of device that comes in to replace them. as they become more and more powerful and capable, the price will only go up probably until phones are more capable then laptops.

    • @Tom-sd2vi
      @Tom-sd2vi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phones are getting cheaper except for the "status symbol flagships".
      Look at this example: the samsung galaxy a40 is a very capable phone with a 8-core cpu, full hd+ OLED display, 32GB of storage and 3 camera's at 225 euro. It is ~90% of what a galaxy s10e or iphone XR is for only ~40% of the price.
      To tie in to your TV comparison: you can still buy 20k TV's today.

    Just a heads up to everyone who has an S10 or S10e the color saturation of the screen even when Vivid is enabled doesn't display the saturation correctly... To fix this "enable blue light filter" and set it at the lowest possible then go back and look at a picture, you will see how it is no longer washed out. You can see the correct color saturation with "blue light filter" off while in the recent apps screen but once you return to the image it washes out. I figured out applying "blue light filter" corrects it for now! I hope this helps!! I assume they are going to fix this in a future update. Cheers! 🍻

    I wish reviewers would stop bashing at the included screen protectors. It's often that you preorder a brand new phone but couldn't get the screen protector yet because it's not available in your local stores! It's there to cover you for the first few weeks or so before getting a tempered glass. Personally I don't think Samsung was expecting anybody to use it long term. Good job Samsung!

    • @maverickbonato8164
      @maverickbonato8164 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's simple really:
      You like Apple? Go for the XR
      You like Android? Go for the S10E
      I don't think people would change their opinion over a bit more battery life (for the XR) or for a better screen, design, headphone jack, expandable storage, camera flexibility (not quality), reverse wireless charging, 3 more gigs of ram, way quicker charger included in the box and price that we know will come down in a couple of months if not weeks (for the S10E that btw starts at double the storage of the XR).
      It's the same old thing. On paper, I think it's rather clear which one is the winner but Apple has both loyal costumers, an ecosystem and a different OS that quite a bit of people prefer so, in the end, it all comes down to this: iOS or Android? Your pick. As it will always be (at least for quite a bit haha).
